WindowsCentral: Hellblade II, Gears of War 1 UE and Age of Mythology are coming to PS5 in 2025

The best way for Sony and Microsoft to announce Halo on PS5 would be a Halo 2-esque remake of Halo 3 with a remastered version of this trailer being the ‘one more thing’ on a state of play:

1 is great (my favorite of them in fact). UE on the other hand, was a step back. I know people think it's 1:1 with the original game, but the movement/feel say otherwise.
I haven't played either of them in a long time. 2/3 I replayed like 6 ish months ago and both hold up really well.

Only games that make me wish I still had a Xbox.

Hellblade 2 is a great short experience fellas, don't miss it out of pure hate for Xbox or whatever. It's not a masterpiece but it's great for what it is, pure narrative eye candy

No... i made a joke about Playstation fanboys like i normally do on here and most people know im messing around and you're overreacting.

This is getting silly. I'll buy a PS5. Lets move on.
It was silly from the beginning, but yeah. Jokes... I get it.

I have the first one on both Xbox and PC (the latter still holds up visually today, even without mods). Wasn't too much of a fan of 2, but 3 is great!

not really... unless you rebind face buttons to the triggers, the only thing you could do is different trigger responses, and that's it

DualSense haptics include more than just the triggers. I'm playing Space Marine 2 on PS5 and when you are running in that lumbering armor you feel every step in this slight haptic vibration. It is pretty cool so I can see how similar haptics could be applied to Gears.

Gears and Halo on this thing are gonna be insane. The chainsaw with the resistance is going to immerse!

as someone who was never a fan of "HD rumble" and Sony's equivalent... the trigger effects are the only thing I usually have in mind when someone mentions the PS5 haptics tbh.

but sure, you could add some vibration effects like that.

The triggers are the haptics I like the least in most games, frankly. More annoying than immersive, imo. The haptics in the rest of the controller are great. That's where DualSense really shines for me.

Can you imagine walking up to any hardcore Xbox fan four years ago and telling them Gears Of War would be coming to Playstation?

Anyone who says Phil Spencer's tenure as head of Xbox has been anything other than a disaster should probably reflect on what that fan's reaction to that would have been.

while true, the triggers have more potential to me to be used in interesting ways. it's just that most devs either ignore them or completely fuck it up (like whoever programmed the trigger effect in Hotwheels Unleashed 2 deserves a beating)

the HD rumble stuff to me is a tradeoff and not necessarily a good thing at all times. while it is able to add more nuanced feedback, it also lacks the punch of the old style vibration motors.
in the Matrix Awakens demo for example, there is a huge explosion that flipps the car you're in. on Xbox the controller really gave you a punch, on the Dualsense it was a weak buzz effect that didn't remotely bring across what happens on screen

so it can be used in cool ways, but I am not totally sold on it, and I feel like maybe having both types of vibration motors would be the best way forward. so you have both the punch for explosions and other more extreme moments, and the more nuanced stuff for the quieter moments.

what I have noticed is that some devs started using the Xbox's impulse triggers for finer vibrations, since those motors are smaller. in Jedi Survivor for example they have footstep vibrations on them.
those impulse triggers are also something that went ignored for years during the later years of the Xbox one. but I think, quite ironically, that the Dualsense reminded developers that they exist again 🤣 in Wreckfest the Devs went crazy with them for example... they feel like the car is actively fighting you on the highest strength setting

A lot of this is going to be preferences. I'd rather have subtle vibrations than rumble in most games. The footfalls, that I mentioned previously, were just perfectly paced with left, right, left, right vibrations when running. It added something that rumble really couldn't. Just a more precise effect that I enjoy.

Gears and Halo MCC are nice, the rest will go ignored on PS5.

What about Forza Horizon 5? It would bring in more money than all these other rumored games combined.

Always thought the final nail in the Xcoffin would be Gears and/or Halo coming to Playstation, and….

I just want a native Gears trilogy port on PC now - if they add it to PS5 maybe they'll release a PC port but this seems like it's just Gears 1 UE which I already have on PC and Xbox
