Winter-Spring 2014 Anime |OT3| People incapable of guilt usually do have a good time

But don't you want to find out what happens to Sayaka and Kyoko? Haha.

Rebellion is an excellent movie through and through but its intense controversy surrounds its ending which you can only figure out yourself. I'll leave it at that and let you decide for yourself, however there are talks/inklings the series will get another installment (unknown whether a new series or film) and it will do good to watch Rebellion beforehand if it comes to fruition.

Well I will be sure to watch it when and if another continuation comes along. Until then I think I am all magic girl'd out. No more magic girl recommendations for a long time. ;)

So did you guys like the way I did impressions with Madoka and want me to do it like that this point forward? Or was it a failed experiment and I should not use it anymore/go back to what I was doing before?

I enjoyed reading your play-by-play impressions. Keep going with it, but also include your summary as you did near the end of the series.

I think Gargantia has spoiled me on computerized partner characters. Al is all right, but this episode is just making me miss Chambro.

Mao's so cool; I wish we could actually see that story animated instead of just her telling it.

In my ideal world LNs wouldn't exist. Then the whole thread would be revolving around how people are instead talking about the next worst thing!

It's okay, not everyone can appreciate shows like From the New World. I don't hold it against you, but it was one of the standout works of last year.

I will say I appreciated From the New World, as it led to one of the most amusing mirror posts between DTL and myself.

maybe we should just blame ducky and dres for not banning lewd posters enough~
yea this

AnimeGAF should just make its own forum. ( ̄ー ̄)
rip animegaf reddit

Everyone that posts in this, the manga thread, or the toonami thread has shit taste. If you post in two or more of these threads your taste is double the shit.

Toonami-GAF is more or less at the mercy of the showrunners at Adult Swim so they get slim pickings for anime. Considering how desperate they are for the afterschool Toonami days of yore, it's no surprise that they have pretty low standards for what's acceptable as a "good show", e.g. Deadman Wonderland, Naruto, Bleach. The really good shows they have are all retreads of old stuff most people here watched ages ago like GITS, Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist. In contrast, just last year we had:

Space Battleship Yamato 2199
Uchouten Kazoku
Aku no Hana
From the New World
JoJo
Gundam Build Fighters
Silver Spoon
Girls und Panzer
Monogatari S2
Wolf Children
Little Witch Academia
Garden of Words

Not a spectacular year but more good shows than Toonami has had since its reinstatement in 2012. Is it any wonder that the people over there look at us as elitist snobs because we're not enjoying the same things they are and really, regularly shitting on popular stuff like Deadman Wonderland and SAO?
I'm pretty much done going to bat for Toonamigaf everytime someone says something ill-informed about it (partly because Toonamigaf does the same), but they're not over there watching every Saturday because they're desperate for the "afterschool Toonami days of yore". A good handful of the community didn't even watch Toonami before it's revival. It's a more casual community who watch a programming block once a week and discuss it. And for a lot of them, the shows that are being played aren't "retreads", they're either seeing them for the first time or the first time in years.

Wow, I think CR has everything I'm watching this season.

The only important question regarding No Game No Life 1: Was Mofukichi present?
I too must know this.

They should ban office supplies instead.

I bought it the other night. Better not disappoint!

Missionary position with the lights turned off ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
That too has its appeal sometimes.

Is this an actual functioning school? That blog post doesn't make it seem like the school is running.
It's a closed down elementary school, re-opened as a tourist attraction after K-ON!!

Picked up.
*smh*

Toonami offers a natural group watch setting, something that AnimeGAF has tried to do on many occasions outside the thread proper.

No Game No Life 1

Holy shit I love this. I honestly wasn't expecting much from this one, but it's giving me all the right vibes. Feels very much like the setup of Mondaiji, with crazy OP protagonists being pulled from their own boring world to a gambling-driven world where they can put their skills to good use. And I really liked that setup in Mondaiji, which is why I was a little disappointed when the series ended up kind of average when all was said and done. Something about the execution of this one makes me feel optimistic that it will fare better.

I love how completely broken the main characters are in terms of skills. I love the dynamic between them (in fact, perhaps my only disappointment here is that we probably won't see any more of them back in their room playing online games together, because the way they functioned together as a perfect team in that environment was kind of beautiful in a weird way). Obviously I love the loli (and I won't deny I appreciated the delicious fanservice shot jgminto was so kind as to link). And I love the prospect of a series driven by a variety of high-stakes games.

Oh, and the colour scheme is somewhere around GoHands-filter levels of ridiculous, yet somehow it works. Looks really...distinctive.

Actually, though I said "my only disappointment" up there, there was one more thing that disappointed me about this episode - how soon it seemed to end. I haven't seen an anime that made 24 minutes feel like it went by so fast in quite a while. Really looking forward to watching more of this next week.

Never said that No Game No Life is really great, I'm just expressing that you shouldn't call LN shit because their are some great ones out their and that people have different tastes.

Well, I agree that LN itself shouldn't be called shit instantly. Since we got many great stuffs from them in the 2000's era like Kino no Tabi, Spice and Wolf, Durarara!! and of course Baccano!. But it become increasingly hard to say anything positive on LN adaptation, which in turn attached a stigma on LN itself, because the low quality material massively outnumber the good one.

Any. I'm just asking the people that say the medium has no right to exist if they've actually read something in it.

Only one I've read was Danganronpa Zero, which I liked as I'm a fan of the series.

The media does have the right to exist as their are some great LN and people who say LN shouldn't exist, then that means manga shouldn't exist as their are some terrible ones out their.

[hyperbole]Gravity is a human achievement and I genuinely believe that I will never see a film that celebrates the possibilities of cinematography, editing, and film as a whole in my life time. I truly think it is as revolutionary as when films added a soundtrack or used colour for the first time.[/hyperbole]

It's everything that anime can do, but doesn't have the budget to actually achieve.

Has anyone here actually read an LN and not just seen an adaptation?

I've read all of Haruhi, most of Shana (got completely up-to-date on the series while I was in Japan a few years back, but never got around to reading the last few novels after they came out >.>), some of Index, all of OreImo, almost all of Accel World and SAO (I was up to date on both of them not that long ago, but Kawahara writes so goddamn fast I think I'm probably a couple volumes behind on each at this point), and I'm still working my way through the last few volumes of the Monogatari series. Oh, and a few videogame spinoff novels. The BlazBlue prequels and Danganronpa Zero.

...I think that's everything.

SHIT FOR SHIT THRONE
So it's like anime.

It's also like manga, and novel, and mostly other thing! After all, Sturgeon's Law at work here!
But when too many low quality material from certain medium adapted to other one in rather massive quantity, sooner or later a negative stigma will attached to that medium. It's like, video game adaptation of movie.

Honestly, I believe there are many hidden gems in LN, it just the language barrier and constant exposure of the shitty one that makes them really hard to find.

Not much different to manga really. And really the thread would be pretty quiet if all anime that were based on manga or novels were banned.

Yeah. I read quite a few of them. Stuck relying on dubious fan translations though, not that I don't appreciate their hard work.

Mostly my reading happens because the anime just stop, I haven't really read any without already liking an anime thats based on it.

Happiness Charge Precure 10

Well I for one am SHOCKED at that reveal at the end. SHOCKED!

I can't say I see what everybody sees in Honey's song. I mean, it's a song about rice. Rice is fine but I mean...it's rice. Anyway though, I like how varied Honey's fighting style is and how many uses her baton has. Could make for some very creative uses in fights down the line.

One of the show's sponsors is a product you eat with rice.
