One of my most anticipated games.

Stranger in Paradise showed they can really take the Nioh foundation and do substantial variation on it that is still sick. Spells, class shifting, new weapons, new counter system, new fatigue system.

Can't wait to see what's in store for Wo Long with an emphasis on Chinese martial arts, and more acrobatic movement hopefully. Will probably be the best combat we get in 2023 until Dragon's Dogma 2.

That's great to hear! I love the CC in Nioh 2, such a blast. Will be great running around with my friends again. I'll be rocking Sorceries ofc. I just hope this game is more akin to the visual quality in Nioh as opposed to Stranger in Paradise. I also hope it has those neat little things like interacting with the Oni, those demon walls were fun.

Honestly, I wish they made those games easier. I liked both Nioh games, but there are too many Soulsborne games and my quota of hard long games is full. I wish it was more like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta with more RPG elements.

OR, take a different approach, reduce the time you spend fighting small mobs and increase boss fights and change up the progression, like a mix between Soulsborne and Cuphead.

I feel the same about The Surge games, those games would benefit from not copying the Soulborne style as closely as they do. The setting in those games is great, but it's held back by Soulsborne fanboying devs.

I would love a more RPG-heavy The Surge, with a better story, or even a more Dead Space-ish The Surge would work well too.

Well going by Nioh 2 (which I have the Platinum for) they already did. They introduced a ton of mechanics to counter some of the notorious cheese from the first game so I'm pretty sure Wo Long will have even more QoL changes as well as being better balanced.

Nice.

Nioh 2 had one of the best character creators I've come across.

I just hope it has enough new elements in both gameplay and presentation to feel like a new IP and not just Nioh 3 with a slightly different skin.

NiOh 2 is underrated for how much content is in that game. I didn't realize we were already calling this NiOh 3, but then why would they break a formula that's working just fine for them? I can definitely see this being good.

I didn't like Stranger of Paradise. It was like a watered down NiOh with cringy tough guy attitude. I can see myself skipping some of these. I wasn't a fan of The Surge either. I don't want to overdo it. I once read where the creative side doesn't help itself if it focuses on copying or doing what another creative game maker does. It said that it's best to look outside the medium. If these clones keeping coming, I don't see a point than sticking to the top developers like From Software. It saves me time and money.

I think it's their take on Sekiro.

One of the dev interviews implied that.

We need to see gameplay.
