This looks like a very old prototype build based on Spiderman mechanics. Do people remember when Horizon Zero Dawn was in development, the first protype was based on Killzone mechanics to test enviroments, weapons handeling etc etc.

They always use (when posible) previous games mechanics to test a lot of things, because new mechanics for the specific games are never done so early.

Yep, it's a huge time saver rather than starting from scratch every time, it means you can get something playable up and running in a very short space of time. It will change massively through development but it means the various teams/departments can test things out very quickly

I wonder was this always a 5yr development cycle game? As the footage doesn't show a particularly ambitious game, hence the Spider-Man DLC comments. I like Insomniac though and they've been carrying Sony first-party for years now.

Probably not fake, just an older build. And more than likely they did just mod this into their Spider-Man game. It's just an easy way to start testing things out. As we can see from the newer build, Wolverine has much more weight to him and isn't moving around like Spider-Man anymore. And there are more improvements to happen in the next 2+ years.

People judging anything to do with graphics or gameplay are either idiots or fanboys of other systems. I have no doubt Insomniac will land the gameplay and traversal. A smart person would be more worried about the writing and characterization.

I will give this game the benefit of the doubt since it’s 2+ years away, and I remember how everyone trashed Metroid Prime until the shockingly good E3 Demo. Then upon release, lauded as one of the greatest games ever made (deservingly so).

But I will say, because I’m really unsure how much of the bones of the game they change in 2 years…

This looks like Spider-Man. The traversal, the combat, the wonky stealth, it doesn’t look like a Wolverine game. You can add some gruesome combat to try to mask that, but it’s not enough.

I surely hope they know that, and it will be the focus the next 2 years.

Yeah, if you cant deliver a fun way for traversal, its better to go with linear or semi open world like God of War. Making wolvering jumping from roof to roof is not really the kind of mechanics for a Wolverine game. We will see how it will looks once they show the final version.

One dumb thing is judging the graphics/ physics, / animations from leaked alpha builds, but you can already see the gameplay mechanics and game direction from the leaks, and its not looking great to me. At least not what i wished for a Wolverine game.
