The art direction for the movie is really good; I almost feel bad for the staff. I get the feeling that the movie would be much better recieved if it wasn't tied to the failure of the TV show.

Also: Clamp writer Nanase Ohkawa names Tarantino, Zack Snyder and the Cthulhu Mythos as inspiration.

Ohkawa does not name "Tarantino, Zack Snyder and the Cthulhu Mythos as inspiration". Please, if you cannot read the interview, don't make such claims. She was asked about what her impression of Blood is, moving into this project, and she says that Blood the Last Vampire had a impact on creative talents working in the industry both in Japan and overseas, including directors like Tarantino and Snyder who have declared themselves fans of the work. She feels that the Blood DNA continues to influence and impact popular culture.

As for the Cthulhu Mythos, yes that is definitely an influence on Blood-C itself, and her comments basically confirm that it would be correct to translate the name of the monsters in Blood-C as "The Old Ones" rather than whatever the hell Aniplex decided to go with. The intention for the tone to be Lovecraftian is intentional.

Someone on Animesuki requested for translations on the character profiles, so I'll just post them here as well for the 2-3 guys who might be interested. WARNING, BLOOD-C TV SPOILERS.

Kuroto Mogari is the head of the number one IT venture company Sysnet. He approves of SIRRUT's goals and their mission to expose the truth to the world using the internet as a platform, and so he lends them his support. He has some sort of history with Fumito, which resulting in him becoming a cripple, and he sees Fumito as a personal enemy.

The other new characters are mostly just SIRRUT members, ranging from net journalists to hackers and so on. Just young people trying to rebel against the system and make a difference.

Kutou (the guy with the tattoo on his neck) is the head of the Tower's task force unit. His family has been tasked with protecting the Festival from enemies who oppose it by Fumito's family for generations. Fumito has enhanced him using magic, and he is well trained in hand to hand combat as well as deadly weapons ranging from swords to guns.

Yuuka is returns as Fumito's aide in the movie, continuing her desire to rise in the political circles in Japan.

Interesting note about the names, considering the emphasis the show put on the meaning behind fake names in the series:

Fumito Nanahara = Fumito can be taken to mean a person of the pen, who is better with words and writing/planning than direct action. Nanahara is seven fields, which might refer to the fact that the company backing his operations is called Seventh Heaven.

Kuroto Mogari = Kuroto can be taken to mean a person of wealth and possessions. Either one who controls a lot of wealth and power, or one who desires such. Mogari refers to the mourning of the dead. Is this his real name? Or one he has taken on to "mourn" the loss of people Fumito has taken away from him in the past?

Kutou = Nine heads. Could be a reference to the hydra, maybe a hint as to his true nature? Could he transform into such a beast in the movie? It's possible imo.

Hope that helps.

Edit: I should add that Fumito and Kuroto could easily be brothers if the story does want to go in that direction. In Asian culture, it is very common for parents to name their children with a sort of pattern. Both Fumito and Kuroto sharing a character in their given names would fit that pattern nicely.

New art for Blood-C's movie by Kazuchika Kise, the character designer and animation director:

I really like how she barely looks like a Clamp character now. Definite improvement.

Now that's certainly a several times improvement over Blood-C's art, yes. But what about the story...

I'm really liking Saya's movie look, though with an expression like that it looks like my hopes for a four-minute Kyou wa Ii Tenki musical number are probably not going to materialize.

Did I ever mention that I watched episodes 9-12 uncensored? DON'T DO IT, GUYS. Just trust me.

No, either don't watch it at all, or watch it uncensored.

I saw pics and it didnt seem that bad. It's probably much more horrific in motion. but maybe not. I have a high tolerance for animated gore. Doesn't bother me.
Yeah, in real life I'm very squeamish, and don't like that stuff that much in movies either, but in anime it's not as bad... it's less realistic, so it doesn't bother me as much.

Ultimate Girls 7

Why did you do this to me, Cajun. :(
That is a pretty messed up episode, yeah. The show's okay overall though, as moronically stupid as it is. Being incredibly stupid and fanservicey is of course the whole point, but sometimes, like this episode, it does sort of cross the line.

But Blood-C was always legitimately good...

I wish.

the best part is the shaky eyes overlaying right before the EPIC HAND GRAB accompanied by vetti and cleo hilariously grimacing at each other.

also, i was just about to gif that knife throw. such a stupefying moment in animation history

It's as badly animated as it is nonsensical. What if he hadn't caught it?

Blood-C was definitely one of the most entertaining things I've seen in a while so I'll give it that.

I gotta thank AnimeGAF for that one oh man.

