Awesome - will do. At my parents place for another few hrs..but abused their fios to update my new notebook to the correct patch :P


btw - blizzard contacted me back about my old account. they are forwarding the issue to a 'compromised account specialist' so hopefully they will figure out what is going on :D

Also because apparently they got more than their hands full with restoring hacked accounts. I seriously doubt then can get such an old account back, but who knows?
 
I dunno, they might be able to, a quick restore of a deletion is usually very swift and very simple. If someone took your name though, I'd wager they'd make you pick a new one.

Give it a shot.

So my main account got hacked like back in January.. well I checked my other account and that one was working.. checked it on Friday.

Im driving home from my parents to finally activate that one so I can start playing (see posts above) and then I get an email as I'm driving home saying that THIS ONE WAS HACKED!! :lol

Apparently some gold spammer got it and was spamming.. so now its banned for 3 hrs.. and they reset my password.

WHAT THE FUCK???? :lol :lol :lol

Phishing and keyloggers, nothing else really.
Now the question is will your AV pick up that keylogger and what's best way to protect against it hmm.

Authenticator ftw but still, what if it steals your cc info or something.

My first account got hacked(and banned permanently later) and I know one situation when like 10 accounts at this cyber cafe(games only), mine was probably picked up at such place. Stopped using it anywhere beside my PC later on(this was in 05).

Maybe I'll tell my poor ban story later on :(

After its secure, or from a secure system log into Battle.Net and change your account's e-mail to another new e-mail address that you use only for Battle.Net, and snag an auth token if you already don't have one.

Phishing scams are the big thing these days. I got a whisper just the other day about all the piles of loot and gold waiting for me if I just went to a site and entered my account information. Someone in this thread a while back got an email one like that too.

My understanding is that most of the wow keylogging that goes on is done by people who wouldn't bother with credt-cards because it's too easy to prosecute and extradite people for those kinds of charges. Hacking wow accounts? Not so much.
 
Guess I won't be able to play tonight. I logged on after doing a password change and adding an authenticator to it saying the Ban was until 3:20am (UTC) May 24th. Well its 3:40am UTC and everytime I log in to manage my account to add a credit card it says that my license etc is still banned..

wtf T_T and I don't even get that 3:20am message anymore :(

Heh, I got 3 hour ban once that lasted for over a day, I was going crazy until I logged in in the game and noticed that it doesn't change on website until you log in in the actual game and not only website

At least it was like that back then so try playing ;)

First off, how does the phishing actually target wow info? I only hear of this via shady sites and the sort. Secondly, people fall for the in game messages from "Blizzerd" or emails from "wowblizzsite.com"? Oh well.

I rock an authenticator now for an extra edge. I'd be pissed if I got hacked. I mean, I know i'd get it all back, but it's the trouble of dealing with Blizzard's CS that'd really annoy me. You can be on the phone for hours with them at times.

You know what... People who find the game to easy should stop using addons, reading guides, and start soloing lich king blindfolded. Then maybe these ubercore gamers will finally get a challenge since its so easy mode now.



I completely don't understand the sentiment that is going on with these complaints. Somehow I feel that the majority of these people, are tired of the game and blame external elements like difficulty, community and such for the game not being fun. Since the game doesn't end, many people don't know when to stop. They don't understand when to take a break or move on. They keep blaming, and in their frustration, unable to understand why they are not having as much fun as the first time(EVERYTHING IS MORE FUN THE FIRST TIME FFS) they blame the difficulty and pace.


Gameplay wise.. levelling speed wise.. flow wise.. pace of getting loot wise... pace of getting achievements. IMO it's the best now as it has ever been.

Sure we can talk about balance, BG rules and some other stuff being more fun during periods of the game, but that's balance and as subjective as the guy saying it. But overall, surrounding the game.

Dungeon Finder took this game up two notches. Dungeon Finder is now, like one of those things that every other game wish they had. If I have to go back to Aion/AOC/WAR/FFXI... I am going back to waiting in lines for groups.
And let me tell you something.. I will never again in my life, play a game where it takes up too two hours on average or more to find a group, just to attempt to do a dungeon. I hope many others feel the same. So it's fixed. Blizzard upped the standard and set the new bar for what every company must bring to the table - A promise of the gamers being able to have fun CONSTANTLY, instead of waiting in lines forever.

