But I like Yuna.
It ain't about how hard Star Wars hits
But I like Yuna.
58% male audience for Star Wars is a decent split, IMO. It seemed like something that'd skew closer to 70/30 to me. 58/42 isn't totally awful.
does china care about SW?

They're limited in the amount of foreign films they can show each yearWe'll find out in a couple of weeks!
Pretty crazy that Disney wasn't able to get it out in China this year. Is there something else in Chinese theaters that took priority? I'd have to assume it would have to be a local film.
I'm curious if this weird weekend controversy that seems to be simultaneously miseducating and popularizing the old "mary sue" bullshit will lead to some increased interest from people who otherwise might not have sought it out.
Or if it's just weird weekend internet bullshit that nobody will really remember by Tuesday.

Or they thought Finn was the main character.
Well sure, maybe a few, but the box office story pales in comparison to people just celebrating the movie itselfI'm curious if this weird weekend controversy that seems to be simultaneously miseducating and popularizing the old "mary sue" bullshit will lead to some increased interest from people who otherwise might not have sought it out.

Is Sisters any good?
Colbert can tell you all about thatdoes china care about SW?

I could see people thinking Finn was a JEDI. But I'm not so sure about thinking he's the main character. Marketing made it pretty clear whose movie this was.
Going to sound harsh here but with the main characters being a women and a black guy I feel will hamper the movies legs in the country. Still expect the biggest opening in years there though.does china care about SW?
Does this mean $700 million domestic is possible?
Does this mean $700 million domestic is possible?
Based on averages over the past couple of years, a 3-3.5 multiplier doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility, which would put the domestic run somewhere around $714-833 million.

It was memorial day in '08. I think JW and Dark Knight have the biggest non-holiday Mondays.Really?
Wow, that is pretty incredible. I am kind of surprised that it didn't beat Jurassic World's worldwide total.
I remembered correctly. Here are the top non-holiday Mondays - http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/days/nonholiday.htmIt was memorial day in '08. I think JW and Dark Knight have the biggest non-holiday Mondays.

No there isn't.I know you're being sarcastic but there is a history of Studios doing congratulations to other films that break the opening weekend record, going all the way back to the days of the original star wars

Did James Cameron congratulate himself after Avatar beat Titanic? No there isn't.
There's a history of directors congratulating each other for breaking the all time worldwide record.
Marvel just wanted to make opening weekend an important thing they can draw people's attention to.
How much did JW gross from just China on its opening?
100.1 million.
Even if SW isn't huge there, China being included in SW opening numbers would have crushed JW. We'll never know exactly though, also unclear how it releasing next month there will ultimately affect things.
will the China number for Star Wars be retroactively added to the worldwide opening weekend number?
I mean, it is still an opening weekend, it's just not simultaneous with a bunch of other territories.
