Witcher 3 gameplay from YouTubers from CDPR event

I really like that the wild hunt is
elvish
. It flips the status quo on its ears and begs a lot of questions.

Being
mega-wraiths
would be kind of cheesy and meaningless. You already fight a lot of normal ones and they're already a threat to everyone in the first place.

One thing I thought was pretty damn awesome is how the Griffin's wing beats blow around the ground vegetation.

Woooohooo.. that looks really nice :)

Anyway, can some russian friend help me understand what does it say in this screen?

Have you ever had sex with a woman where you are so close to an orgasm but you stay at the verge for good 10-15 minutes? I'm talking about the kind of sex where you are getting cramps in all kinds of muscles you didn't know you had before, the kind of sex where you are glad the lights are off because you know your the expression on your face would be an instant turn off to your girlfriend, when you feel that you must look like you are reverting to a neanderthal stage.

That's my hype level right now.

and much like the hypothetical woman in your story, you're going to walk away from this experience incredibly disappointed and full of regret.

TW3 is going to be the biggest letdown of the year, without a doubt.

I'm skeptical, but it's looking great thus far. I guess we'll find out in three weeks.

Do you have any reasons to support your claim?

Oh no! The man hath spoken. Preorder cancelled!

Don't get too hyped people, steady!

Remain calm, wait until they draw near!

Ah who am I kidding, let it wash over me.

Oh let it wash. Wash over me....

Seriously though, I want that PS4 footage stat!

what are the chances of TW3 going down as the greatest rpg of all time

or at least the greatest wrpg of all time...?

what do you guys expect reviews wise

You kind sir, has the soul of a poet.

Dat Vilgefortz conversation in Time of Contempt.

Yup.

Currently reading that right now. About 2/3 through it. Should at least finish with Baptism of Fire before Witcher 3 comes out, though I hope to be through Tower of the Swallow, too. Would be rad if I could read all of 'em, but I think I might be a bit too slow for that.

i was insanely hyped about W2 when it came out, having played W1 enhanced. W2 lived up to everything and more. Everyone has different methods of measuring these things, but i'm fully confident W3 will live up to MY hype.

My greatest fear is that they will fall into the issue of open world games where it feels like you are running from destination to destination just clearing crap off a map. They have addressed this, so I for the first time think this game won't run into that issue.

Just finished Lady of the Lake, damn what an amazing series. Milva, Cahir and Regis are great characters. Time to replay Witcher 1 and 2, thankfully its been a while so I can barely remember what happens.

I know W3 has kind of crazy wind (it would take a serious storm to bend the trees the way even normal wind blows them in W3), but I actually like it. It's refreshing to see that kind of livening up of an RPG world. I guess like hairworks, it doesn't look quite appropriate a lot of the time, but it's definitely cool as a concept to the point that I enjoy seeing it regardless of the oddities.

That's awesome. Funny how everybody misses, horse included!

Haha yeah, I noticed that too. Geralt misses, the griffin misses, and the horse is back there kicking away in panic. I just thought the way the griffin's wing beats blow around the ground vegetation was a nice detail.

Vesemir isn't any help, either. He just stood there in parrying stance.

The Wild Hunt basically being just elves under the armor is pretty anticlimactic. Would be much cooler if they were some sort of wraiths or something
.

Pretty shitty of you...I get the feeling you ruined a good part of the story for myself and many others.

I understood that their statement about GTX980 requirement included HairWorks being on on top of everything being on Ultra. TressFX, at least iteration that TR uses, is such abomination and kills performance like no ones business :(

All the preview vids we've had from the game have been at ultra WITHOUT hairworks.

Some of the preview people turned it on and noted that it tanked the framerate. Nvidia weren't showing the game with it enabled because apparently they're still optimising the system but there's no way it'll be low impact enough to keep at the 60FPS that people were playing at.

Apparently, even with the 980m, there were still drops here and there.

Pretty shitty of you...I get the feeling you ruined a good part of the story myself and some other people.

If it makes you feel any better,
my impression was that they weren't JUST elves. they always seemed like more. What I dont know and can't promise. But it's not the she-elf that guy plowed in witcher 1.

And look at Geralt's health bar. It's still depleted even though he dodged the attack.
I guess the aoe damage is going to be varied and depends on target's location.

eh, as others mentioned, it is something already established in the books and also in TW2, so I doubt it is going to be some type of grand reveal in TW3.

He doesnt lose health, hes actually gaining health.

Should Witcher 1 & 2 story really be spoiler tagged in a thread about a direct sequel?

Yea, people really shouldn't be coming into a thread about TW3 and not expecting spoilers of the past games.

is Geralt sort of like Master Chief in the way that he is recognized as the greatest of the Witchers like Chief is the greatest of the Spartans?

Geralt is awesomer. He doesn't fear some scrub showing up for the first time.

The Witcher 3 sellin dem garfix cards

Really though. I purchased 2 970s with this game in mind.

Then they fried my PC/Themselves whilst installing them.

So I bought a new power supply, mother board, and case.

Hopefully the rest still works.

Haven't upgraded for a specific game since Half Life 2.

i guess what i been asking lately is....can this beat out Chrono Trigger for Gaf's essential rpgs? can this go down as the GOAT RPG

i never played the witcher before but; looking at this game...it just amazes me

Spoiler this, if you haven't read the books this is a pretty big reveal.

It would be a good idea to cover this with the spoiler tags so that it isn't ruined for other people. That's really terrible to spoil stuff for people.

Pretty shitty of you...I get the feeling you ruined a good part of the story for myself and many others.

Thats known since the first game and can be seen in the recap for it before The Witcher 2 as you can see in the pics on the previous page.

Legit question: as someone who is very much "gameplay first", has had no prior experience with the Witcher games and sees nothing terribly exciting in what has been shown thus far... To those well and truly aboard, what is all the hype about? Is it the world? The lore? The scope? Are the RPG elements really well done? I am genuinely curious.

All I know is that I've read numerous impressions of TW2 and nearly all of them are caveated with, "the gameplay isn't that great, though".

I was really hyped for the game when they first revealed it and talked a whole bunch about the huge world size and showed the bullshots off. After the torrent of gameplay videos this month I've grown tepid. The graphics aren't as consistently great-looking as they looked in the early screenshots and trailers and the combat looks dull as all hell even being much improved from Witcher 2's system. The story in these games never interested me that much, I just want to see if Geralt ends up with Triss or Yennefer lol. I'm mostly buying this game to fund Cyberpunk 2077 and I know the quests should be pretty fun since they are taking inspiration from Gothic.

Am I naive to hope that Hairworks might be okay with AMD cards and that AMD themselves will have a driver update ready for this game?

We can't really judge it before play it.

Not the gameplay, most of the complaints were about the combat.
It's a bit tricky, yes, but I actually love the depth.

TressFX works on Nvidia, so I expect Hairworks would be the same.

Kinda feeling the same way. =/

Happens often enough with the big releases that you'd think I'd stop falling for the early bullshots by now. Ah well, I'm sure it'll look good. Great even. Just not quite as good as I was hoping.
