World of Warcraft |OT7| Feel the hatred of 10,000 Murlocs

And holy shit, I didn't know Nostalrius had 150k players... That's pretty insane.

And yet a blip compared to the at least 2-3 million that still play in the US and EU currently. And it was free. And there's no indication at all how many of those 150k just dabbled and how many were actually playing regularly. Heck, just the last couple of pages here have several posts of "yeah I went and tried it and god it was awful."

Wanting vanilla WoW back is like wanting to give up streaming video porn in order to go back to looking at stolen Playboys.

That's just one private server that's been up for a relatively short period of time. To have 800k sign ups in a short period of time is impressive... Hell, did TESO have 150k active players at any point after the free month period?

Warlord's is nowhere near streaming video porn. It's more like porn on dial up... It has the potential to be good, but you ke.. Buffering 1%... ep losin... Buffering 3%... g your arousal beca... Buffering 6%.

Perhaps revisiting vanilla/TBC would be like going back to the days of finding a VHS tape in the woods along with a dirty magazine, but I'd take that over a scene that never loads.

WoW wasn't my first MMO either, but all I do now is log on twice a week to raid... I'd take pretty much anything over that.

(I never tried Nostralius - Not interested in anything that's not official).

Blame that on the usual drought between the last patch content of an expansion and a new expansion. Outside of that, there's usually enough stuff to keep you busy.

They should really do something about it. How? I dunno, but it fucking sucks to be stuck for a year with the same damn content and just soloing old raids again & again & again. They keep saying they're going to try to make the wait shorter, but it seems to be getting a little bit worse everytime.

I think what is up on live servers is enough for the nostalgia trip but vanilla before Cata is probably the one actual legitimate reason for a server like that since the whole world is basically unavailable as it was back then

Whenever I see the discussion around Vanilla servers I wonder how this colors the conversation. The light amount of content that WoD has kind of tends to highlight some of the negative aspects of the game right now, even for all the positive changes WoD made. When people don't have new stuff to chew on maybe it's only natural that they keep idealizing older eras of the game.

Yeah Bisnic's post really got me thinking... I wonder how many players Nostralius would have if we were on patch 6.4/raid tier 3 of the expansion? I doubt it'd have 150k active.

Seems really easy to just quit and come back. I mean despite being someone who has been playing since near the start I still took time off during the big content drought of each xpac. I quit TBC a few months into black temple, wrath like a month into ICC (before it was fully unlocked iirc), cata a few months into dragon soul when my guild decided we were done with it, and MoP a few months into SoO. Only reason I haven't done the same for WoD is because I can play for free.

I like playing alts and all but not for $15 a month when my main has nothing new I want to do on him.

A silly question, but with the introduction of Artifact weapons and their upgrades, does that mean that there's less incentive to use weapons that drops from quests and dungeons in Legion?

What weapon drops? ;)

Like cdy hinted, there are no weapon drops. There are some shitty green BoEs, but nothing substantial.

You'll get relics that you socket into your artifact that increase its ilevel. These come from quests, dungeons and raids like weapons normally do.

Yeah same. In fact, Id go as far to say that I kind of appreciate the droughts since by the end of an expac Im starting to burn out on WoW in general. By the time the expac is out Im excited to play WoW again.

Is there a limit on how many times you can loot Moonfang and the Rabbit for the pets each day

Once per day for Moonfang, as many times as you can find it for the Rabbit.

No, I mean something even worse than WoD. At least with WoD anyone quitting knew that a couple years down the line there would be another expansion that might not suck. With a vanilla server nothing changes, ever.

Is it really that hard to fathom that someone might be ok with that? From what I've read on Nostalrius's logs, the 11K or so players have more of a tight nit community going than all bazillion of current WoWs supposed community. That's unique enough in this day that I'm sorry I didn't try playing there before now.

Boosted a hunter I had to 100 and been using him to farm old raids to get quick gold for heirlooms, it's insane how easy it is even up to Cata. Been levelling a Warrior fresh though, especially since I get on my hunter and have no clue what I'm doing hah.

It appears that Mark of the Legion helper has no config, not even a simple interface that says it's activated or how it works. Guess we'll still try with vanilla DBM for now, though we haven't gotten to the last phase often enough for any issues to become readily apparent.

It just says "run to [world maker X]. The RL pops down the markers on the first nether phase and after that you're set. We used yellow, orange at the front and purple, green at the back.

Blizzcon should be pretty interesting this year. Speculation about things aside, there's nothing "big" to show off. But if that was really the case, they wouldn't have a Blizzcon.

Or, it's just one big eSports wankathon, with Overwatch, Hearthstone, HotS and SCII tournament. (Zzzzz...)

Yeah, I'm afraid it'll be a lot of that eSports stuff.

I realize I'm in the minority and eSports are big business for Blizzard, but I couldn't be less interested in any of that.

Warcraft 4 and Diablo 4. :)

Also, Overwatch will have been out for a few months, so I'm sure they will have upcoming new content to reveal there as well.

I watch SC2 at Blizzcon every year, and it's pretty damn fantastic, honestly.

Not expecting anything in terms of games besides perhaps a Diablo 3 expansion/new game reveal... Oh, and stuff for HS & Heroes, but those games are ignore material for me. Can't imagine there being anything for WoW, since Legion would have only been out for a few months. SC2? Maybe more of that story DLC. Overwatch maybe get a few new hero reveals.

So yeah, D3 follow up is all I'd consider likely apart from the minor stuff, with the chance of a new game/remaster as an outside bet I'd like to see.

Selfie camera 3.0 and another rehash tier? Wahhey.

Don't know why I bought Legion. I have zero fucking faith in Blizzard making a good expansion.

I'll wait to buy it until the week of launch. The questing and achievements will be worth it for me, if anything.

Is there still no news on a new reputation achievement? We needed an 80 faction title last year, and will need a 90 one going into Legion.
Haven't looked through the latest notes, so I'm not entirely sure.

One of the reasons why I haven't gone after many Draenor factions is due to no new rep achievement tiers.

I had 77 or so when WoD dropped, so there not being any achievements put me off entirely from daily quest grinding... Then Medallions were added and I went from 77 to 84 in 10 minutes - That was nice.

Well when you are interested in it again, at least you've got some pretty relaxing ones to do (AQ40, MC, BfmH).

I think I could get 86... That's if Brawlgar Arena counts as a legitimate faction & if I can still get Bloodsail exalted.

Not sure how any of that is relevant to be honest. I've been playing with the same people since vanilla but that doesn't mean we stick around if the game has no content. It's one thing when it's free, but is a strong sense of community really going to get people to fork out over 500 dollars (which is what playing the game for around 3 years would cost) when there isn't any new content?

Because yes, I find that incredibly hard to believe. There would always be a handful of diehards but I really don't believe the vast majority of people would do that.

My only concern is having enough interesting quest/exploration achievements to do. That's all I did this expansion aside from leveling alts.

I'm hopeful that the Diablo III systems that are leaking into Legion will be meaty enough to keep me occupied for a while.

Folks are now implying that the Nostalrius folks should take Blizzard to court. Give me a break, any nitwit lawyer could win that case for Blizzard in two seconds.
