World of Warcraft |OT 10| Shadowbr... Shadowlands

Prot pally is great fun with a lot of self-sustain/utility but they do get trucked more than other tanks. Go Kyrian and have fun throwing 5 captain america shields out at once though with your Divine Toll covenant ability, that alone will make it worth rolling. Holy pal is what I'll be playing this tier since I need a change up from Disc/Holy priest, but they are looking to be no where near as strong as they were in BfA (at least in terms of throughput).

Thanks. Got another question. My friends are new, never played WoW, i mean 2 of them, so me and another as experienced players will be playing with them but I heard experienced players while they can choose to go through the new starting zone, after it they'll be ported to the capital to go through Chromie but new players will go through BFA automatically. So how does that work when we're all in a party? Or there is there an option to go with them through bfa toghether? Couldn't find a proper answer.

New players, after finishing the new tutorial zone (if they decide to do it, they aren't required, I recommend it though, it's really good), they'll be ported to the main city for their faction and set for BfA/Classic content by default (their choice). They can change this by going to Chromie and requesting a change, new players will be handed a quest to find her anyway. All of you can select the expansion content you want to do.

Ah I see so we can basically quest through bfa toghether. Was reading that it was instanced and going through Chromie is different than doing the normal expansion because Chromie basically sets you back "in time" and I heard theres a difference if you do classic content through her or as you normally would even if its in the same area but maybe I missread. In any case if we can all play through BFA, new players and old, together in the same party thats all it matters. Thanks.

It's a little...shaky as to what will or will not work. You should be able to make a party, select your expansion content and play without issue.

Thinking about trying out WoW for the first time since they revamped the leveling experience. One questions though. How is normal raiding in WoW? Is it simple enough to LFG a group in game and get it done?

Played for a few hours. The first main area is pretty busy. Lots of stuff all over. Generally the story so far is neat. I’m already two levels in and feel like I’m still in the intro tho.

Got to level 52 on my main alt, couldn't get my main to SW when the expansion launched haha. I am really digging the story and the Bastion zone. Have buddies who stayed up and got all the way to 60 already. Leveling from 50-60 seems slower than 10-50, but I don't mind, this is some great questing and a cool story. The Maw introduction was metal as hell. Like that is what Diablo should be.

They have a LFR tool that allows anyone not in a raiding guild to run the raid in an easy-mode experience. The item level of the gear in this is no where near what it is in actual raiding. TBH your best bet is to join a casual guild that isn't pushing mythic raids. You will have more fun and get better gear.

However if you haven't played in a while they have a thing now called Mythic dungeons with keys. These drop raid quality gear as you progress into higher difficulties. You can LFG these but unless you are a tank or start your own group with a tank buddy you might have trouble finding groups and stuff.

any more impressions...? is it better than BfA?
Oh waaaaaaaaay better. Shadowlands is so much fun. Very well designed and beautiful dungeons, Torghast is great it got Diablo vibes, and the Maw is a great addition too and can get intense. Too many things to do which makes the whole expansion very fun.

For those that have Shadowlands and played a good amount of time, what are your thoughts on this expansion?

Blizzard have been missing the mark since WotLK I believe. I’ve been away from wow for roughly 10 years since the kids came along but hoping to come back 😁👍

Despite what I posted above, the story is fun, the game is generally fun, it's so far a decent expansion. It just throws a large pile of "do all the things now" at you all at once. It's good for just logging in whenever, as there will never be a lack of things to do, but it's bad for the other 70% of the playerbase that's interested in anything more than casual play, as you're looking at a not insignificant time investment daily for at least the next handful of months until a giant fuckoff ilevel is easy to attain.

That's why this will be the first expansion I won't come back for. I just cannot face being forced to do dailies every day to stay competitive. I just wanna log in and do whatever I want, dungeons, raids, pvp, hang around in the new hub area, whatever. But blizz has dailies hanging over my head that I must grind over and over again or fall behind. I just can't do it anymore.

