what is the true difference between a LN and a Novel?
I always considered Hibike! Euphonium a novel since each volume is over 300 pages.

Was SAO ever considered poorly directed?

The worst criticism I have for Yamato 2199 is that the CG early on is quite weightless, but that gets better as the series progresses. I really enjoyed the Odyssey of the Celestial Ark film when I saw it recently and am excited to see what Izubuchi will do with the second season.
im still pretty sure Hibike! Euphonium is a novel not a LN
THE MECHA TRANSFORMS INTO A DRAGON CONTROLLED BY REINS YES YES THIS IS SO GOOD.
Publication.
Publishers like Dengeki Bunko and MF Bunko have the Light Novel Label so their works are Light Novels.
Despite what people initially thought, it has nothing to do with the size of the volumes. Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere has massive volumes each about 3 regular LN volumes in thickness.
So it's like the western publishing business where genre labels are largely a matter of marketing and demographic targets.
The Vision of Escaflowne - 4
Man, four episodes in and there hasn't been a dull one yet! Every time it looks like things are going to settle down Hitomi gets another vision and things get crazy shortly after!
Toradora - 01-03

How based is Dilandu?
Now see everybody, this is a perfect case of commenting before finishing a show.
I'm not exactly enjoying his dub voice (he almost sounds like a girl) that much, but he's pretty good as a ruthless villain.
I would imagine that LN also operates with a lower and easier set of kanji.
Are you trying to sucker MetroidPrimeRib into watching this terrible show?
I think that's true? But isn't Nisio notorious for all his kanji wordplay? There was that one fight in Medaka Box with the girl who messed with Kanji and the translators said it was a nightmare.

Oh no. Im usually for dubs but the escaflowne one is terrible especially for the changes to the music.

A practical comparison would be young adult novels vs novels.
Same guy also didn't seem to like Sword Art either.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199's success is mainly due to its director and writer, Yutaka Izubuchi, who is a strongly talented creator. Izubuchi began as a mechanical designer; his most prominent work in that regard is doing designs for Patlabor as part of Headgear. He since branched out into directing and writing; he directed Rahxephon and wrote Skull Man. He had a strong vision for how to remake Yamato, and that vision elevates the entire production. There is very strong visual design throughout, from the Yamato monitors to alien planets. The writing is in the tradition of classic science fiction, in the vein of something like Star Trek: The Original Generation, and in addition to being well structured overall has time for episodic diversions such as an exploration of the nature of androids and robots. Even the enemy side gets fleshed out nicely over the course of the series.

I'd like to also give a brief comment on Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei: it's not bad, and Shaft throws in a lot of gimmicks over the course of the series to try to mix things up, but I felt the formula was getting stale by the end of the first season and so haven't felt motivated to watch beyond that. Also, the production values of the first season are really low. So I wouldn't prioritize that series.
Gate Episode 15
Dumb boring plot focusing on worst girl. Dull.
Who is best girl in GATE?
Rory.
"Insert whatever lame Bloodborne joke you want here."
Can I get a source on that?
Rory.
Yeh, I can count the shows that had a few terrible, and yes, I mean genuinely terrible, first episodes and then turned around on zero hands.
Toradora will not be the exception. You do not redeem the non-existence of good character writing early on by piling it on after the fact, as I've pointed out with the mother's example.
Which season was the really abstract one of zetsubou sensei?
Because fuck that season
Mononoke 10-12 END
The one problem I have, and this isn't the shows fault, are Crunchyrolls absolutely TERRIBLE subs. I don't know if this is on CR or Toei for providing the subs, but they are hardsubbed, the dialogue runs over other lines (for example if two characters are talking at the same time, instead of showing both lines, the one who talks second will overrun the first line even if the first line is only shown for half a second. That's not even going into typos and grammatical errors. Amateur hour is too kind for these garbage subs and they are by far the worst subs I've ever seen on a professional site..
