IIRC, patch 5.2 (ToT/IoT content patch) was on PTR since January 2013 and the patch released on march (two months later).

This is just speculation on my part, but I think 6.1's PTR may release on late January, then the patch itself goes live on February (maybe March, but that's far-fetched)
 
I would guess the it launches the same week BRF is opened. Beginning of February-ish.

This isn't anywhere near as big as the IoT content patch, though.
 
I feel like a one-year expansion would be bad for both WoD and the next expansion, but maybe they have a plan for how it's totally going to work this time.

Ignoring the things I've said about it in the past as to why I don't like the idea, recently I realized the thing I dislike about it most is it ruins opportunities to expand the continent and open up new areas. Blizz has said a few times now they aren't even sure if Farahlon (Netherstorm) will make it into the expansion. Like what the fuck man, how do you release an expansion showing us how Outland used to look and not even add one of the main zones from Outland. I am still a little salty Karabor had to die at the hands of Garrisons, I'll be extra salty if we don't get Farahlon. I don't even care if its a random zone with no quests or sandbox elements, it is known zone of Draenor and if they don't add it this expansion the chances of it ever getting added will be next to none.
 
Tanaan Citadel, or whatever we get, will end up being another > 12 month raid. Blizzard make awesome stuff, but I seriously doubt their ability to manage time.

I got an email (and they "resolved" the ticket) this morning saying the issue will need to be looked at further by a "specialist" (the email was from a GM). The "specialist" will then either decide to reverse or uphold the ban. If they reverse it then the GM will be able to unlock my account.

After reading up on it further the two issues that may have caused this is a) emailing tons of items (crafting mats) back and forth between alts and b) "excessive" logouts and logins on my account (between said alts to read/send mail).. apparently WoW's warden software is not smart enough to distinguish "gold farmer/botting" behavior that it might think is there but isn't getting rid of stuff from the account (i.e. just between account characters)

either way I am now waiting for some nebulous "specialist" (who knows what their schedule is?) to determine if my ban will be overturned or not. From the sound of it it will be (obviously I did not buy gold, and in fact I didn't buy anything from anyone directly. except for participate in the auction house as per usual), it's just fucking annoying to be looking forward to relaxing after a long week at work, only to now be stressed out that 10 years of history in this game (not to mention probably $1000+ in actual money) can be flushed down the toilet "because, that's why"

Pretty much, like I said I don't think any of us are actually expecting it to be different this time around, but blizz has certainly been talking a bigger game this go around (such as touting there would only be 2 raid tiers). In a lot of weird ways too, dunno if the horde garrison has it but in the alliance garrison one of the gravestones at the grave yard reads "Ray D. Tear"

They lampshade that Farahlon isn't in the expansion in a rare mission which gives you one of those Archmage Vargoth staff toys if you beat it, and I don't think they would do that if the area was also going to be a daily hub in 6.4 or whatever.

Yeah I've had that mission on a few characters, but, they have openly talked about potentially adding it, like after the expansion even launched. There is a wowhead interview from a while back where they said they were considering it if they had enough time.

I really want to play my DK and try out tanking, but leveling him for 67 to 100 is... X_X

Is your garrison account-wide or character specific?
 
I like Far Sighting into unfinished areas, so I checked out the parts of Tanaan that you don't see in the intro area of WoD. They're really unfinished, obviously. There's a big mountain with an area on top where the sky turns orange and there's a demon-looking altar up there. There's also a dummy orc model still left up there for measurement, so the geometry is obviously not done.

The big gate next to the big cannon you use to blow up the portal hides a path to what I'm assuming is supposed to be a big orc fortress, although it's not done at all and is more like a wall and three untextured towers. There are several open areas around there, but trying to Far Sight into them consistently breaks the channel, so I'm guessing they're actively blocking Far Sight from being used in those areas.

Looks like half a questing zone, which is weird if they're patching it in. I guess a lot of the open areas are where the final raid will be.

There was a random NPC in the jungle behind the big gate, a "Keravnos Wanderer". It was level 98. Not sure that this means. It was not interactible, although it was hostile, and it looked like it was bound by electricity.

The rest is on you how to farm your weekly CQ. You can do the above event method, but there's really no pvp in Ashran unless you're in the push group - which basically gives no CQ. The events are easy CQ but there's a lot of down time. The best way to get CQ is arena or rated bgs. Rated bg wins give you like 450 and even losses give you like 130. And you get to pvp. Arena is good ol' arena.

well, got my account back. the exact wording on the ticket resolution was

We had to make sure that the proper team was able to review the situation, so they can make sure to prevent any further false positives. Their goal is to protect the game environment and be as un intrusive to normal players like yourself as possible.

