The finally realized that they can exist outside their own hardware and PC. I doubt their output has the quality level we are used to on PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

It's funny, that diabolical argument is the one defended here 2-3 months ago in the ABK thread by the vast majority of those who now tell you that the XBOX console is going to disappear and XBOX will be a 3rd party like EA and TakeTwo and that that was the reason to acquire ABK (2 months ago it was "end PS" and "case by case" is a lie)...Master plan

Now what we have to know what the plan is with that hardware and what her goals are with it.
Sell 35-55 million?? So releasing their first party games sooner or later also on PS could make sense.
Sell 60+ or even be "competition" in sales with PS6?? Then the exclusivity of its large franchises will be necessary....

XBOX will continue to have exclusives. In fact, the sources from which the launch of HiFi, SOT etc. to PS and Switch even highlight it. What's more, even in that rumor it appears that FFXVI will come to XBOX

From here, threads like this and reactions to launching HiFi and other games on PS5 falls within what is expected in this console war, desires of some and fears of others.

Over the last year, most of my friends on Xbox have disappeared, moved over to PlayStation, or have simply stopped gaming all together. I've been slowly moving the multiplatform games I care about on Xbox over to my PS5 library during sales and what not.
Last year was a complete dud for Microsoft when it should have been anything but. They had Redfall, Starfield, and Forza Motorsport as heavy hitters and all of them were meh. I would like to say I have faith in them to deliver with games like Avowed but after the last year I just don't. With the recent sales reports showing they were outsold 3:1 by Sony in 2023, I simply cannot see Microsoft turning ABK games into pure Xbox exclusives and limiting their audience to 25% of what it could be on consoles.
People saying "Phil said this" and "Phil said that" also seem to forget that Phil also said, under oath, that if Game Pass doesn't continue to grow exponentially on PC and Cloud by the late 2020's that "I can fairly safely say that if we do not make more progress than this off of console, we would exit the gaming business."
The rest of this generation, PS5 is my primary console and my XSX will be little more than a glorified Game Pass box. Next generation I'm still leaning towards my plan of going completely PC/Switch 2 only since every Microsoft (and nearly every Sony) exclusive ends up on PC eventually.

That's a ranking based on overall revenue I believe, not just for TV's (it's a who is the biggest company ranking rather than being a product category specific one).

Thers still Nintendo and PC to offer gaming alternatives. Is not like MS leaving would change anything, Xbox is already inexistant in some markets. If Sony wants to sell consoles they still need to sell it at a competetive price, otherwise ppl would just get a PC or a Nintendo console. Same goes for games, same goes for services.

if this is the direction they go MS need to start putting their games that need that extra support, for example I always thought now Halo as a GAAS, they are better off getting PS playerbase in and more

You can with Xbplay or some other free but worse apps
It even partially works without an Xbox needed for some titles like Starfield. Chiaki for deck on the discover store also works great for PS and you can customize the bit rate to get better performance than Portal. Only reason for me to keep gaming on Xbox is the fact I just got my dad one for Xmas and we're having a blast with PGA Tour…if that went cross play I'd sell my Xbox.
