Winter-Spring 2014 Anime |OT3| People incapable of guilt usually do have a good time

Your unusual convention of watching the show in chronological order but listing the episode numbers by broadcast order is really bugging me for some reason.

Enjoying the impressions though.

It actually bugs me too but I do it because otherwise people will be confused on what episode I am actually on. People see me moving back and forth I think will realize I am watching it in chronological order hopefully.

And thanks! ^_^

I saw your comment after this about anime's serialized nature but wouldn't this be true for a lot of entertainment mediums? Video games can have a lot of time investment as well for example, so naturally you hope the game doesn't turn bad in its final or later act.
I think for RPGs that would be the case, but less so for a more arcade style of game where you can literally walk away from it after a credit.

Which avatar was that?

Before your magical girl avatars I remember you had a couple of Twilight Sparkle and I think just general furry/mofu character art before that. Before that I remember a picture of someone wearing a hat and there was a bit of a shadow covering his eyes.
I had this pic of Hiroshi Abe from CHANGE:

But it was really meant be a continuation of this:

Toonami-GAF is more or less at the mercy of the showrunners at Adult Swim so they get slim pickings for anime. Considering how desperate they are for the afterschool Toonami days of yore, it's no surprise that they have pretty low standards for what's acceptable as a "good show", e.g. Deadman Wonderland, Naruto, Bleach. The really good shows they have are all retreads of old stuff most people here watched ages ago like GITS, Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist. In contrast, just last year we had:

Space Battleship Yamato 2199
Uchouten Kazoku
Aku no Hana
From the New World
JoJo
Gundam Build Fighters
Silver Spoon
Girls und Panzer
Monogatari S2
Wolf Children
Little Witch Academia
Garden of Words

Not a spectacular year but more good shows than Toonami has had since its reinstatement in 2012. Is it any wonder that the people over there look at us as elitist snobs because we're not enjoying the same things they are and really, regularly shitting on popular stuff like Deadman Wonderland and SAO?

Man how does it feel to talk out of your asshole? It's just a thread with a bunch of people who like to watch cartoons in a group and talk about them (and other stuff). We sure as hell aren't ignorant of what is going on in the greater world of animation nor do we have lowered standards or whatever other nonsense stereotype you've bought into. If there's some actual beef between ToonamiGaf vs. AnimeGaf (and I don't even think there is), posts like these are a great way to start beef >_>

Hey when you read Volume 1 of Mahouka how did you feel about it, did you think it was good?

It was wordy, very wordy. It wasn't bad and didn't seem completely terrible. Then again, I already knew what I was getting myself into.

What's ironic is that how much I enjoy(ed) the Railgun-verse I still haven't finished Railgun S. I blame Funimation for not sharing the license with CR

Nothing to say here, other than the subber ain't giving any fucks. I wonder if it's the guy who used to post here and who did the Squid Girl subs. lol

People really don't say this and it really is just the subber doing whatever...right?

I haven't seen the episode but I saw another picture with those subs that show what they're talking about.

Weird phrases describing a girls figure reminds me of when someone made the comment about being "built like a brick sh*thouse".
I was just "Huh?!"
They were surprised that I was surprised. "You think I'm making an insult? I'm making a complement. It means you have a really nice body. You've never heard that before?"
No, I hadn't heard that before and it didn't really sound like a compliment. If you're going to compliment a girl's body I would think someone would come up with something a little less crass sounding.

I see, what about other regions though? I'm eyeing a uk Cowboy Bebop BD but I want to make sure it's playable.
I think that depends on their license restrictions, which is per title... the super nerds at bluray.com or mania.com would probably know for sure (and the people who own the set here, I assume). But Bebop itself is licensed by Funimation anyway iirc, so you could wait for that?

Knew it was wordy, thought that's a plus for me due to the fact I like when novels get really detailed in what their explaining.

I can't remember what show it was, but there was another instance of where the subber didn't give a fuck and went crazy with the subs.

And, of course, de geso turned into a myrial of squid puns.

I've never heard someone use brick shithouse to describe a woman though. Unless she was a body builder?

Japan: rarely. Utterly rare to see one locked.
US; Yes for non Aniplex releases. Some have region B access though due to mastering/authoring for UK/AU.
UK/AU: YES!
You know, I guess it makes sense that Japanese discs aren't locked, since they don't care if you are a Brit who wants to spend a hundred bucks on two episodes.

I had no idea that you could have multiregion discs though.

I remember the first set of Bebop blurays in the UK they had forgot to lock the region for the set.

I think the bad part about the wordy-ness isn't that it's there, it just pops up randomly at times.

You have something going on and the novel basically stops everything to explain some new aspect of the world to you.

Maybe if the K-On girls show up to their school on a field trip, KyoAni can be convinced to make another season.

This is where knowledge of rightsholders and who actually produces the show matters. With utterly few exceptions, studios do not pick/choose what to animate nor would they have control over franchises.

