When the sole reason that "strong woman" exists is to race & gender swap the franchise previous main character because they want a woman in charge, then yes, it is propaganda. It would be like killing off Wonder Woman & making Wonder Man take her place. I imagine the role reversal would not be met with "women who dislike this are all fragile bitches!", but with a "u motherfucking sexist misogynist alt-right fascist incel pigs how dare you!" (insert Greta face).

Naturally I could just respond with a "oh so a movie with a strong male character is propaganda now?", but it would be entirely dishonest considering the intent behind the gender swap. Terminator Dark Fate is a bad joke.

Terminator Dark Fate was worse than I thought it would be, i.e. it's literally a propaganda movie. There are no themes, no morality tale, nothing which made the first 2 movies have more substance & meaning, no, its sole reason for existing was "kill John Connor & make midget Mexican girl new woke badass leader of resistance".

There was no point to any of it, no actual reason for any of it except that one primary plot objective. Who the fuck is "legion", why was there another judgement day? What the hell is even going on? (& why does Schwarzenegger now change diapers, literally?). None of it is given any context or purpose because the sole reason the movie was made was to "correct" the wrong race & gender of the future resistance leader with the woke 2019 politically correct one.

Oh & the special effects were also really bad, with the jumping physics of the bad Terminator particularly "Van Helsing 2004 esque".

And also the most forgettable and boring evil Terminator ever.

The villain is supposed to be the most interesting, cool, and evil. Not here.

What makes T2 work is that Sarah Connor's new badass status came at a cost. Sure, she's no longer the damsel in distress that she was in the first movie. But her obsession and paranoia over the dark future she knows is coming has cost her her relationship with her son. It drives her to almost murder Miles Dyson in front of his own family and she only relents when she realizes that she's become what she despises. Her whole arc in the movie is about finding her humanity again.

James Cameron has gone on record saying that he was shocked that women consider her a role model, when she wasn't meant to be that.

actually they even have in the trailers the two main characters (black obviously) fighting the KKK - quite prominently. So in a small way it has elements of the current cultural zeitgeist in America- but it plays it solidly (well from reviews and box office) rather than just trying to score some points.

I don’t think Charlie’s angels was too woke- I just think it was bad and no one wanted it too. Terminator hasn’t had a good movie in decades. But also both tried to use the media to score some points and it didn’t work.

Again, black panther and captain marvel are “woke “ according to half this forum and they have made more than every other film in this topic out together soooo

Jesus feminism movies with the tough chics alone have been around for a long damn time. Alien was a huge one and even back in the 30s women like Greta garbo did movies where she was tough and in control and hell even dressed like a man. In the 60s to the 70s we saw hundreds of exploitation movies with tough ass chics.

Gay characters have been around for a long damn time even back in the 30s when movies started introducing more "shocking" content to drives sales like hookers, violence and homosexuals. Granted it was subdued somewhat but didnt take long for it to become bigger.

All of those have been around for a long time. It's like people seem to think these things need to be forced into movies when they have been there all along, but they werent there hitting you in the head with a hammer which made them perfectly fine. Soon as you start pushing social issues on people bluntly in movies they will tune out. Just like I did. When masters of horror was airing i watched an episode where dead American soldiers were coming back to life as zombies to exercise their right to vote, i never finished that episode and never watched another one after that.

Also the main theme of the movie is the need of fathers in a boys life. John goes from a little shit to someone who could be the leader of a resistance thanks to the father figure Arnie provides. Sarah even monlogues about it.
