If you are willing to pay a monthly subscription fee to play WoW, you've already sold your soul to Blizzard. A one-time fee of 6 more dollars for added security will get you front row seats to the underworld :)

Unrelated, for any of you that play a prot pally, what keybinds do you use? I've been trying to come up with something that works for me.

Q: Judegments
E: Consecration
shift+W: Hammer of wrath
R: hand of reckoning
F: righteous defense
C: hammer of justice

Trying to figure where to put avenger's shield and holy wrath into the mix. Is that too convoluted? I've never liked using the number keys 1-4. maybe I could use shift+E and shift+D?
Could you use V, Z, or X, or are those reserved for something else important? I put auto-run on shift-W, and keybind the others you list plus V, X, Z, and 1 through 4. From my experience the easiest to reach in a hurry are E, R, F, V, C, and X. Those should have your most-used abilities. Q and Z are under the pinky and slightly more difficult for me, but still perfectly workable.

If you think that's convoluted you should see my Priest keybinds. All the keys I just listed including 1 through 4, plus all those keys modified by Shift, plus all those keys modified by Ctrl, and I'm about to pile some PvP macros on the Alt-modified keys.

EDIT: I've had an n52 for years. When I got it I didn't have space on my desk to hold the n52, my keyboard, and my mouse. Now I play in front of my television on a lapboard and again, not enough space for the n52. I think it would be ideal for me if I had room for the damn thing.

I have my keyboard sitting up and off to the side when I'm using my n52. I only bring it down when I want to say something. And honestly, who wants to talk to other WoW players? We're all fucking creepers.

I can only imagine the killing Blizzard is going to make when they open up race changes for the goblins and worgen. First time the Horde gets a midget race, and the Ally, gets, um, a decent looking race outside of female drannies.

Do not have a facebook. Do not have a twitter. Do not use social networking sites at all. I have a myspace but have not checked it in over a year, and it has no information about my WoW account.

Seriously, there really is no possible way I could have been any more secure save an authenticator. And it's infuriating I should have to buy something yet more for these overpriced MMORPGs as it is (and no, I don't have an iPhone. Nor do i want a shitty iPhone! Fuck Apple.)
Guess you're just one of those bizarre hack cases :/
Sort of like if I were to ever get hacked, it wouldn't make sense to me. But I did get an authenticator for my smart phone last year so it's really unlikely now.

It's an extremely frustrating situation when your account gets hacked I can imagine; it has happened to a few of my guildies, one of whom is deployed in Iraq :(
The hacker tried to take stuff from our guild bank but I caught on, told an officer and he was demoted to prevent it.

I guess when the anger wears off (if it does), and you want to play an MMO again you gotta make sure to invest in an authenticator.
It may be a frustrating solution as you aren't in the wrong, but sometimes the easy solution is the way to go.

Also I believe that there are authenticator apps for a bunch of different smartphones nowadays, not just iphones.

They're probably already making quite a killing on race changes, and server transfers, and non combat pets, faction changes.

Good god the amount of money they're making :lol

yes the servers were up but down again.

Okay guys. wauw as hell! WOW. Westfall is... uhm. f**king amazing. brilliant shit.

One of the stories took me by surprise. Like.. fucking KOTOR level of surprise. I fell of my chair and squirted pepsi all over my keyboard. It was one of those. Incredible! Okay, let me explain to you - the NPCs still are still as generic and ugly as ever, but the stories.. its getting much much better both in writing and pacing.

Dialouge is quicker and snappier than the dragged out stuff in death knight horror. there are references to everything.

I was told to go to parker in redridge. you remember him? he is the first guy you meet in redridge.. back then he was a patrol guard and you had to kill gnolls for him and buy him flowers for his mistress from the flower shop lady - a skank he was being unfaifthful too. Now he runs the damn brigade in redridge in his tower at three corners. EPIC stuff.

Man.. what else? i saw my first phasing. the homeless hillbillies are getting riled up and i had to scout moonbrook for flyers to commit revolution and go against the king and the stormwind army. it was really cool. you see the references to the american war in iraq all over. the political stuff. its all very fast and not over done. I am very impressed.

But i am going to have to shut my mouth about this quest line, because.. i have screens but this is some shit that you guys dont want spoiled if your human. this was actually the best i have seen ever in a wow zone. right here in Westfall.

biased? maybe. I liked westfall in the old days, but I also always hated it. Westfall was always a sort of boring place but with its own charm. Deadmines was great, the defias was boring and I hated the long walking distance. that is still there but there are several FPs around..

im very impressed by this. I really, really am. I got my first healing spell at lvl 15(paladin healing without holy power.. read.. ) but it was bugged so no luck trying it.

there qre quests leading into deadmines there are the same. (dwarf guy in dwarfen district.. he still talks about mining union gear in deadmines and finding out about his missing buddy).. also the quest to get rez is still the same. someone in this thread mentioned it when we were talking about it. this quest still talks like henze got attacked by the defias.. but they are not around.