I agree with all of this.

I activated on a whim, thought I'd do enough dungeons to get some of the new heirlooms and level up a Druid or something.

But then I found out I could gear up pretty damn fast, so I'm doing that instead.

I started at 4,100 GS (all the good shit from Nax25 basically) and I'm already 4,500 GS after two nights. With as many people who are bored with ICC, it's prime time to come back and nab a slot.

Heroics are already getting boring, but I can deal with it long enough to get two more tier 9 pieces and a few of the other triumph token pieces.
 
Honestly, it is way easier right now. Apart from heroic LK, though I'd argue if he is harder than M'uru :< Though, limited attempts make it hard to compare (and, they suck, thanks God it's not coming back in Cata)

But I kinda do like the new system of progression. While TBC's "go through all instances in order" had it's charm, I like being able to run ICC25 with my alts. And as it's coming back in Cata, there is not much we can discuss right now.

I'd assume that you have to go to their site and enter your login details to claim your sweet prize ;) Considering that there are still cases of successful Nigerian bank transfer scams I'm not surprised by any of the dumb things people do online.
 
hmm... so I just hit 71 this weekend (first character ever that high) and we get to Nexus in a Dungeon Finder group. The tank says "hey so and so, wanna tank? I think I want to do dps instead" and the guy says yes (like a 71 tank). So we clear the first 2-3 pulls without any problem and the guy says "Ok guys, we should all be pushing 1.5K right now and only the mage (me) is over 1K." So I look at my recount and this fucking tool is at like 700dps after ASKING if he could dps. We get through the third or fourth pull without ANY problems.. like 10-13 seconds, and he says "alright guys, I'm not doing this. Good luck." He drops, and then the healer drops............. so.... to recap, the tank asks another warrior to tank so he can DPS, bitches because no one is doing enough DPS even though everyone is at least 20% above him or more, and then drops and takes the healer with him. so now we are back in queue with 3 dps waiting for a healer and tank.. on a weekend. everybody just dropped at that point (and I can't blame any of them).

nothing major I know.... just scares me for what I have to look forward to as I get clsoer to heroics. FWIW, maybe half an hour later we cleared Nexus easy and I topped out DPS at around 1.2K, with the tank right behind me at around 1.1-1.2K. And really.. not a single death and the tank was pulling massive pulls (2-3 at a time) and the healer was keeping up (though a bit oom between massive pulls). So basically that other guy was completely full of shit???
 
oh, and I realize with arcane I may be able to do much more single target burst dps (I think AG was saying3K burst) but so far I've had no complaints about my dps, and now properly geared for WOTLK (WOTLK greens and a handful of dungeon blues) like I said, I am hitting around 1.1-1.2K dps bursting up to around 2K with frost. not to mention I am finding it insanely fun with more than just FB and the occasional Fireball proc.. My rotation right now is:

FB non-stop. When fingers of Frost procs, if target is not immune to freezing cast Ice Lance right when current FB is done queuing to hit frozen target with both. If target is immune to freezing hit with an instant deep freeze. Cast free fireball when it procs and no fingers of frost is procced. Highest recorded DPS on recount was around 2.2K with 2 FB crits, an ice lance crit, and a fireball crit (gotta love 23% crit with Molten Armor) all for about 12K in around 4 seconds. My deep freeze also crits for around 8.8K on non-freezable targets. This is at level 71... :D can't wait to see my DPS at 80!!!! Especially if/when I switch to arcane or FFB.

Youve got nothing to worry about. Even with lower geared people most heroics take like 15-25 min tops. The only heroics that pose any kind of threat of wiping are the Icecrown ones (Halls of Reflection in particular causes problems if people dont know the fight well). The second experience is going to be the norm from the tons of times ive used the DF for heroics.

This exactly. I've seen this trend happen alot lately. DPS queues as a tank then makes up an excuse to dps. Some are so brazen they just state, "I'm DPS, I just picked Tank to get into a group faster." Then you get to have fun kicking them. :lol
 
Does anyone know if you can actually use Disengage to save yourself from a Val'kyr drop in the Lich King fight? The internet seems to be divided 50/50 on the issue. I tried it once and it didn't go off, but I'm wondering if it was because I may have had the Val'kyr targeted and not the Lich King. If it is possible, can the person doing it do it reliably enough to have the raid not DPS the Val'kyr and keep focusing on the boss?

