I guess Sprint is too giddy with the iphone5 but bother with new Windows 7 hardware. :/ I've outgrown the Arrive and I'm ready to pass it on the wife.

It should be in your C:\ folder.

You also should have made a backup. At least burn a disc, or get a flashdrive. :\

They're claiming they've no Mango release date though.
 
So no Mango release today then. It will be soon, though, since all the dominos seem to be lining up. Here's hoping for new devices next month!
 
Speech to Text converts "I'm" into "I' m". So far its iffy, but hope it improves as it gets used to my voice

Hey, I found my old pre-NoDo backup! March 29, 2011. Will be fun to use this for few seconds and then go back to Mango.

Watson and Belfiore said they want developers to submit Mango compatible apps asap. The roll-out should be soon.
 
Local Scout is on the Start screen but isn't on the list of apps. If it was accidentally deleted from the start screen, where could I go to get it back?

It's an image of your phone and includes everything, iirc. That's why it sucks so much that we can't initiate a backup in Zune. It's the only way to save your texts, in case you lose your phone or have to wipe it.

You don't get a notification toast, but if you pin your "me" tile on your home screen, it will flip if someone mentions you on Twitter.

Hit the search button, press on the local scout icon.

Ah wait, location was off. So how can I get Local Scout pinned on the Start Screen without having to pin a specific location?
 
So today was just another rumored date. Microsoft always said it would be available this Fall and technically, we still have summer. Here's a little tip from Joe himself.

Hey, that's a cool picture of the day! Anyway, go to settings, region+language and then change the browser & search language to "English (United States)". I'm surprised that it's not available, because I was pretty sure that the scout feature was only available in the US and UK.

They are getting saved by Apple being later than maybe predicted. No announcement/conference for a new iPhone and no release date for the conference/phone/iOS 5 gives MS room to breath.

I bet we don't get anything till Oct. on Att in terms of an update, and the Nokia show isn't until the either. They might be on schedule no matter what, but I swear perception would be much worse if Apple was doing something. We won't get a new iPhone till Oct so they are safe... For now...

Just how you pin all app specific functions in mango (if supported). Open the app (Bing), open the function you want (Local Scout), press on the three little dots and then tap on "pin".
 
Although this is an unlocked ROM, I presume, I cant find internet sharing in settings
 
Here's a question about iPhone dunno if it can apply to wp7.

I saw an AT&T ad where some guy can talk and surf at the same time. I can do that too with ease. But at&t are claiming they're they only ones who can do that.

So my question is. Talk plus surfing at the same time cost extra? Or is AT&T liying out of their ass.

GSM networks like ATT and t-mobile can talk and surf at the same time, it doesn't cost anything extra.

It's a feature of their network. All of their customers can do that.

A lot of Verizon (and probably sprint) customers cannot.

Vzw uses EVDO Rev. A in most areas.. which is not capable of talk and data at the same time.

I'm pretty sure it is possible to do this on VZW's LTE network, though.. but most areas don't have that yet.

You can talk and surf at the same time on CDMA if you're on a wifi network and have a cell service signal, so yes, AT&T is deceitful as for the times that you do want to use wifi and calling, one of the services drops out anyway.

In the future, LTE will fix this deficiency when it comes to dual talk and surf on CDMA networks.

There are very few scenarios to use dual surf and talk as these services cost battery life and require a reliable cellular signal.
 
So,

I've noticed a few things here in NZ.

1: Vodafone no longer sell the HTC Trophy.
2: The Samsung Omnia 7 is impossible to find.
3: The other gen one phones have dropped in price.

I hope this means NEW PHONES :D

The text highlighted above shows a Windows Phone dialogue text in “Mango” which gives some clues as to how this feature can be enabled. The text reads:

To enable tethering on this device dial {0}
To enable tethering on this device, go to {0}

According to Long, this suggest tethering will not be enabled by default and instead users will have to call their operator or visit their operator’s website to have the feature enabled (provisioned) remotely. In addition, Long also mentioned that users will be able to choose between no encryption (Open) and WPA2 encryption, and the number of guests allowed is also apparently customizable, presumably by the carrier.

£8.33 a month? I blurted out "Are you serious?" :lol. I thought it was free if you had mobile internet. On a separate note, I wish they had added extra information on the Dialler screen, like how many minutes you were talking for each call.

Have Mango users run into problems for the IM? It was working great last night but it wont connect this morning
 
I've noticed a tiny issue:
In the browser, the title pictures of ArsTechnica mobile version and also the NeoGaf app are quite pixelated and the gradients look bad.

Anyone know why this is?

IE7 in NoDo has shitty image + text scaling/rendering and only supports 16-bit colour. IE9 (coming with Mango) fixes all this.

IE7 can't even render GIFs properly, either.
 
Watching a video of Mango on youtube, it shows the Music/Zune app having an album art image. I do have a song in there with an album art but it doesn't show for the app tile. Is there a way to make this happen?

That image is for the band you last listened to. Play your music and then see if the tile shows the band.

This isn't true at all. Talk and surf is extremely useful and there are plenty of scenarios you'd want to use it. Also, if you get any sort of Edge/3G signal, you can surf and talk, it isn't something that can only be done in a few areas.

I am serious. Zune doesn't have background images of all the artists. If its a well known band you're listening to, the background IN the Zune app updates first, then when you close the app, the tile background changes. If you don't get the band background in the app, you won't get it in the tile. If you get the background in the app but not the tile, try rebooting your phone.

Yeah, surf n' talk works just fine with GSM. It's CDMA that is such a shitty technogly. It still baffles me how it could've become so huge in the US. It feels like tech from the 80s. It's also one of the worst anti consumer technologies I can think of*. "What? You wanna legally use the phone you bought on another carrier? I don't think so!" It's crazy how different the mobile network landscape is between the US and Europe.