I gave a feedback saying that they should put henze inside the new deadmines and make it so a paladin can first learn rez after having done that dungeon or halfway through. rez is a powerful skill and I think its good for paladins to have to "earn it". it will also make it feel more powerful. I think that just because Paladin is also a healer(potentially) it shouldnt all come as easy as a priest...).

Concerns right now:

water is screwed up.. took it down. they need to fix that.

sunshafts is creating artifacts on all nvidia cards. using shader model 4.0 and 5.0. apparently it runs great on ATI cards. i disabled it for now.

No more learning weapon skills.. no more training in weapons. you know - you learn a new weapon and you have to get the skill to 400... that stuff was annoying but it has removed so much from the game, that I am actually feeling its getting to generic.

I feel like that I want to run a bit more, and visit some more specific trainers to learn stuff.

A radical and awesome(IMO) suggestion I have would be an idea from SWG - In SWG in the early days, to master your class, you had to be trained by a actual player of the same class who had already mastered it. then in return the mastered player would get special xp for having taught new players. this forced the community together. some people demanded to be paid, but others just did it for free.
a less radical version would be just to allow players to train other players in certain things, but not getting xp or anything out of it. wow has an insane amount of players so going over to someone to be trained shouldnt be a problem. achievements and other stuff could be implanted. "achievement: trained by another player" and "you have trained 300 players " and stuff.

A less radical idea would be to make talents trainable at specific trainers.. so im a paladin. why cant I go to a special master dude who specialise in retribution? some crazy zealoty crusader type dude who lives in a cave and can teach me that which the other paladins who believe in the protective and holy ways cant?

a better example is a priest who decides to go shadow - why would a mother of all good holy priest teach someone shadow?

screw the lore.. its just that I feel that its coming to easy now, and since talents have been much better implanted.. new talents pop up, you get to try them before you submit, the interface is 100 times as good. there are many reasons why talents now feel like skills.. and you only get talents at every second level. getting talents is sort of rare.

with all these fp, and with rank removal of skills you have to go to a trainer a lot less often which makes trainers less uniqe and more of a... i don't know. they just dont feel as important as they used to.
trainable talents would be cool from trainer experts. a few holy talent trainers around the continent in churches and cathedrals... protection paladin trainers in other places, and retribution paladin trainers around in remote places or somewhere else.

it would also be to make the different schools of talents more uniqe. because lets face it - its turning more and more into you dive into a class and stay there. they are disencouraging dabbling.. and of course this hurts the uniqeness, but I think they did it for balance reasons.

Its my belief that your supposed to stay in one talent tree mainly and let that be that. your not supposed to go halfway into two trees. no. you go all the way in one tree and get bottom of the second and/or third. thats it.

so.. that means less builds than before, so each of the tree talent trees should feel more uniqe in every way.

im going to write these suggestions on the beta forums, but I would like your take on it. I'll go through spelling check and use more time to present the idea, but maybe you have some good points to why I am wrong, or something else I should consider in my beta forum bitching.

I really like the beta right now. I hope i'm not overhyping or selling it too much. But there are so many bugs. I don't see this being out for months and months. my guess would be november as the earliest this could be ready!

With all my race changes ( I race change about once a month ) I have never encountered any problems with titles, only thing that changes iirc is the mount, but other people's experiences may be different.
Cool, good to hear.

Will be doing so ASAP; I'm tired of the big tail and hooves.
I'm totally down for being a bearded drunk though :lol

If it wasn't for the gryphon feathers, I'd agree. That said, Troll totems are still the best.

TotalBiscuit had his preview video of the new tauren 1-4 experience in Cataclysm, but I kind of feel like it sucked. I'd call it better than the current tauren 1-4 experience but that's about as far as it goes.

you can find it on mmo-champion if you want to watch it. Maybe the later levels are better. I just didn't find mulgore 1-4 to be that cool from what he was showing us.

It's better than what the Dwarf starting area currently is. That thing is so horrible.

at least the Dwarf area is supposed to be getting revised. That Tauren area looked pretty final to me, but who knows.

Tauren starting area is fine but they need to cut down some of the running in that zone. Certain quests are all over the place and it's a pain to run back and forth looking for those damn animal kills like the cougars and wolves.

