What If They Threw A Social And Nobody Came?
Hey, check out the Zune’s great social features! Wireless song sharing, picture sharing, podcast sharing…now all I need is another Zune owner to share with. Hello? Anybody out there? Hello?

The Zune's an awesome media player honestly if you're just looking for straight mp3 playing action and none of the extras like a browser or apps or anything like that.

This. And Zune Pass is awesome.

:lol Priceless.

Either they have a LOT for sale or it's sold like 10 so far. :lol This is a great value for anyone who is looking for a media player btw.

Only knock against it is that the Zune hardware is refurb'd versus new. Also not so sure how many folks intend to hook up their Zune to their TV to watch their video content.

Seems like a very specific individual that this would be appealing to.

Really wish I had the money to spring on that Zune. My iPod is too small and it is starting to have battery issues.
I wish you had money too, that Zune put a halt to all the excitement. :(

If Woot.com had a feature where you could force the woot-off to the next item, would you do it?

Like if they set a goal of $100. Every person has a button where they can pay $1 (but only $1), to add to the total...if $100 is reached, they move on to the next item.

Would you do it?!

WOULD YOU?!

Refurb never really bothered me, I've always had great luck with refurb'd electronics...

Aside from the rock band 2 wireless drums that died twice from static electricity...ugh

Probably.

No, I'm not spending $1 to see a product I'm probably not gonna end up buying either.

There would probably be enough people to vote the product out before the people who actually wanted it had a chance to buy. And then wouldn't woot lose out in the end?

Not if they properly balanced the goal amount with the user population.

If so many of their users are willing to pay money to make it move onto the next item, then you have folks more invested in items that come up next, and it shows that you are losing money now on the item that is up, as not enough people care about it for it to sell.

Might as well put something else up that people do want.

I don't think the system would work...at all (it would be abused somehow) but I'm curious if people would actually do it.

Just make it so that the voted off item remains available for purchase as long as the new item is up for sale? Would that work?

That could work.

Woot makes more money and they are still able to sell the previously undesired item on the side as the rest of the Woot-Off continues.

Biggest issue would be that they would need a larger inventory of items to sell, as the IPH (items per hour) would surely increase.

...I like it, where do we submit requests?! :lol

If I hadn't bought an 8 gig last week I would probably be all over this. Really good mp3 players, and Zune pass can't be beat. Can't wait for Zune HD.

I dunno, their servers go down on crappy items some times. Would it be wise to have two items processing at the same time? lol

We've been staring at a sale now for over an hour, and the profits they could be making on other items is being WASTED.

An improvement like this should be able to pay for server upgrades while still netting them profits while adding value to the consumers.

...or something!

That is the sleaziest picture of a dude ever in that frame :lol

What’s the difference between a Centon 1GB Memory Module and sex? Wow, you don’t get a lot of dates, do you?

A guy goes into a bar with a Centon 1GB Memory Module. Bartender says “We don’t serve your kind here.” Guy says, “What? That’s awful! I’m not gonna leave my brand new memory module outside!” and the bartender replies “I was talking to the Centon 1GB Memory Module!”

Aka going to sell like hotcakes! RIGHT!

RIGHT?!?!

Edit: Sold the fuck out! :lol

This seems ridiculous. I tried to read the Woot FAQ that explains what the site's about in an effort to grasp some of the charm or awesomeness everyone else seems to be aware of here, and came up blank. I think I'll go buy from a store that has what I want whenever I want it.

It's for the impulse buyers and those who like buying useless stuff and kitsch.

Man, I stayed up until 6 AM, woke up at 10:00 AM, then went back to bed. If I didn't go back to bed I would have had that netbook!
