Well, for one thing, OWG requires you to be familiar with the Digimon universe.

Our War Game is enhanced by being familiar with Digimon, but I think it can be enjoyed even if you don't have any prior experience with the series. The film does a good job of setting up who all the major characters are.

Although, being the fan that I am, I'm probably the worst person to judge this.

Flashbacking was slightly better than DRAMAing. Not sure how I feel about this plot, it'll probably be cringeworthy drama and that'll be before they somehow manage to squeeze in some more DRAMA for the hell of it.

No, but given that the plot shares some common ground you can compare them.

I think that characters and animation are far better in SW (I saw the digimon first series, so I know). The plot being good too, there is nothing that could move the balane in Digimon's favor.
