They're also little more than extended setup in the grand scheme of things

This is pretty much a filler arc.
Wizard Barristers - Episode 10
Considering this episode was once against powered by "super" Korean studios Hanjin and Jiwoo, it was actually pretty exciting visually. I mean, it was pretty ugly at times, and faces were pretty off model, but the action at the start was done pretty well and the major plot exposition for the rest of the episode was well directed. There aren't any real surprises on this show, but it definitely invokes all the feelings you would expect from the sort of show it is. Bad guys being BAD. Corruption being CORRUPT. Sinister plans feeling SINISTER. And everything feels like it's leading up to a big action packed climax. Yum. Just don't try to find much logic and realism to any of the storytelling. Lolol.

I love this show. This original anime arc might not be super ambitious, but it sure is delivering on the themes the series built on. It kinda feels like a sort of side story which could exist in the manga, exploring some of the stuff in Yato's past and dynamics of his relationship with Hiyori which has already been implied throughout the series. It's not groundbreaking, and yes it does feel a bit forced, but it also totally works for me. It feels like a good way to end the anime at a point like this, with cool action, a strong adversary, and the stakes being the friendships we've seen built up throughout the series. Did I mention I love sword fights? Because I love sword fights!

Pao Pao! Our mid season upgrade + OP change is here! On the whole these episodes were pretty good, not as good as the last bunch (nothing beats out Episode 24 so far).
Pao is well a cute elephant that's a bit like Dumbo really (in that he can fly), I'm indifferent on him at the moment but we'll see how he pans out I suppose. It also

Episode 29 was pretty weird, who was that mysterious kid who sounds just like Athrun Zala? What mission was he doing and why couldn't he be seen by Doremi and the rest? Very suspicious.
Also everyone's becoming ill at the same time, the Queen, Yuki and Aiko's Dad all taken out at the same time by summer colds. This must mean that the Queen has given them all a cold or one of those two are secretly the Queen.

I don't know what happened between this and the original Clannad, but the visuals have really stepped up in quality. Even the direction too, this actually feels like a proper anime instead of an animated VN.

Feels like I stepped into a different random episode halfway in when the anime shifted to Misae's backstory. Then there are these voices Okazaki is hearing. Really weird stuff are happening.

I mean, I embraced the dumb, but the mechanical action was really bad. That's why I stopped.

storylines are one of my top 5 most hated ones. It's an easy to add cheap drama. It's fine when it's a short story, but when it's a big one it just seems.... ugh.
I still love the show and yeah, I'll finish it as I still love the characters and the action. I feel that with this end of episode I'll feel empty though. Like the property has a lot of potential but the anime didn't even scratch the surface. A lot of people watching might jump into the manga, but it's relatively new so not much material is out there.

It kinda gets better in that regard. But it's more about the dumb.
If the dumb can offset the bad for you then it wins. If not you will still hate it.
The solicitations aren't up on Amazon yet but by the looks of things Slam Dunk anime is getting the bluray treatment. 5 boxes 16 000 yen each, first one in July, new box every two months. Don't take it as a 100% confirmation, but it's near certain I'd say.

War in the Pocket
You've started well! You could watch the original series if you want some of the backstory to some of the events of War in the Pocket. Or you could go for one of the AU series like G Gundam and Turn A Gundam (go for those two as they are the best that the AU have to offer). If you want to see the Kampfer being awesome again watch Gundam Build Fighters as it is one of the main Gunpla used in the series.
I might watch the original just to get a sense of background for the franchise, though i've heard it doesn't always hold up that well these days.

It's fine really. If you're worried about the quality of the animation the movie trilogy does a good job condensing the series and bumps the quality a bit. Although there's the possibility of a remake series (Gundam The Origin) being announced this week so wait and see on that one.

Not much for me to say here, Hime wanted surprise party, Megumi is too nosy. Seiji treated like shit as a result. Yuuko made an offhand appearance, since apparently that's all she's good for until she becomes Honey.
I think though... part of the episode rubs me the wrong way. Hime talks about how Megumi is always bailing her out, and it also happens in the battle. I'd probably dismiss this remark if it wasn't for the fact that I disregarded how Megumi's mother acted, only to be proven wrong. I think here, when Megumi says she needs Hime to be strong, it doesn't sound kind. Rather, it sounds like a condescending remark. That new special was pretty cool though.