But you got a whole week to do all of this, no need to do them all in one day. What matters honestly at the end is finishing your Torghast layers which is once a week, daily maw, daily callings and the weekly pvp. At least its fun this time around and doesn’t feel like a pain in the butt. WQs aren’t essential unless suddenly a high ilvl gear is dropping which is mostly going to be one or two out of all the WQs

Great expansion with lots of content that you aren’t forced to do. You play the way you want and thats it. Beautiful locations, good story quests apart from the too much escorting shit

Blizzard missed the mark since WoD not WotLK and now if they don’t fuck this up, SL is going to be great.

Havent touched bfa and wont buy this one either. To me it just looks like more of the same but gothic. You are right WoD is when it went downhill. Garrisons started the era of systems, more systems!

Loved playing Classic again, still do. But thats dying down now. And tbc classic I'm less excited for for some reason. Hopefully with TBC comes a few fresh vanilla servers too, I think I'm down for that.

I don't "got a whole week" to do dailies, that's what they are called dailies.
And WQs are where 90% of your anima comes from.

Edit: Let me clarify that I'm not talking about the daily "go help other factions" quests that you do have two or three days to complete from the time they go up.

Yeah just no. You have to do so little each week. WQ are not mandatory, just do the ones for anima. Torghast for now is just 2 level 3 layers which takes no longer than an hour for both, then you are finished for the week. Then there are 2 dailys in the Maw, which you can do for Torghast progession (buffs) and killing named enemies, which also does not take long to do. Are you actually whining about doing dungeons to get gear? Maybe WoW is not for you, as you clearly don't know what is really there to do at lvl 60 and just whine.

You have to understand that we're coming off two expansions where the mentality was "do everything all the time forever or fuck you" with varying degrees of "everything". The definition of "all the time forever" is much looser this go around, but still there. I just don't think I'm in the mind set at the moment to start the new grind yet. I'll come back in a week or two.

I was going to give you an honest reply until I got to the word "whining".
This is what every WoW fanboy does, and I do mean every, when someone speaks even the slightest ill about big daddy Blizzards roller coaster kid. Toss around the word whine/whining and/or cry/crying to try and get a rise. And it's not something to be encouraged.

I miss the simple times where playing Wow meant improving your character (gear, rep, enchants) and having fun.

I MEAN.
You can still do that. The story is pretty fun, although a bit of a slow burn.
Gearing is all about what you make of it. Find stuff, make some stuff, do some quests, run some dungeons, wait for whatever your preferred raiding tier is to open. All the normal WoW pieces are there and just as good.

I played some BfA leveling my affliction lock (feels fucking good) and was doing Chromie time in Draenor. Was a fucking blast, Draenor has some of my favorite zones, too bad I reached 50 and it kicked me out. This game would be realy fucking good if places like Draenor, Argus, Broken Isles would scale at max level (via chromie time for example) and you could go make money, world quests, farm some universal currency etc anywhere.

You clearly "whined" when you listed all those "annoying" tasks you HAVE to do, which were simply false. That's why I said whining. If they had some merit, that would be fine.

Funny, that.
It's almost like people can have opinions, even ones you disagree with, without devolving into petty insults and fanrage.

This is like getting a second job where you actually pay to work. No wonder WoW has lost so many subscribers over the years.

Holy shit the escorting quests done my head in 🙈

I’ve enjoyed it so far. I think I preferred the levelling in BFA - SL is too linear but at least there’s ‘adventure mode’ for alts.

Hitting 60 was a bit overwhelming at first, it felt like there was too much to do to avoid falling behind but it’s not that bad once you get a handle on it.

Whilst borrowed power is still shit, the end game system is way better than BFA and I’m hoping/expecting the end game is where SL will shine.

I’ve done the unthinkable and dropped my warlock for the first time since 2006. I got him and a DH to 60 and whilst the lock has improved over BFA, it’s still not hitting the fun factor for me. DH tank ftw.

