Won a copy of Fable :)

a month or so ago my friend, who listens to commercial radio, told me about this big advertisement of a Fable competition. though i may as well enter, the question was something like "in 25 words or less explain why you would be good or evil"
i said something like "id be evil to have break from the stereotypical cliche role of saving the world and cause as much carnage as possible."
i got this yesterday in the email.
Hi,

You have won in Cyber Shacks Fable Competition. You have won a copy of
the game for Xbox. You have seven days to reply to this email with your
mailing address to claim your prize

Needless to say im pretty happy, this is the 2nd game i've won online(the other was a liverpool football game), i've entered only 3 comps
The only thing is i don't have an xbox, but i have been looking at buying one just for this game. It was an aussie comp for anyone that cares.

I won a copy of Ultimate Muscle for GC off Fox Kids like a year ago. It's tough to say who got the better prize here.

My free copy of Fable netted me $20 towards Halo 2, so the game's not all bad.

The game is fine as a fun little adventure game. Nothing more, nothing less.

With the worst loading system I've ever seen. To get from point a to point b you spend as much time staring at loading screens as playing. :(

wow, don't everyone be so positive now, it can't seriously be that bad :S

Its not that the game is bad, its just mediocre.

yeah its probably not that bad, but not "to buy an xbox for" good either, there are PDO, Halo, Halo 2 and Ninja Gaiden for that.

I live in Aus so im not to sure about store credit or nething. it would of cost me $100 to buy i think, which is like $60-70 US ?? Ebay is proboly the only option if i sell. I was thinking of buying a xbox pack which was an extra controller, halo, topspin, plus some coupons or sumthin for $300. Not too sure but.

By the time you get from Bowerstone to Barrowfields, you've already gone from East Los Santos to San Fierro in GTA: SA (and done about 20 missions in between. :D )

I bought a Crystal Xbox because it was bundled with Fable.
tear.
Can anyone explain why something like 7 game days have passed, but I aged about 30 years?

I think it's a comment on what it felt like developing the game.

The development team planned for using magic often to make you age more rapidly, kind of it depleting your life energy type of thing. They seem to have left that in there, though somewhat flawed. I haven't gone back to check to see if not casting any magic keeps one from aging however.

I personally thought Fable was a great game. A few superficial flaws here and there and its rather easy, but its very fun and entirely addicting for the 15 or so hours it'll last you. I'm assuming most of the hate comes because its more your basic action/RPG style of game than the next step in interactive worlds that it was originally billed as.

I love Molyneux's games, but his overhyping of them is really getting them some negative backlash, even though they're really good.

Actually, I loved most of the game - it did a great deal of things well. But I expect 2 things in an action RPG: Some sense of exploration and a steady flow of stuff to do and kill. Fable not only was exclusively limited to narrow roads, with NO dungeons to explore, but pointed you exactly where you needed to go at all times. And getting there was a huge pain because you could only play for a minute or two before you hit a huge loading screen. It destroyed the pacing and sense of wonder in the world.
