OP just a thought, but do you play any instruments? Could be worth going to an open-mic night or something and play.

I'll be doing very much that this Thursday...

I'll be singing in front of roughly 30 people, so hopefully I'll be good enough to get some compliments from viewers! I've never sung in front of an audience before so I'm shitting myself, but I assume it'll help out in a big way in terms of confidence.

I've gone plenty of times to see people play, but not actually perform myself.

I used to talk to a lot of girls on flickr but no one post there anymore. :( I liked the anonymity better. there are some girls I really want to talk to on facebook that I have bookmarked but I get nervous when I think how they will response to me friending them. I don't want them to respond with "do I know you."

You should forget about those girls, unless they are at the very least a friend of a friend (of a friend). I hear that kids nowadays use something that's called "Twittre" so maybe you'll have a better luck there, and you can always turn to conventional dating sites where you can let scientific algorithms find you your dream partner.

That's what I always think.

I'd go insane if things were turned opposite and I couldn't have the person I was flirting with "get it" or get the confidence to "go for me".

EDIT - And this is also exactly why girls often date assholes. Not being they are "cooler" or "tougher", but because they are the only ones who have enough balls to ask them out to begin with.

YES! It's amazing how logical people try to be when approaching women. The less you think, the better off you'll be. It's easier said than done of course but that's where you need to aim.

twitter sucks because it has no pictures. And those fb girls are complete strangers. They just look cool. The problem with dating sites is the old people. no one young uses them. And it's mostly weirdos too. I just need to find a place with normal and cool girls. I'll just stick to flickr for now. It's not that awkward when I response to a pic and private profiles are rare.

I'm not a fan of dating sites but it's not only old folk. I know some extremely hot hairstylists who got their husbands through Match.com and the like, and my personal stylist's husband is a Nuclear Engineer and they're doing very well for themselves, and she's incredible.

It's gotten to be too common now for only "weirdos" to use it, I can think of almost 10+ relationships (current) that were made online. I'd say if anything Flickr would be much more strange.

Try OK Cupid. It's a much younger demographic there. I've met lots of cool people on that site, and had a few dates as well.
 
Go get yourself rejected. Seek rejection.

Keep doing this until you can get rejected and afterwards go hang out with friends, have a few drinks, play video games or whatever and just still have an awesome day without even feeling anything. Then you're ready to get with a girl.
