I've got Otcordle figured out. I use three words with 15 unique letters on the first three guesses and usually get the answers on 4 to 11.

I've been thinking along the same lines, except I went for four words. Which is kind of tricky to think up without any repeat letters but I got there. I did have to use a pretty fake word. My set leaves BJQVXZ on the board. But the full carpet bomb strat is pretty solid. I just tested it on a random Octordle game (after failing a 'normal' attempt on the daily) and of the 8 words... all 8 of them had all 5 letters revealed in some level of jumble. And one was essentially solved for me. 4 letters locked with the 5th revealed.

Ideal strat probably would be to play your carpet bomb words but if you have a sure solve on anything, play it in case it gives you more info somewhere. It probably feels bad if the solve takes some letters from your next word but the worst case scenario is that you play the same word with a double or two, which given that you got a solve in doesn't actually lose you anything. It just feels inefficient if you don't happen to get another solve or figure out another word to burn an extra letter or two.

Continuing octodle saga from above, played another random game:

^Once again the carpet bomb revealed every letter, except that some showed as four and there was a double. Once I took the easy solves it was pretty apparent what the two doubles were, even if DOWDY was one of those "that's a word right?" situations and ALLAY isn't super common.

As for the actual Octordle:

Third one in a row solved without a miss (after the initial 4-set obviously). There were 6 that were just words scrambles. One that had a duplicate letter, and then on that was actually missing a letter. I'm sure my set isn't optimal, but the letters it leaves out do appear to be pretty much trash.

Given the hard mode and the pretty suboptimal strat I'm using... this actually look longer, and far more thought than any of those 3 Octordles. So in a way Wordle really still is the king. I guess one could try to play Octordle as 'hard mode' in that you're trying at least one valid solution every time, and it may be fun to play that way but I think you're going to have to eat a lot of losses if you play that way.
