It's unabashedly a clone, but it's better in concept than Hogwarts.
Hogwarts: The four smartest Wizards of their age decide "We should build a school, that way other people can be as awesome as we are." A pig in a dream tells Ravenclaw where to build it. Slytherin says "So we're all in unspoken agreement, right? No Jews and no Niggers?" The other three go wide-eyed. Slytherin says "Fine, jerks. I can tell when I'm not wanted" and quits. The other three bow to pressure from the Trump vote and hire the first in a long line of replacement Slytherins, ensuring that hatred and bigotry will always find a home at Hogwarts.
Ilvermorny: A descendant of Slytherin is kidnapped and abused by her family. She runs away to the New World, forms bonds with magical creatures, marries a muggle, and adopts orphaned Wizard children. She builds a school for her kids so they can have the positive Hogwarts experience she never had, and it quickly grows to become the equal of Hogwarts. Somehow an abused, uneducated child of Slytherin can create a more healthy and well-adjusted school than the greatest four Wizards in history.