My problem with sitting through his videos is the fact that he can't pronounce "r" correctly, he's a bit like Jonathon Ross. For example, "Tauren" sounds like "Tauwen" :lol

My setup does use 1-4, from memory - so it might be a bit wonky - it's this:

1: Cleanse Macro (Target friendly, cleanse friendly; target enemy, cleanse their target; target no-one, cleanse self)
2: Shield of Righteousness / Hammer of the Righteous alternating macro.
3: Judgement (I run multiple near-identical toolbars, so I toggle between them to change my 'default judgement')
ALT-3: Sacred Shield (Same rules as cleanse macro)
4: Seal of Vengeance
`: Divine Plea
Q: Holy Shield
CTRL-Q: Hand of Reckoning
ALT-Q: Righteous Defense
E: Consecration
ALT-E: Avenger's Shield

F: Usually my mount macro, but I press it into service for fight-specific benefits; Holy Wrath on heroic Anub, Exorcism/Hammer of Wrath (with alt) macro for Blood Princes, Jetpack on Gunship.

On top of this I have some Clique setups for an alternative means of cleansing people via Grid and for emergency Hand of Protection/Sacrifice/Freedoms. Sometime I need to coax Grid into showing reasonable threat information so I can use it for Salvation, too.

Long cooldowns I click, which I'm not particularly satisfied about; for Cataclysm I'm planning to move from WASD to ESDF to give myself a few more keys to play with, since it looks like I'm going to have to relearn everything *anyway*.

Does anyone know if the level requirement for dual spec is going to be lowered from 40?
I believe they confirmed about a week ago or so that both level requirement and cost of dual spec is going to be lowered in Cata. I'm not entirely sure though

Excellent, I figured seeing as how your locked into 1 tree completely, they'd have to lower the level requirement at least. Dual Spec should be available at level 15, same level as the first instance you can queue for.

Halfway to the required Khorium Power Cores for my mage's epic copter. I know I could just buy them from the AH but getting the skill is expensive enough. Khorium is stupidly rare though. I find it about once every two zones, but at least I get loads of other ores to sell meanwhile.

Currently it seems Nagrand has the most Khorium but it's hard to find an effective route around it, since unlike Zangarmarsh there's nodes all over the zone and not just along the edges.

Be lucky there's been another expansion. Now at least almost nobody mines the Khorium.

I love how the entirety of your gear sucks so much its painful to see... except two pieces. It just exemplifies the way this expansion has worked as far as getting people up and into the game as fast as possible once hitting 80.

Congrats on 80.

Well, i've seen way worst.
Like DKs in northrend using random greens with spell power. Or hunters with tanking rings.

His only problem is being undergeared really. Although, who knows what kind of gear he would have if he had made a hunter or plate class. It's harder for newbie clothies to make mistakes with their stats since there is no such thing as cloth gear with agility or attack power(from quests at least).

You'd fucking throw yourself off a building if you saw my character then. I'm 79 at the moment and don't plan on having anything even close to what he has when I hit 80.

And no, I'm not going to post my armory so you guys can laugh at me, haha.

Got my first two Heroic epics ever and just hit 5.9k Gearscore. Good lord, I remember being in greens and inspecting full t7 pals running around IF and saying "I'll never reach those levels" :p

Heroic Deathwhisper and Putricide. I want to hurt whoever it was at Blizzard that came up with those encounters. Fuck those fights man.

So, flying around Cata...
So disorienting.
I mean, some things are the same, but it's all so completely different.
There's a freaking golf course in Ashzara!

Putricide I agree with. That fight is bananas.

Syndragosa is even worse.

Okay so two things.

1) Im almost finished with Redridge mountains, and it's actually even more awesome than Westfall. But let me tell you - 80% of the quests are based around pop culture references and spoofs... I know for a fact that some people are going to be really, really, really fucking pissed over this. They will think it's mind numbling dumb and retarded. I for one thought it was awesome, because even though it was a complete over-the-top parody involving the human storyline, it boosted some really really fun things.

2) I am going to apply for a job, to assist a spastic handicapped man, who needs help playing WoW. According to the job description he has a lvl 80 Hunter and he does raids...

It sounds so extreme in a way. To assist a man who can't play WoW because he is completely paralyzed!? In one way I am fucking terrified, because yeah.. it would also have to be helping the man with hygine, and other stuff but I am wondering if it will kill my own want to play WoW.
It's such a bizaare situation. It just never occured to me, that someone you interacte with in the game, could be someone in this handicapped mans situation. Lots of food for thought TBH...

So tonight I raided ICC for the first time. It was a 10man normal mode, I was one of the tank.
I did precise I had never done it and the leader took he's time explaining to me. I had checked videos and strats online but it's usually not the same knowing about an encounter and living it.

We did the first 4 bosses and I'm happy to report we never wiped because of my incompetence :D
I even got the tanking necklace from the first boss so I'm pretty happy about it. Only thing is my reputation is 2900/3000 of being friendly and thus get the ring... Oh well, next time.