Hyouka was written by Honobu Yonezawa and published by Kadokawa Shoten in their Kadokawa Bunko label. The anime adaptation was produced by:
Kadokawa Shoten (and subgroup Kadokawa Pictures)
Kyoto Animation
Lantis
Klockworx

K-on! was written/drawn by Kakifly and published by Houbunsha in their Manga Time KR comics label. The anime adaptation was produced by:
TBS (major financer)
Pony Canyon
Movic
Kyoto Animation

Guess who has the rights to those two franchises? If you said the publisher, you're right. Guess what that means? A crossover isn't happening.

Thanks for the info. I'll just hold off on it for now.

Whoops. lol

I wonder who gets more pissed at that mistake - Japan or America?

Probably America because Funimation had the rights for the set in NA. I don't think anybody really imported it because it was only the first half of Bebop (which also had some disc problems) and the second half set would be region lock to the UK.

I've heard it before personally, but I can't say I remember the context in the times I have heard it.

But don't you want to find out what happens to Sayaka and Kyoko? Haha.

Rebellion is an excellent movie through and through but its intense controversy surrounds its ending which you can only figure out yourself. I'll leave it at that and let you decide for yourself, however there are talks/inklings the series will get another installment (unknown whether a new series or film) and it will do good to watch Rebellion beforehand if it comes to fruition.

Edit: People who love Rebellion realize Madoka for what it prides itself on: a deconstructrion of a genre
i have to agree on that .

For me Rebellion is a MUST see if you liked the series. If only for the fatc that it give a much needed perspective on each character.
FMP The Second Raid 10

I think Gargantia has spoiled me on computerized partner characters. Al is all right, but this episode is just making me miss Chambro.

Mao's so cool; I wish we could actually see that story animated instead of just her telling it.

The arbalest is the original. Chamber is a nice evolution but sousuke conversation will always have a place in my heart If not for the fact that both evolved nicely across the series.

That would be it. Yotsuya is the hat wearing character from Maison Ikkoku.

Ah,yeah, the first picture there is the one I'm thinking of. I think that's the earliest avatar of yours that I remember because you had that when Madoka was airing and that was the season I found the anime threads.

The second one then is what you and Basileus777 are referring to,okay.

Hah, that's just madp. ;p

I think PreCure is an okay show.

I can't remember what show it was, but there was another instance of where the subber didn't give a fuck and went crazy with the subs.

And, of course, de geso turned into a myrial of squid puns.

I've never heard someone use brick shithouse to describe a woman though. Unless she was a body builder?

No, a curvacious body.
I looked it up later and apparently it's something like they were well built, thus basically high quality, which is why it's a compliment. For girls it's supposed to mean you have a nice figure apparently. It still just sounds weird to me.

Unfortunately, not everyone is adept at the English language. :/

Which are you referring to?

I was joking, of course.

Besides, I'd rather see a Hyouka/Naruto crossover anyway.

No, a curvacious body.

I have never heard this term used to describe a woman in this way. Weird.

Air 12 END

Dang, Misuzu you really know how to tug at the heart.

Wait...huh.
What a...non-end. I'll reflect on it some more but this was kinda a mess of an ending, unless they were trying to say that curses shall continue forever? I mean it was great that Misuzu gets an emotional conclusion, but really I was kinda expecting an that had more Yukito, who without question, got sidelined hard at the end of this whole thing. Strange ending.

Well, I still have a summary/recap episode I guess, plus two bonus Air in Summer episodes. Final remarks then.

Angel Beats! 12

Shit's winding down. The sudden emptiness left by people as
they get obliterated ala BATMAN SO THAT'S WHAT THAT'S LIKE
is pretty heavy. I liked that effect.

Yo, what the fuck is up with Yurippe's writing? Like, jesus, what a tonal shift there for a second. You could've handled that a lot better, guys.
And you fuck up those computers without trying to help your dude who got devoured earlier? If you were some how able to escape from being an NPC, surely you can figure out a way to save him? Nope, fuck these monitors!

No real villain behind this, why am I not fucking surprised. So what, are you gonna spend the last episode hunting down the Programmer or what? I thought you were probably gonna spend the last episode saying good bye, not still trying to wrap up setting shit. smh.

Oh well, last episode soon.

Kiniro Mosaic 11

Okay, I know I was asking for more Engrish, but...yikes.

I microwave steaks.
this series is so easy to marathon. I love shows that flow. Doesnt hurt that Im squeeing 90% of the time its on.

Yes! Except for the final stretch, I get so hesitant to finish it. And I heard there's already a season 3 out! I hope sentai brings it over.

I've never ever heard this before. Is this really used in the US?

Amazeballs I've seen on the internet, hopefully no one has ever uttered it aloud in the real world.
I've heard people say it on streams and podcasts, but never in real life. But always in reference to muscular men and never in reference to women.

I think I've heard kids say Amazeballs at one point. The same way that I heard kids say the worlds "lulz" instead of laughing.

Thats how Crunchyroll subbed that scene in the episode.