What an episode. So much action, so much grief, so much sadness, so much suffering.
Best show of the season? Best show of the season!
That final scene with Yomi
deleting all Mato messages was so sad =(
And lol at Saya
protecting that world.
That was damn hilarious.

anime's clearly trying to tell us we should never let people called saya protect things

K-On!! 17

It's nice to see Yui start to realise that she can't rely on her sister forever. Those lyrics were pretty :firehawk ;_;
I think it's safe to say that the new OP and ED are much better than the first one.

New short promotional video, Zenkichi's version, of Medaka Box:

MEDIA FACTORY had to re-upload the previous one taken down (http://neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=35741748), and I think Lantis has learned their lesson (for... incompetence? Lack of communication?).

My best guess is it has something to do with the fact that, the first time, they messed up and forgot to reduce the volume of the OP song for most of the video. Probably didn't help that it made most of Medaka's speech difficult to hear as well.

Zenkichi sounds pretty good for how I imagined him to be.

how so?
serious question

Generally superior (for TV) animation. Good voice acting. Interesting characters. An entertaining storyline.

I genuinely don't understand what is supposed to be "trolling" about the show. Subverting an audience's expectations is not the same thing as insulting them, and as I've mentioned before (because I am Blood-C's defense force, apparently) the show really didn't subvert my expectations.

The whole "protect" thing never became ridiculously memetic for me, either, so I didn't latch on to taking the piss out of the show either.

Now that you mention it, I didn't realize the music was much louder on the previously uploaded video! But, taking it down because of that? Man, Lantis sure was picky...

ok you lost me at interesting characters
it has some of the worst characters of recent memory
the storyline was monster of the week with a cheap
Truman Show
ending
the only thing they put effort into was the violent action scenes (which were quite clearly directed towards sick people) but they were censored to all hell in the tv show so it had no redeeming value to me.

actually im 99% sure that the censorship was more of a marketing ploy than actual censorship.

The wagon scene is the greatest scene in the first half of the show, easily.

If Gonzo had put any less effort into animating the horses they would be SCEJ.

Guilty Crown 20

Make up? Wtf? Why would any sane person want to make up with these people?
Oh, right, no sane person is in this show, as testified by the flashback, which reinforces my hatred of Haruka. Why hasn't she died yet?!

You dont like her and her relationship with Shu? I thought it was touching as well as
making up with his classmates, too often shows would ditch them or forget about them, especially since the underlying nature f guilty crown is using his friends. It had to take a lot to forgive Souta since he did cause Haru's death, so that was a powerful scene

I'm kind of conflicted on this arc as a whole. I think my opinion of Switch's back story kind of ruined this one because I expected it to play out in the same way. The difference between the two arcs is that Bossun's gives context to his actions while Switch's completely turns the character and everything we believed up to that point on its head.

Might as well use this to post my thoughts on the episode.

It's a shame I had the fact Bossun
has a twin brother
spoiled a ways back. Never crossed my mind a spoiler comment for Gintama's version of the crossover episode would be a Sket Dance spoiler. The events panned out in a completely different way than I imagined, at the very least I was kept guessing.

With all said and done, I prefer Bossun's over Switch's. There was more shock value with Switch's although Bossun's had more meat overall. One thing which reduced some of the "shock" of Bossun's story is you can piece portions together beforehand. You simply have to observe the scenes when he's with his family.

There is character changing material brought upon with this arc. The fact
Bossun and Tsubaki are twin brothers completely changes their relationship. No longer are they simply two like people whom are at odds. Seeing their encounters from here on in should be plenty of fun.

I don't like how she is painted, as if she was a good mother. She's not a good mother imho and her reasoning is questionable. The fact she has known/had suspicions that her brother
killed her husband/Shu's father
and yet kept working with him until now, helped him
put Shu in the shitty situation he is now, helped him try to kill Shu and then while she was under the shower she goes "I'm so sorry Shu, but I'm doing it to help you, now you're free!" (lol)
, well, it's not some "fake" apprehension and a hug that can make a powerful scene or erase all the shit that went on before. Not for me, anyways.
The Souta thing was laughable for me. The whole gang getting back together after the whole
betrayal they did and the way they did it
is just... actions in this show don't seem to carry real consequences.

I had to bite my toungue (or fingers) when they did that in the crossover, one of those things that you wouldn't really notice unless pointed out, but I'm surprised they actually did that.

New Precure season confirmed for 2012.

Well 22eps + beating the end boss, which I'd assume would take 2 episodes.

Sorry, that was a joke. This character design is for Saint Seiya Omega by Yoshihiko Umakoshi, who was also character designer in Heartcatch Precure.

No, he's kidding around. A bunch of Umakoshi's character design sheets for the new Saint Seiya appear to have leaked from somewhere.
