The phenomenon is spreading!

Is this good, or is it very very bad?

3-4 animes is a more realistic following. That way you can actually follow them in some meaningful way, unless you are like a multitasking freak or something.

Your list seems lacking. I demand you pick up more shows. For anime.

I probably will, but I'm already playing catch up on a lot I've missed in the last 3 or so years and I'm a bigger manga reader than anime consumer as of late. :p

Anime GAF has a way of getting me to try more on the fly so we'll see what happens then.

Now I only need a region-free player, and a bigger spending budget. Hopefully some of these titles will be licensed for a North American release in the distant future.

Isn't the OPPO DVD player line region free? I think I remember it being so. I know it would play a ton of formats.
I used to have an old SDTV with a DVD player that would play ANYTHING in it. It used to glitch out on some of my anime discs though.

Watching for sure

Saki Achiga-hen: Episode of Side-A (I like the franchise quite a bit, looking forward to this!)
Haiyore! Nyaruko-tan (the original Haiyaru! Nyarl-tan was funny stuff... :) I expect this to be terrible. Hopefully it'll be a good terrible and not a bad terrible that makes me drop it.)
Seitokai Yakuindomo OVA 3 (very funny franchise, wish it'd get a full second season...)
High School DxD OVA

Will watch some (may or may not continue)
--
Upotte (the manga's decently good for the genre)
Hyouka (KyoAni? Will try at least.)
Medaka Box

Might try (may or may not continue, or actually start to begin with, but slight interest based on the description)
--
Ozuma
Uchuu Kyoudai
Sengoku Collection
Eureka Seven AO
Jormungand
Hiiro no Kakeru
Yurumates
AKB0048
Nazo no Kanojo X
Koiken
Strike Witches movie
Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 (movie)

Maybe someday
--
Fate/Zero (haven't watched part one yet)

Definitely not watching: Zetman, Saint Seiya, etc.

... Also, is there any idea when this year the Nanoha 2nd movie is going to release?

I just started watching Ano Natsu finally and so far, the MC is fairly interesting and not a total loser, everyone is hnnnng and DAMN @ MC's mom. I love this shit already.

New Prince of Tennis 7:
Well, the anime is handling Mifune pretty well. I'm glad that they aren't just rushing through the mountain training the way they completely skipped over half the matches in earlier episodes. Still not a good adaptation, but at least it isn't a train wreck. It's just...not very well put together over all. It's largely just soulless compared to the manga.

Ano Natsu 9

Okay, so I watched this one just to see (cajun don't read this)
the blue girl get tossed aside like yesterday's garbage
. Boy that was fun!

And now I'm out again.

I'm not gonna read that but I can already figure out some things just based on the kind of show this is and by peoples reactions to episode 9.

Aquarion Evol 10

Is it just me or has Andy's hole obsession gotten out of hand? It wasn't this bad in the beginning. Not that I'm complaining mind you. The guy's flanderization is hilarious.

Of course I'm more satisfied with Bianca's development. That has helped solidify her as 2nd-best girl.

Also, very good music choice at the end there. Need to look into this OST.

A very pretty and at times jaw dropping 30 minute video by Ghibli composed primarily of static shots of surrealist paintings by Naohisa Inoue mixed with (mostly) subtle animations and a very fitting soundtrack that really gives this a sense of liveliness. Definitely worth checking out.

There certainly isn't. I wonder if there is any fanart of Kanna getting her teeth brushed >_>
Oh my, I have been corrupted
you cannot corrupt what has already been corrupted

It actually sounds like the polar opposite of Castle of Cagliostro Lupin. 'Character focused', 'sensual', 'daring.' And that Koike:

so good.

I wonder if this will be the first 'recent' TMS series that I watch.

This show confused me enough I managed to spoil a plot point from the next couple of episodes for myself. Basically I was trying to figure out if Michel's voice
was just unintentionally female, or if it was some weird nobility formality where they were referring to Michel as a 'him' despite obviously being a female, only to find out that apparently one of the next episodes was going to shockingly reveal that Michel's actually a girl pretending to be a boy. I can't be too sad, though, since I never really thought Michel was a guy.

I did enjoy Ralph running off in a snit and trying to
kill Michel and Cleo... With an effing spaceship.

The mask Rachel was wearing was super-stylish, I approve.

Ano Natsu 1

OK, so far I'm digging this. Great OP, nice visuals and art style, great characters, fun premise for a haremshit. Reminiscent of Onegai Sensi but that's alright with me.
Oh and one more thing that's pretty obvious.
Kanna
is fucked right from the start. Poor thing.

Aren't they always?

SYMBOLISM

I always try to be as megalomaniacal as possible when asking for friendship, it makes it difficult for people to say no.

That was certainly an "eerie" episode. These kinds of stories always rely heavily on the skills of the director, and he was very careful in how he framed shots to establish tension. And he didn't solely rely on creepy shots like this:

Yamauchi's episode was pretty interesting visually, but otherwise I do agree the show has fallen into a bit of a rut - and the visual rut mirrors a narrative one. I still enjoy it, but it's disappointing that the level of inspiration the show had early on couldn't be sustained. It was especially noticable in episode 21, which contained a couple flashbacks to earlier episodes that were noticably better looking than everything else.

Occasionally it's interesting. Such as when Chihaya view's Arata's match - her subjective impression of his playing style is quite visually pleasing (the water effects) but whenever the camera just shows us straight karuta it tends to be bland.

Spring is a beast.
Series composition.

Hmmm.

A rewatch of the first episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica but with the English dub.

The episode itself:

:( at
Homura

Kyubey
is a punk.

:( at
Mami telling Homura to get lost.

:( at
At the manipulation these girls are about to receive.

Having finished the series prior, this episode was by no means boring to watch.

As for the dub:

The lip syncing is excellent and the dialogue delivery is good. I was extremely worried about the dub when I saw the first trailer for it, but as I've learned with this and other series, trailers are never an indication of the quality of the dub and this remains the case with Madoka. I do have to say though, the girls sound older than they should be. Madoka's voice will take the most getting used to. With that being said, I certainly wouldn't mind revisiting the series with the dub.

Anohana and BRS (TV).

But I'm pretty sure AnoHana mainly sucks because of the director, Lupin the third is going be fine in that case.

I'm pretty sure that's the opposite of true. The scenes and episodes where Ano Hana succeeded in telling an engaging story was largely due to the strong direction.
Master Keaton 3-5

Is it bad the first place my mind goes is "lol, pedo" when Keaton dances with the little girl? This medium has ruined me.[...]
Yes, yes it is. Get your mind out of the gutter!

J. C. Staff really should taken the first 5 seconds of Ano Natsu's OP and used it for the rest of the OP. That film reel aesthetic of the entire cast would have been great.

Well, they do actually take that asthetic with the OP. That's why there's film grain and 'shaky' camera work - it's meant to be shot through Kaito's camera.

Also, that shot of the film strip bothers me because all the Ichika's on all the pieces of the film strip move at the same time, when actually each of them should be a separate still that's slightly different to the one before it.
