What a bland and ugly experience. Original Soul Eater wasn't anything special, but at least it had nice animations and some charismatic characters to help make it watchable for a bit. This on the other hand has nothing. This is why spin-offs are forever bad.

This is some hot garbage. Take a story that tries to be serious and dark and insert every shitty anime cliche and pandering and you get this mess. The little bit of the trailer I saw made this look like some action anime, instead I get a little girl trying to sleep with the main character. Don't waste your time on it.

I mean obviously I don't agree and I think the character designs are quite unique. Kanade Tachibana, TK, Matsushida the 5th, Shinta, Iwasawa, Yui and Naoto all had great, unique designs I thought.

I was so hyped to watch this when I started reading, but then I saw this:



It killed my desire a bit, but I'll still give it a shot, since I enjoyed Heartcatch.

In the usual episode there are only a few off frames, but one ep was mildly off model on average and then episode 10 was absolutely horrid from an animation direction standpoint. It's not a common issue, but it has definitely cropped up and it needed to be said.

Mamoru Hoshino might be a name to be wary of.

Also, to be fair, Sailor Moon had its off episodes too, so hopefully it ends up being a small fraction.

Haruhi was demanding, listened to no one and was illogical and wanted to have fun.

Yurippe was a leader, gave people purpose, actively listened to the group for suggestions was always calm and logical and had a serious goal in mind.

I mean the show came together at the very end but up until that point it was a jumbled mess. Plus I liked Yuzuru Otonashi more then Riki. I cared more about the plight for the cast of Angel Beats characters then I did for Little Busters characters.

Angel Beats was a 26 episode show crammed into a single season. Perhaps it would have worked out if it had the time to develop, in spite of how it looked, but it was really a jumbled mess because it had to cram in all these plot points.

To be fair, she isn't anywhere near as much of a jerk and has something resembling empathy.

Of course that may change since I only watched the first 3 episodes of Angel Beats and dropped Haruhi after like 2 or something.

Soul Eater Not! 01

Blazing through the back half of the first season in preparation for this one was unnecessary in one sense, with it taking place before the events of that season really begin. But it refamiliarized me with the world. And even if the character design is different and the energy is much more lower-key than the main series, all the familiar elements are there. The weird, laughing sun, and cameos from almost all of the main cast. No word from Death himself, but speaking cameos from Maka, Black Star and Tsubaki were much appreciated.

Soul Eater, but done in more of a girl's comedy way with a yuri love triangle sounds like a neat concept. It combines the low-key femininity of something like a Sakura Trick or an A Channel with the horror-pop action series of Soul Eater, and while there are times where they brush up against each other, I want to see where this goes. OP and ED are nice, Tsugumi's cute, Anya's a good Hayami role, and Meme's also cute. Cuteness is justice!

Well, that's convincing enough to me to keep my plans to watch this.

I had no idea CR even picked this up, and they still haven't put up an announcement on their page. But prefectural comedy magical girl shorts are right up my alley. And the designs were decided on by pixiv!

Speaking of magical girls, Black Bullet pulled the same thing Servant x Service did last year and changed its homepage to its show-within-a-show magical girl series (in this case, Tenchu Girls), which sold me on the series. The show itself is another post-apocalyptic alien war, but Enju is adorable and the show has enough levity amongst the bloody bug fights that it looks like it'll be a good popcorn anime.

Magica Wars definitely looks like my kind of show. Unfortunately its very short. All these shows with magical girls are names so similarly. Its kind of confusing.

Heh, I thought Index and Shana killed my interest in dumb LN-ass scifi/fantasy shit but I found this pretty fun! Nothing amazing but the action scenes were pretty decent, Enju is hnnnnnnnng, there's a seductive and creepy mortician(?)-sensei and Rikiya Koyama is voicing a villain of sorts. Also lolis are saving the planet or something, good enough for me!

Enju definitely looks squee. I might watch just for her. At least a little bit.

Kobato. 1

Cute humor a la CLAMP? Okay, let's see where this goes.

So the story of this show is apparently about a girl named DobatoKobato and her talking dog doll/guardian Ioryogi. Kobato wants to "go places", and to achieve that, she apparently needs to collect broken hearts by first curing them. Ioryogi tests her social skills, keeps her out of trouble and tries to make sure she adapts to Earth's habits ASAP so they can get to collecting these hearts



The show looks nice and Kobato is definitely cute and crazy, lacking in any common sense or caution, but while her character's effective, it feels also rather unoriginal, so I'm so very thankful that Ioryogi's in this, because he just steals the show whenever possible.

Usually mascot characters tend to have a cute personality, but Ioryogi here is a complete opposite of Kobato. He's temperamental, rough, a bit mischievous and has street smarts that Kobato lacks. He feels like a 30-something yakuza guy who's taking care of a young relative, especially in his voice. Oh, also, he can breathe fire. Badass.

It's enjoyable enough and it is decent eye candy, so I'm definitely going to keep watching this
