World of Warcraft |OT7| Feel the hatred of 10,000 Murlocs

Friend let me play his beta account, so I've been playing various characters first artifact quests. Can't say I'm too impressed with Survival Hunter or Demonology warlock, Arms warrior was boring until they pushed out the build last night, much better. Elemental is surprisingly fun, it's a tossup now between Ele/enh/fury & and arms for my first 100.

Warrior class hall is my favorite so far, but Shamans isn't half bad. Still going to check out shadowpriest and ret paladin, both look interesting.

Ele seems to be back to MoP levels of enjoyment for me. Getting rid of Unleash Elements was a nice step in the right direction. Although, I'm not really a big of their artifact clicky, but that's probably just me. Never liked having a cast time on a buff that you have to use during combat.

Talent changes went into effect i see. i was positive on the idea at first but after trying it for 2 minutes i conclude it fucking sucks.

Trying Outlaw rogue. i dont know. Its so RNG based with Roll the Bones. Easily the weakest ive felt out of all the classes/specs ive tried so far. Maybe i need to l2p but spec just isnt doing it for me. Going to try talenting out RtB for Slice and Dice. Guess i got to hearth to Dal.

edit: Oh shit Lord Adder tearing up Dalaran.

My guild is talking about me playing a Havoc DH for Legion.

Instead of my Unholy DK which I play now. So we can have 2 Gorefiend's Grasps.

I go where the Gorefiend's Grasp is.

Oh, they mixed up Arms a lil bit? I guess that's enough reason to go give the beta another try.

Also, has Blizzard said anything about the Abomination pet size in Legion? Because the beta size is ridiculous. I've always wanted a monstrous abomination pet instead of a ghoul, but I'd rather have the ghoul than this thing

Even the fully transformed version looks pretty small. Should at least make a new model of an 'undergrown' Abomination for its normal stance and then when it transforms, it should turn to one at least the size of the Undercity guards.

Took my guild 400+ attempts because of lots and lots of derping.

It's a great fight... If you're a healer/DPS player. As a tank, it's seemingly just another dull fight.

I know part of my problem is the guild didn't start raiding again until early 2016 so we've a lot more gear than folks did when they cleared it last year, but when the Glaive combo can be cheesed with the BoA trinket leaving each tank a 30 second window to taunt so the other doesn't get two massive blast debuffs & has the BoA trinket for every combo. It trivializes the Doom Guard debuff (which I've been dealing with) timing, and gear makes the entire Wrath mechanic irrelevant (I can tank all the healer stacks with ease).

I'm hoping once the guild is 13/13 that we can go back and do it with 720 gear... Don't fancy my chances of talking people into it, especially as they'll wanna farm mounts ASAP, but still. I'm glad I'm gonna be back in on the ground floor for raiding in Legion.

To think the only reason I'm raiding again is because I got called out on GAF for calling PvE easy, and now it's bettering my social skills & is something I'm actively looking forward to doing in Legion - I suppose I owe you guys a thanks, haha.

It's not a great fight when you want to murder half the fucking people in your guild for failing at simple fucking mechanics for months straight.

Yes I am still bitter.

I find this pretty shocking actually because I tried Outlaw for the first time yesterday and it felt OP as fuck considering the shitastic gear Rogues start in on the beta for Outlaw (over half the pieces have mastery as their only stat and almost none of the pieces have haste). There is some annoying RNG involved with RtB because you can occasionally just get Jolly Roger (the HP regen buff) which is shit for damage, but, you can generate combo points so fast as that spec I found it to not be a big deal because I could reroll almost immediately.

I wasn't really trying any dungeons or anything so I don't know how the damage compared to other classes but for questing I was just tearing shit up. Really enjoyed it too honestly because the buffs you get from RtB change how you play during that cycle of the buff. I was pretty surprised honestly cause I wasn't expecting much out of the spec.

All this talk about raiding... my main is in a "social" guild (nice people) and we struggle to get 5 people for a mythic dungeon, let alone a full raid group.

My ret paladin is ilvl 715 and I feel like the dude is just sitting on his arse not doing anything.

i had much better experience after changing out Roll the Bones with Slice and Dice. Like i said maybe i just need to l2p but rolling and rerolling continuously trying to get a good roll was super annoying. So far its been the only spec where ive died to regular mobs.

Weird I had no trouble with any questing mobs or anything. For rerolling I only tend to do it if all I get is Jolly Roger. The other buffs are strong enough that even if you only get 1 of them it's still pretty strong. No idea to be honest.

That said though on the topic of dying I am curious about tuning in general, everything in the artifact quests feels... strong I guess? It's not insanely hard or anything but combat times are pretty long during those quests and mobs do a lot of damage. It feels okay on the beta but those characters start in 680 gear, I'm more curious about the people who did quests in WoD and quit when they hit max level and are sitting at ilvl ~600 or so. Are the quests even doable in WoD quest gear? Seems really weird.

I died multiple times during the final part of the Prot Warrior artifact questline (and I know from research that I'm not the only one). My main obviously won't be having many issues, but toons in WoD quest gear, as you say... Damn, they'll have no chance.

i think the difficulty before you get your artifact weapon is by design thematically. Its starting ilevel is 740 or 750 so its like getting a late game weapon at the start of the expansion.

edit: also when i said i died as Outlaw it was after getting the Dreadfangs.

Don't know if it still is, but the ice mage artifact quest was a bitch when I tried it during alpha.

Frost mage seems to be broke right now so I haven't bothered with it. Frozen Orbs don't generate FoF which is rough as fuck since Frozen Orb has taken the place of FFB in Legion.

