It's awfully hard to top $625MM domestically in two weekends. With no China until January, this isn't the most bold prediction one can make.
Star Wars doesn't become a 2016 movie because some of its gross comes in that year.
It's a 2015 movie.

Looking at the UK figures, $48.9m (£32m), which is pretty damn impressive. Jurassic World only did £19m in its first weekend here.
The record opening in the UK is Spectre with £41m, but that shouldn't really count because that opened on a Monday, so was counting pretty much a full week's takings.

The movie has to deserve it.

Home video sales were insane so apparently people enjoyed it beyond the theater. "Deserve" is going to bounce around as a stupidly misused term because, and this is not rocket science, but the people who don't like it doesn't believe it "deserved" it and vice-versa.

People asking why SW would not do as big as JW. We already had the test of Star Wars coming back when we had the prequels; its doing now due to better advertising, less competition and social media.
But really we've already seen it play out. Its amazing how quickly from buying the franchise Disney have launched a new film and really amazing they had it open so highly - they've done a solid job to win people over.

Anyway one of my main issues with JW is Trevorrow. For every interview I'm less confident he understands anything about filmmaking and it's making me nervous about his SW stint. So it was 'just' a mediocre JP reboot but then he started pissing me off.