Only class I know that is capable of doing something like that is warlocks cause of teleport.

Yeah. We don't have a Warlock in our party, but that's what happens in the main 10 main raid. If the Warlock gets picked up they don't even worry about the Val'kyr and continue on the boss. I wouldn't worry about trying it except for the fact that we're still learning the fight and need any help we can get. That and more than one person has said it's possible.

Which reminds me, i got a DK yesterday who queued as Tank. He didn't say a word, was fighting in Blood Presence, had only 2 or 3 piece of tank gear and only 20k HP unbuffed. Needless to say after we killed the 1st mob, i asked him if he was thinking of tanking like that all the way, then the rest of the group asked a bunch of questions like if ever did this place, if he ever tanked before, etc... he left soon after, yet again without saying a word.

Good thing i rarely see this kind of stupid DPS who think they can tank like they DPS.

Not sure if this is what you meant, but fingers of frost gives your next two spells the shatter crit bonus. So you always always always, (once it procs) cast one frostbolt, then ANOTHER, but while that second one is winding up, be mashing your icelance key. The icelance will leave your hands at the exact same time as the second frostbolt and will also get the fingers of frost bonus, meaning even though FoF makes your next 2 frost spells a bonus, you actually squeeze 2 frostbolts and and Icelance into that bonus. Its more dps. Kind of a way to milk the mechanic.

I'm pretty sure you cannot intervene the valk drop, don't you have to currently be on the ground / above a solid surface in order to intervene? Never tried it, only done that fight as a tank.

You need a valid path to intervene/charge/intercept. This works downwards while falling since you kinda teleport to the ground and charge from there, but doesn't work that well upwards.

Oh and not to mention that you'd need someone to intervene to. Usually the raid stacks near the middle and the range would get iffy.
 
This just in, got a perm forum ban from WoW forums. Six days after posting two posts in gen discussion forum, but less than 1 hour after I reported 4 players for trolling a realm forum dissing another guild who got the alliance first kingslayer title.

Any correlation that I get perm forum banned for a post 6 days earlier but within 1 hour of my reporting others for trolling.

Edit: also just went to look on the realm forum. The post where I reported the 4 other players for trash talking was removed from the realm forum. So they got all the posts I reported read them, then removed the thread from the realm forum then they looked at my posting history and decided to perm ban me for 2 posts made 6 days earlier from the general discussion forum. So they agreed with me and banned me in the same move. Also I had not posted in the realm forum thread which started innocently by a horde asking who the alliance guild was that killed Arthas.

I agree with Grimace, you should be banned for posting there. That forum is fucking terrible. Post something there against someone else trolling, their friends will all show up and "report" you, getting you banned. Don't like the music in Storm Peaks while others do? You'll be reported and banned. Don't find a meme on there funny? You're banned. Don't lick Blue's balls? Banned. Dislike anything Blizzard does? You are banned. Their army of dick riders would scare any other "fan club following" for other companies.

WoW has the worst community following out of any game or company ever. It's for the better you got banned before your IQ plummets beyond recovery. Funny thing is, some of the worst posters there are the "Greens", or MVPs.

Actually, I've seen mobs of them on Oceanic PVP realms too. Since there are so few oceanic servers they seem to just... bunch up. But there's almost always people role playing in the Goldshire in, RP server or not. Usually it's just one or two people fucking around (literally) in the upstairs bedrooms.

Been saying that for years. The worst part of any MMO, ironically, are the people who play it. WoW's community actually gives me headaches, I highly doubt people like Ghostcrawler actually read it because doing so on a regular basis would lead to suicidal tenancies. Much more likely; non-posting mods or some kind of screening system picks specific posts and then a team of mods working closely with the developers acts under the guise of a single blue poster.

If not, well... those guys have a gift for dealing with the most insultingly detestable filth to ever dribble out of anything resembling humanity.
 
Still seeing lots of crying about worgen on other forums. Really now, if you're ok with forsaken, giant man cows and big blue russians who crash landed in a pink crystal spaceship (led by holy windchimes)...then you should be ok with wolf men.

Worgen and tauren players can share yiffing tips...fuck!
