So, I have a vague Easter project lined up. I've been letting the guild lie fallow for too long now, starting with the fact that Guildomatic has fundamentally become shit at this point meaning that the site hasn't been updated in quite some time. We're down to just a few regular officers, and so the workload's gone down to just what we can handle; we're basically treading water. In actual raiding and progression terms, though, we're okay. 10-man raids regularly, progessing slowly but surely; some great players, some average ones, devoted and loyal. It's a casual attitude but pushing a little harder than other casual guilds. Downed Shek'zeer just before 5.2, quickly mopped up Terrace with the buff after 5.2, and now starting to push properly into ToT, having only really downed the first boss and not attempted Horridon onwards properly since then.
The problem is, it's pretty much unanimous: We all really want to be a 25-man guild again. We had some runs of that size early on in the expansion where we had more players, and we enjoy 25-man raiding more; but we're on a sleepy server, recruitment is tough, and the playerbase is limited - put it this way, last night the best guild on the server... got a realm first Sha of Fear heroic kill. That's where this server stands. Playing here is the *real* hardmode!
So, yeah, that's where we stand. Our biggest boon is where we stand socially; we're a very close-knit group. Drama's fairly low, and people generally have a lot of faith in each other. I don't think we're guilty of being cliquey, although we have had one or two incidents where our long-established players have closed ranks in defense of a good friend being criticised by a new recruit. People who've left us do still seem to recall their time with us with fondness, so we're doing *something* right, at least.
So, where does this leave us? I'm pondering a big guild relaunch. We certainly need a new guild site, first of all - I'm perhaps leaning to Enjin, but there's a few options. Any ability to archive the content we have on guildomatic would be a huge boon. We need to fill the officer ranks out a bit more once again, and have better-defined officer roles. Advertising's the tricky bit, given that I feel I'd need to be completely honest about the project and the prospects (might require a lot of patience while we get numbers together, and we simply might not make it to having enough for 25. The people who sign up for it deserve to know exactly what they're letting themselves in for!). What *might* give us a small edge is the fact that there's not all that many guilds pushing for 25 at the moment; I think there's two on alliance side?
The other thing I'm pondering is a server transfer for the guild, but I'm not sure that's not simply running away from a unique challenge. I think the players that fit our guild are here, somewhere. We've just got to find them.
(And just for good measure, I'm going on holiday for several weeks at the start of May, so anything I do needs to at least be able to run without me at that point!)