As a clarification: you needn’t worry about any specific actions you've recently taken as cause for the problem.

I've added 2 days of game time to account for the time, but I apologize for the interruption it may have caused otherwise. =(

I mean I REALLY didn't do anything suspicious.. and have no idea what set this off.. but since getting my account back I did a /played on my 5 various mains over the years... almost 2800 hours between the 5 of them. not to mention the game, all of the expansions, 3 of which were CEs, and the purchased pets, and the purchased mounts, and the feats of strength.. had I lost that stuff I probably would have melted down....

oh well... all over now. ugh. /cry

Glad you got it resolved. I was going to comment on your last reply to me that I think I got my account resolved within the same day.
I basically had no interaction with any of the community people like you did. Just submitted an appeal saying why it was a bad ban then I got an email later saying my account was restored.

At least they give you a little game time for comp. Is your battle.net friends list still in tact? Haha

That wall thing with the untextured towers is literally just part of Hellfire Citadel lol. Not sure if its the whole thing since I haven't seen much of it, but, it's at least part of it ripped out and placed there. Kind of weird how they just left stuff sitting around that zone like that considering how easy it is to look inside there.
 
Finished up Glory of the Pandaria Dungeons or whatever it's called.

It'd be really swell if they'd fix that one meta for Cata Dungeons so I could get that mount. I submitted a bug report.

And the guildmate I did Shaohao with went with me through those Pandaria dungeons and then we grabbed two more people and cleared MSV and ToT up through Ji-kun but no mount drops. They really wanted to clear ToT but Durumu wiped us repeatedly as soon as the beams came out. Glad they finally gave up after four attempts since I really didn't want to keep playing.

Yeah I think they just want to space them out over a few years.

A few expansions from now I'm curious how they will do the MoP raids. ToT and SoO already had a bunch of pets. Wonder if they will just toss an achievement for getting them... Or make even more pets.

Breaking Bones and something something in Blackrock Caverns is impossibe since the pre-expansion patch. For some reason with that patch the Skullsplitter ability the boss does no longer kills the adds it summons which is a requirement of the achievement.

That's lame :/ WoW's a huge game, it having bugs that are hard to spot like that aren't uncommon.(Like the heroic 25-man firelands bosses drop 180ish gold, when soloed, each for some reason.)

I'd love to see some behind the scenes stuff to see what the process would be to change things. I can't imagine the bug I mentioned or gold amounts are all that tough to change but I'm sure it's put below a bunch of other things even if it would only take someone 5-10 minutes of work changing some database value or changing some flag.

But I ran 25m heroic Firelands this week and got around 120-130g per boss, from what I recall, Are you sure it's 180g? And 120-130g per boss is in line with other Cata raids I believe. I know Dragon Soul on 10m Heroic drops around 80-90g per boss.

I do recall some years ago there was old content that was dropping a ton of gold per boss and they fixed that pretty quickly. I want to say it was something like Karazhan or some other BC stuff during Cata or maybe even MoP that people were getting something like 100g per boss and it was content that took zero skill to clear. Might have been BT?

I have thought about running Blackwing Descent and Twilight Bastion just for the gold. I already finished up all the achievements in both but they don't take all that long and I'm somewhat poor again. Spent all my gold down to 1k on Tuesday but I'm back to around 12k. Could definitely use more.

I have started doing this because I am unsure how the fuck to make tons of gold right now without JC. I do Baradin Hold as well, there is no heroic version but on 25 man each boss drops 25g + 4 or 5 items. If you get pants to drop (because the bosses mostly drop pants and gloves) each pair of pants vendors for 23 gold, so you can make over 100g per boss and it takes less than 5 minutes to do all 3 bosses. I will also say as a warning, Bastion of Twilight is actually still kind of hard on 25 man heroic, you can't self heal on the first boss so you need to actually do some of his mechanics and DPS really fast, and on the second bosses you need some good damage reduction cooldowns because blackout hits for around 250k on 25 man heroic. After those 2 though it's pretty smooth sailing.

I'll have to check those out. I know I did Heroic Blackwing Descent a few weeks back for the meta achievement and I think I did it at 25m. I'm assuming that's the case because things took awhile to die. I even died two or three times on the boss that breaks all the adds out of the tubes on the walls until I read up on what was happening and found a way to burst it down. The cheapest mount I can buy right now is 50k (and 5k apexis) so I figure I should get saving up some more. There's 100k for the Alliance bike and 120k for Grand Expedition Yak as well. After that it's just grabbing TCG mounts on the AH. So I really should aim to get more gold.