1. After hitting 60 and doing the campaign quests the "pile of quests" is completely optional.

2. There is significantly less world quests than in BfA (~50-60% less world quests compared to BfA). There are also hardly any meaningful rewards. The WQ are mostly completely optional.

3. There are exactly three daily quests. Two in the Maw and then the daily emissaries (for which you have 3 days to finish them). All are optional and not really necessary to progress important things like your covenant or legendaries.

4. Torghast is max. 1-3h per week. Each additional run after reaching the weekly cap for soul ash gives you absolutely nothing. No items, no reputation, no currency. Nothing. This will change when the endless mode comes, but there will only be cosmetic rewards for this...so again, completely optional.

5. For dungeons, you're right. But you can always use the LFG tool to skip normal or even heroic dungeons.

In the end it is very similar to BfA. You can do all important daily and weekly activities with a total of ~3-4h effort per week. If that doesn't work out, there are catch up mechanisms for everything.

I had a lot of time over the weekend and I only started Shadowlands on Saturday. I am 60 now, my ilvl is 176 (higher is hardly possible so far) and there is nothing more to do. I am now waiting for the weekly reset and that's it. The addon is a bad joke in my eyes. Instead of azerite bonuses there are now covenant skills. This is exactly the same in principle. There are less than half of new zones compared to BfA, less dungeons and generally less to do. The whole thing feels more like a big update for BfA than a new addon.

Doing dungeons on mythic and they are such a breath of fresh air after the trash that were the BFA dungeons.

Since I let my classic sub run out (I don't raid so the Nax patch brings nothing but one shot misery for me) I tried some retail wow. You can play for free to 20 apparently.

But I just fucking hate retail and sadly it's beyond redemption for me. All the choices they have made, the direction they took ever since Ion Hazza has been in charge. It's not even in the same universe as vanilla, tbc and wrath. It's all about weird ass systems now, world/mob scaling, convenience, weird ass sounds and animations, pets, toys, ugly transmogs, mini games, followers and so on. And possibly the worst of all, the death of realm communities. In a year of Classic I met so many people, funny characters, enemies, nice people. But in retail that's literally impossible. It makes me so sad as someone that loves the old style Wow.

I tried a Warsong Gulch on my level 17 rogue, first of all they redid WSG and it lost the original charm completely. But while I have a lot of fun in Classic WSG, here I just get bored and quit the game after 5 minutes. And of course no one spoke one word in the bg, because why would they, they will never see each other again..

im confused about crafting legendaries. I see base items in the AH at ilvl 235. If I buy one do I have to craft a legendary at rank 4 (max soul ash), or can I still craft a rank 1 legendary with it (and what ilvel would that be)?

Sorta.
If you buy/craft a rank one, you're legendary will be rank 1 once you add the soul ash. The idea is you either craft yourself the best rank you can, dump ash into it and then use the power to make it easier to level your crafting rank while also grinding out ash OR you just buy a rank four from someone who can make it and that's your legendary for however long this system is in place.

Having a blast. Got three characters to 60 now: MM hunter, Enhance Shaman, and Shadow Priest. Hyped for the raid and pushing more keys!

My guild has officially gone to shit with some of the core players deciding to play Horde, and I can’t be arsed to recruit. So it any Alliance players need a tank for Mythics or raiding, I have a DH tank at 181 ilvl ready to go.

I've never been interested in arenas really, but them pushing it through the great vault and how fast paced PvP is in this xpac, it's fucking awesome to do arenas

I think Ashen Hallow can be a bit OP in arenas right now though, but I'm really interested to see how people try to overcome it

Never been a PvP player in WoW but in SL I actually played more PvP than I ever did all those years

Ashen Hallow destroys! My toon Paladin is actually DPSing like a mothafucka!

The honor gear is surprisingly not bad for PvP either; I'm actually doing arenas because I don't have to grind rated to compete with other teams

Hell brother, have you seen shadow priest DPS? That shit is INSANE; 6-7k in M+s at like 184 ilvl
Ran with a guildy last night and that was CRAZZZYYYY to see
