To be fair, if awesome virtual reality technology like SAO's existed in real life, I doubt I'd be able to keep away from it regardless of the risks. There's a point where the awesome factor outweighs common sense, and I'm pretty sure "massive total-immersion virtual fantasy world where you can goddamn FLY" falls quite a long way beyond that point.

Pretty amazed by how well Non Non Biyori did, not that I'm complaining.
The rest of the ordering of the list just seems downright bizarre, though. How in the actual fuck does mediocre stuff like Fantasista Doll beat out legit shows like KLK, GatchaCrowds and Love Lab?
EDIT: Servant x Service at 48 and Hunter x Hunter at 88 are nothing short of criminal, and I'm just going to assume there's some kind of overwhelming bias against series that haven't finished yet, because otherwise the positions of shows like Samurai Flamenco and Golden Time are completely incomprehensible.

Holy shit, that intro was unexpected. I mean, yeah they were totally in the romantic mood last episode but getting lucky? Haruki you bastard. OH, and she leaves with his BUTTONS!! So much love will give me diabetes.
Setsuna finally receives the bad news as our MC decides to man up and tell her the truth once and for all. I'm not sure if I feel bad for her but they made sure to make her look as broken as posible, suicide watch!
And let's not forget DAT GOODBYE KISS, right in front of Setsuna hahaha, tongues inside throats and everything, I actually respect Kasuza for leaving that facade behind and enjoying herself with the man she chose, but life is life in the end!
Setsuna will 100% take chance of her absence, so I hope we get a second season ASAP.

Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~ (+ Hoshi no Umi)

I was hoping for my first post here to at least be about Doki Doki in the new year, but I can accept wrapping up the one-cour series from fall with this series. As I said previously, I'm of two minds about remakes. A chance for multiple interpretations on a work is welcome, but the previous incarnation shouldn't necessarily be thrown under the bus. What I'm saying is, I think Idolmaster Xenoglossia is pretty alright.
My memories of Fall 2008 are a bit blurry, but Toradora! was there (history's repeating itself), and so was Sunred and Macademi Wasshoi for Ichiro Sakai work and subversive toku comedy. It was also where I was introduced to the Science Adventure series. But the first Yozakura was there, and while I enjoyed it ("JUST TUNE" is a pretty great song), I will admit that Hana no Uta trumps it.
A lot of it comes down to the animation. Tatsunoko's work feels much more vivid, more alive. There's a lot of motion and fun cinematography. With both Princess Resurrection and Gatchaman Crowds (and Muromi), I've come to learn that they really know how to use the medium of animation to its fullest. The fights were always fluid and exciting to watch. I'm glad the show gave me some context as to when I needed to watch Hoshi no Umi, which I did right away. I'll catch up on Tsuki ni Naku once all three episodes of that are released, but I think I'll enjoy it just the same.
The characters and basic events are similar to the first anime, but they feel much more fleshed out. The writing feels more streamlined, too. All anime is basically original to me, with very few exceptions, so while they changed the start, it blended in as naturally as anything else. The characters remain fun to watch. Touka and Hime's tsundereness and Kotoha's Kotoha and Ao being adorable. Everyone was in top form.
And the presence of boobs and panties. I liked the series not in spite of the fanservice, but because of the fanservice. It was never in your face, but it was never downplayed either. When you were going to see underwear, you saw underwear. Being free from TBS allowed the series to finally do that, and it gave it a bit of a unique flavor.
Generally I prefer more anime song specialty singers, from the Lantises and Pony Canyons of the world, so while I generally am ambivalent to the bigger label bands doing an OP, I must admit that "Sakura no Ato" was incredibly catchy. And it flowed with the animation of the OP really well, too. The ED, while not as good, was also catchy. The character songs all hit it out of the park, with the town anthem being played on repeat a lot these days.
Final Thoughts: Though my thoughts on remakes haven't changed, my thoughts on Yozakura have. I like what this series was able to do, showing that Tatsunoko's got a lot of skill, able to draw out the strengths of the material and make something that was just fun to watch. (With a little fanservice.)
A good portion of my fall shows are continuing, and even more are set to begin. Happy 2014!

Other than the Yuyushikis, I have no idea what the other properties are.
Butt-biting Bug, Bushiroad, Black Bullet.
I'd just say that Natsume isn't one giant continuous story, but rather lots of one episode stories, with perhaps a handful of two episode ones. So it would be pretty friendly to watching in spurts.

The World God Only Knows II - 9-12
The Student teacher's personality was a little different than I expected. Still super cute though. Loved her love of Wrestling. Reminded me of an old friend of mine.
Elsie counting to 500 was pretty funny.
As for the season finale, MUCH better than Series 1's finale. I just felt awful after watching that one. This was better at least. Was cool to see him playing the game he picked up at the faire. Also lol at Haqua's jabs at it's artwork
Now it's onto Goddesses. Not sure what to expect from this series, but it looks like Kanon's back. All we need is Shiori and we're good to go. <3

The new Yozukura Quartet is not really a remake so much as it is a more faithful adaptation of the manga.
"Remake" most of the time has the connotation of "more faithful" attached to it anyway, so to me, there's not much of a difference in the choice of words.

There was a pre-airing last Sunday. There are finally subs available, which aren't great, but they're workable enough. So some initial thoughts:
The main character is quite likable. Definitely not a "Get in the fucking robot" type of character. Not nearly as timid as Haruto so far. Hina is fairly likable as well, but who knows how she'll be after the events of the first episode.
The show looks pretty nice. I'm not a fan of the general character aesthetics, but I can deal with them.
For all the Valvrave jokes, it's really doesn't feel like Valvrave. I mean there's a twist, it was blatantly obvious that there was going to be one, but it was introduced fairly early on instead of as a cliffhanger.
In any case, it was a very solid first episode. For people curious what the twist is, think
