Mostly luck but I'll post a short breakdown of my thinking below:

My starter word ends in ER so I'm left with ending it in IR, UR or OR for my 2nd guess. I figured OR had more possibilities so I decided to go with that and the first word that came to mind ending in OR using none of the excluded letters from the first guess was HONOR.