Did a little bit of reading up on Roll the Bones and am going to give it another shot. i think my error was the ingrained response of waiting until full Combo Points before using whatever finisher. RtB seems to have a sweet spot of 2-3 to get a good roll.

i really like the Paladin sounds and animations. Lots of weight and oomph. Ret is very exciting to play. Ashbringer weapon quest easily best so far that ive played. This may be because its been the most complete (voice overs for example).

edit: Also.. if you cant get into the Beta and wont be coming back until launch i highly recommend playing all three specs before selecting your artifact weapon. i dont know when you get the other specs weapons but it seems like a late/end game thing from the warning. im guessing huge shortage of healers the first couple months of Legion. Even if leveling as healer is fine in Legion i think its safe to say that the perception at large of healer leveling is that its slower than dps. Not being able to change between weapons until max level or after a chain of Garrison 2.0 missions or whatever is required is going to throw things out of whack at the start. Might even be able to get away with charging to heal if its really bad.

Also the Alliance intro is much better than Horde but, you know, Beta. To not hear Troll Swedish Chef go derping it right off the bat is a good start.

Ah okay then never mind then. i did google but all i saw was speculation based on the phrasing when you choose your first one.

On the quest wording? They made it faster to get your 2nd artifact just before/at Beta launch and I think the quest wording didn't change.

Though you'll still have the problem of leveling your weapon.

By the quest wording i mean when the confirmation box when it says you wont be able to change for a long time.

Psh 2 artifacts? I can't even get 1 on my new rogue. Trying to get the assassination one and the dude in Darkshire you have to kill doesn't spawn. Oh well. Played the spec a bit and it's exactly what I hoped for, just the same spec with some minor changes that makes life better (like your bleeds spreading on their own thanks to a talent and mutilate crits working on a per hand basis). Starter gear really hurts it though, only have 18% crit which is absolutely abysmal.

You're supposed to get your 2nd Artifact around 103, IIRC. Some classes are bugged and don't get it at that.

+ the other artifact stuff said above: I got a quest at 102 at my order hall to pick another artifact, and when I completed that there was one last quest to get the last one. So, at least in the current build, seems like you can get both your other artifacts at 102.

Demon Hunter follower spoilers.
Akama having a knockback is super annoying, really hope it gets changed. Not sure why they'd even think it was a good idea.

Still enjoying Havoc quite a bit, pretty simple rotation & Metamorphosis w/ the 100% Leech talent is pretty amazing.

So a name change somehow screwed up my mythic lockout with my guild.

Sometimes you can just tell the instance systems for WoW are held together by paper clips.

Yeah, I got the quest at 102. The resto shaman artifact scenario was super buggy for me, though... Pretty frustrating. Was never able to fully complete the quest/scenario.

Edit: Didn't see you could get a quest right after finishing the second artifact to get the third. Welp, guess I won't be getting the elemental artifact, then...

I'm trying the "Copy Account Data" button on the Beta, but it's taking forever - Is this normal?

Edit: Apparently so, it's not enabled yet. Sneaky button!

i love how the artifact quests involve old content. Makes the world feel cohesive.

Yeah, artifacts and the class hall campaigns are an amazing way for them to pick up some old stories and create new ones that use the entire world, I absolutely love it. It's great going back to all these old places and seeing what has happened in the time we've been gone.

The Frost one for DKs looks a lot cooler than the Unholy quest chain due to Nerzhul and Arthas.

But the Unholy Artifact looks cooler.

Is there an easy way to check all artifacts quests of a single class without creating another one with a different spec and having to go through that Broken Shore starting quest everytime?

I guess you could abandon the artifact quest after you return to your class hall and pick a new one.

The new Underbelly is crazy, just a bunch of rare spawns randomly spawning in and when you kill them they drop currency you can spend on tons of different weird things. Kept seeing people transformed into Harpies like flying around and other people on those terrifying rat mounts (which seems to be the only way you can mount down there now).

I bothered to do 4 mythic dungeons today on a reroll, had toruble finding goups and shit. I was really happy and relieved when I completed the last one and hurried to get my reward.

But I was greeted by an exclamation mark. I hadn't accepted the quest. D:

It hurts. So much wasted time once again.

I started up WoW for the first time in absolutely years. I haven't played since Burning Crusade came out, and my highest character is 58.

I got a bit overwhelmed by everything, so decided to start a new character. The talent tree system has obviously changed completely. I'm playing a Priest, and I just hit level 10. Am I correct in that if I specialise in Holy, I'll actually lose Shadow Word: Pain? I'm trying to wrap my head around how this works.

Also, does it cost anything to despecialise? if so, how much, and does the price increase each time?

EDIT: I see that I can check "Spellbook" to see what abilities each specialisation learns at which levels. But then I don't know what the point of the four spells it shows in the "Specialization" window for each one.

It costs some pitiful amount of gold when you respec at your trainer and IIRC it also increases a bit each time to a certain max. When you are high enough for dualspec, get that so you can switch freely between two specs.

As for the spells in the Spec window, those are the key spells for that spec. So shadow has shadow stuff, disc has bubbles and holy has... whatever heals it has (don't really play priest).

Dunno about losing SWP (don't play a Priest very much), but you can switch Specs for a gold cost, and at level 30(?) you get Dual spec, which lets you choose a second one and you switch back and forth anytime outside of combat.

The four spells in the spec window are your core spells that you'll use as that spec, but there are obviously other abilities you will be using as well.