Is there really a big difference on gold drops in cata raids between Normal and Heroic versions? Not sure if I'll remember to keep track of it when I do run those.
 
Got rejected to a heroic seige of orgrimmar transmog run. My ilevel is 647 and I know the fights, but he only wanted 650+. 650 for old content...
 
Ashran queues really take the piss. I need it for quest. Don't even want to do it

Wow man. Sometimes the RNG in this game can be insufferable. I got my first highmaul cache mission last night on my DK after weeks of playing this xpack. The only heroic gear I have is a cloak and a ring.

Guess what the cache gives me? The same damn cloak. Christ that's annoying.

Doesn't help that I'm stuck at 649 and it's been impossible for me to join up in raids the past few days, everyone wants to take 650+ into heroic despite the fact that I do 23k dps.

Decided to check the mob before leaving, found a surprise ;p

edit: it even rolled a bonus stat! 95 leech which is normally not on the item (eyeripper-gridle)
anyone knows how much this adds to the value of the item?
 
In my servers (group of servers really, connected realms) the Alliance pretty much run Veil in Spires of Arak. Killing Horde as they try to quests during leveling, etc.

So last night my guildies and I had enough. We grouped up, jumped on our motorcycles, and patrolled Arak.

It was so much fun. We banked a few levelers but then found the trouble makers. They made short change of us since they had a priest and a rediculously decked out rogue. After some general chat, we switched to a raid group and got like 10 more.

Epic battles ensued. It was awesome. That's why I love PvP servers.

Yeah ilvl system is terrible, I've had people way higher ilvl do less dps than me, wish there were some sort of other metric. Even if you are 650 usually there's a few mythic geared people looking for groups as well.

Sounds like a bug with mob scaling.

Granted, that one was a pain to do anyways since you needed multiple people for it (you can't solo it since the boss won't summon enough mobs).

Probably even more of a pain now with damage scaling since you'd prolly have to unequip stuff to not kill him.

lol.. I started a new Hunter with full heirlooms and I am hitting this left and right in durator. "do this and this for the mob to react this way" so I don't attack the mob but as soon as I aggro it (pre-pet control) my early level pet kills it. So finally I unequipped everything and found on most stuff I can usually hit the proc 50% of the time or so before my pet kills it.

thankfully now I am over level 10 so I can put my pet on passive for that stuff.

leveling hunter in full heirlooms is crazy. I literally one shot everything. I'm at the point where I just kill everything on the way to the quest because it's all one shot so free experience while I run there.

Haha I remember that quest. That's the totem one right? I had the same problem when my heirloom hunter too. Just abandoned it in the end couldn't be bothered
 
Yeah I always skip that totem quest. It's not worth the time.

I'm other news, I think I've gotten to the point of boredom with the game right now. Not really logging on outside raid time, and even then it's kind of boring since I find myself sitting for mythic fights with our oversize roster.

I don't have the motivation to do 4+ hours of mount farming, I'm not particularly interested in leveling alts at the moment, I've made it past gold cap, so logging to grind professions/garrisons isn't very rewarding.

There's really not much I feel I want to do.

If I wasn't committed to a raid team, I'd probably unsub for a month or two at least.

God damn that was a hard camp though, very glad it's over. I decided to hearth back to my garrison to line up some missions for my followers and the second I got on a flight back to the North of Gorgrond, he spawned at the South flight path and raid chat went crazy.

Thankfully I know how bad my luck is with this particular mount and I planned ahead and planted an alt on every spawn point. I logged my alt there, got the tag and even managed to start a second raid group and invite a few people from other realms to get the tag :)
 
I'm having a rough time grasping the Death Knight class, is there a guide anywhere for absolute nubs. Even from back around the Lich King days? I mained a Druid tank till MoP and I quit for awhile. I came back and boosted a DK and I can't seem to get a feel for even a basic rotation.

Can anyone help me atleast with a good starting rotation for a frost DK at level 60, like I just started playing one?

Thanks, ive been using ice's guides but I almost need something a little more dumbed down. I know that sounds bad but even during Wrath I couldnt really get a grasp on what I was doing with my DK starting out. I understand the systems, but tbh there are alot of things to worry about. Most guides expect you already have all 3 specs and I only have frost. Ill keep trying, im still only about 2 hours into the boost area. At first I was dieing constantly but started to get a feel for the character and am able to hold my own know, just dont really know what does what and when to use it. Im not even sure what the DKs main attack is.

Yeah, but that's my point, the early patch notes for that just said 'Brawlers guild has been added". Like, I don't expect this garrison boss thing to be something huge necessarily, I'm not willing to eat crow on it, but it's silly to think we know anything about it when some of these systems additions are literally A LINE with no description of what they are.
