It just shows up automatically:

has calmed down a bit.
I don't get it on all pictures, just some. Could it be pictures with "live images" don't show it? Cause I don't think I've only seen it on pictures where it doesn't autoplay a live image.

Hmm, I may have to disable living images if true, just yesterday I took a picture with flash that washed out the part of the pic I needed, was hoping that I could edit it to before the flash washed it out.

Yep, photos app.

It's only there if a picture with flash has been taken and rich capture was on.
That's what I've found as well. If Rich Capture is on and the flash is used then it should give you the option to adjust lighting in the photo gallery.

Playing around with rich capture the last few days, it has it's benefits and draw backs. While it often helps in making the focus of the photos look better, if you have moving objects (kids in my case) in the background, they can become blurry/out of focus while the main area is fine. It looks a bit strange sometimes.

I'd love to have a good review or tutorial on when it is appropriate to use rich capture.

Well I'd love to know what I have to do to make it work, none of my pictures have that option, flash or no flash. Also, cant control hdr without that function and I have a few photos that need it.

I don't own the devices but from what I have read, Rich Capture is mainly for taking bracketed shots(multiple shots at different exposures) and mixing them together intelligently. This is basically HDR, but based on some articles, it does additional things like gives you sliders to adjust how the bracketed images are merged or in some cases reduce blurring due to increased exposure times needed for one of the bracketed shots. HDR's main use is when you have a shot that has areas that are bright and areas that are dark. In order to get a proper exposure of the bright area, it would cause the dark area to lose details and be clipped to complete black. The opposite is true if you wanted to get a proper exposure on the dark area. So the idea is to take at least two shots, one each where each area is properly exposed and merge them. This can be done by adjusting shutter speed or aperture(can't do this on a phone camera) or iso(though I don't think this is ever done due to the grain introduced by using a higher iso, but maybe they do) to let in different amounts of light for each shot.

For your case, rich capture may have taken 2 shots, one that resulted in your children being blurred because the shutter speed was slower and when they merged the two images, it caused issues. This was actually one of the things that they said their Rich Capture would solve, but apparently, did not. Another possibility is that the camera moved between the two bracketed shots which makes merging very difficult.

So, my 1520 isn't holding a charge. Soft reset didn't help. sigh

BofA has apparently confirmed they are working on a win10 app per windows central

This is probably because Rich Capture is Off or Auto now. and auto means the phone decides, and it simply doesn't decide the same way you want.

my Blu Life One X 2016 was shipped by amazon. Looking forward to see how it stacks up against my L830. I'm not leaving WP, just wanna see MS apps on Android as I wait for W10 Mobile to get up to speed on the 950s. for $99, this Blu phone is feature packed.

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?
Macro is impressive in that video. If the kinks can be worked out with some of the long rich capture processing delays then I'll likely jump on board.

Installed a new update on the fast ring just now and the phone app doesn't work:(
Getting an error over and over again when I try to update it along with 10 other apps. Time for a reset?

Pretty much. As someone else posted, just look at the camera.

It's at the point where I am no longer frustrated by it and has become second nature.

Hmm, that seems to work really well, I was looking towards the screen, but looking up a bit at the camera seems to be working really well, at a longer distance as well.
Still works so much better on the SP4, I can just glance over and it unlocks, whilst I have to actually "look" for it to work on the 950.

I still don't understand why they're bundling Edge with the OS. They've been talking about updating the browser independently since Mango. It's really annoying, especially on the desktop side.

I still don't understand why we don't have more browsers.

MS is still the same MS since Mango. Nothing changed.

Yeah, good question. I mean, the fact that they are releasing constant OS updates makes it less of an issue, but it would still be preferable to have it split out.

While choice is nice, considering the mobile browsers on the other platforms (Firefox, Chrome) are a bit shit, we're not missing out on much. Even Dolphin had regressed the last time I tried it.

SP4 and SB use facial recognition, not iris.

I disagree, I thought Firefox had gotten better on Android and before I bought the 950 I was using a chromium browser that was insanely quick. Like, desktop quick.

Also, a photos app update means I can see the rich capture icon on some photos now. I was able to adjust flash and hdr on the fly, that's pretty powerful stuff.

I just don't like the mobile interfaces of FF and Chrome at all. Dolphin had a great interface, but I feel like that's evolved a bit in the wrong direction over the years.

Are you on the latest insider build? Edge is desktop fast on it, it's almost unsettling how quickly full sites load now.

I think it's because it's still pretty much a beta, right now they are updating the browser with the rendering engine which is tied to the OS, because the engine is also in development.

Once they reach a more ready for prime time I believe they will be able to update without requiring underlying engine changes.

Setting up my Android Blu phone now.

Are there any youtube apps that are like tubecast and metrotube?

Why not just use the official YouTube app?

Hate to break the truth to you, but Edge still sucks. I can't endorse it until it starts supporting extensions and stops stalling on loading certain page elements.

Mobile Firefox is excellent.

Ads and you can't store videos offline without paying.
Exactly, 1st party apps aren't always best. I'm already missing 6tag (instagram) on WP.

Oh, android does such a shitty job bringing my contacts over from my other accounts.

Facebook on Android however is so much better than Facebook on W8.1 and W10. It's so embarrassing on Windows that I can't recommended WP to any friends or family now.

I didn't realise that there was an objective truth to taste, thanks.

Joking aside, gestures and extensions are missing and there is that annoying text bug, but I don't think it sucks.

If you really hate ads, there are other ways, but eh. I support content creation as revenue really isn't much.

Contacts seem to work fine if you are a Google user first.

Facebook app eats battery just like iOS.

Stick to the mobile webpage.

Why do you think accessory companies, when given the chance to make a replacement shell instead of a case that goes around the whole phone, choose to make a case?

Microsoft Band 2 is on sale for $200 this week... anyone here own one and recommend it? I LOVED my Band 1, but it broke like 4 times on me, so I'm hesitant to buy a Band 2... but for $50 off, the temptation is there.

I still wanna get a 950, just waiting for a sale, or a good reason to buy one.

Edge is blazing fast on pron sites, just saying. A good percentage of people will probably base browser performance on these adult sites.
just found my reason to buy a 950 now

Funny story or maybe not: more than one person has told me about their experiences testing/working on different browsers on websites. They had to sign an agreement saying that they would have to look at nsfw stuff on a regular basis. A tester I knew said essentially it was his job to ensure the porn sites were working correctly. Now, perhaps complete hyperbole, but it made me chuckle a bit at these folks perusing through different porn and getting paid for it.

I don't think it is happenstance that you guys have the best video search engine for man's proclivity towards the salacious.

So the wife's 950 has having all sorts of troubles since I bust a gut getting it for her.. The battery lasts a few hours, none of the apps are updating (80 pending) and an update that's stuck on 0%. The apps that are baked in just don't work (camera, photos) Tried a hard reset and still the same.

The interface isn't enough now to keep me on these phones. It's just shit that they can release such half finished OS's and think it's ok.

Just rubbish!

Mine is working great. Sorry man. Sounds like a lemon.

I might have missed something but on these two years using Windows phones I haven't found way to properly put cursor while I'm writing in the middle of the word. And I hate that you don't have arrows to move cursor.

Oh, and Outlook works like shait through browser. Editing text is useless task and resending takes away editing completely. Mind-boggling.
