I need to figure out my next starter word... I kind of like being a bit off-meta... I'd say it kept me from hitting an X/6 but alas I'm only on a 10 streak thanks to SALLY
(last attempt was PALLY, no ragrets)

Would have been a 665 streak... so just as well as it would have been sad to not hit the Number of the Beast by one...

So some candidate new starters:

CLUMP -- fairly off meta, but maybe too similar to CLIMB
CLAMP -- same
CHUMP -- same
BLIMP -- same, but if I get it in one I get to post a LIZZO gif....
STAMP
STUMP -- Kind of like this one as it'd be ironic to hit it in one, but an S and a T? Maybe too meta
TRUNK -- T and R, too meta
TEACH -- way too meta
WHEAT -- an E? A fucking E? what am I actually trying to get 2s and 3s? This has been my go-to #2 when CLIMB yielded zero letters.
STEAK -- Tracy strikes me as a Vegan cosplayer so could be years before this hits gold

Tricky to know if you're trying to go anti-meta but I like steak.

The S and the T are maybe too useful, but I like K as a rogue element and one that's not likely to hit frequently.

I too am waiting for my starter word 'STARE' to produce a 1. I do, however, already have a 1; back in the days when I was starting with a different word each day I somehow got 'CHANT' on guess 1 (Wordle #253). One of the least likely things to happen.
