I said the same thing about MoS/BvS...but hopefully they're wrong. Didn't like First Class or DOFP so this may not be my movie but I still want it to be good.

well, they're not done by 2 wildly different quality directors

besides, BvS probably is better than MoS to me, tbh

but maybe that's just the different expectations I went in with

This one's for you Disco

How is making a blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant Man and trying to build a cinematic universe cowardice?

Cowardice? Really?

Hearing "It's not as good/It's worse than The Last Stand" sounds effing crazy. That movie was a huge overcrowded messy turd that went out of its way to work in a dumb internet meme in the third act.

so TMNT 2 is good, Suicide Squad is bad, Dr. Strange is good. this sounds about right
Yeah, but that makes me afraid for Suicide Squad. I'm not sure if the DCEU can handle 2 bad movies in a row when it's just starting out. At least the MCU is to the point where, even if a terrible movie were to happen, Marvel can just move swiftly on & win back the public's trust with a great movie or two afterwards. DC has yet to earn that goodwill, hence my concern.

'Cause no one dies or something. Except you know, the ones who die that don't make you feel anything anyway so you probably forgot they did.

The most insane moment I've seen in SH movies yet is Deadpool being fucked with a strap-on, but maybe this one has something edgier.

Yes, cowardice.

I felt in in Civil War, and it was probably my biggest complaint- I don't have any faith that the universe can take any chances with their characters anymore. Everyone feels invincible and it detracts from the experience.

I'm curious as to which moment Ehrlich is referencing.

It could be like, 3 or 4 different things, I think.

He explictately mentioned in his review (SPOILERS OBV) when
Magneto actually destroys Auschwitz of all fuckin' places

David also admitted him
being Jewish probably helped, cuz that was like...the ultimate Jewish power fantasy.

This isn't surprising, but it sucks. I wanted this to be this years Edge of Tomorrow. Shit marketing with a great flick but after the final trailer when they plastered JLaw all over it, it was too good to be true.

Sounds like it's decent but nothing great. About what I expected. As a huge X-Men fan, it's just really hard to do the franchise justice without a lot of single-hero driven films at a steady pace like MCU. They end up cramming when they make these films and no one really benefits the more you watch it.

there are on steaks unless someone dies right?

Really disappointed by the reception, I love this series, thing is the trailers didn't seem to do much at all for me but was hoping my instincts were wrong. I'll sure see it for my myself at some point but yeah, another franchise on my I loved list that's put out a possible stinker in its latest entry. I'm a jinx ha ha

almost sounds like the good kind of mess that BvS should've been.

To be fair I think that's exactly what the first half of BvS was. Doomsday onwards fucked everything up for me. I was kinda enjoying the movie for what it was until the last 40 minutes or so.

I wonder how he feels about playing Nazi Zombies.

Now this is the kind of heavy-handedness that I expect from my CBMs.

Day 1

the ending of Days of Future Past is probably the biggest fan-service moment i've seen in any comic book movie ever and it was straight up delightful

from the get-go of this movie just suddenly going a different route than that, I was already like 80 percent less excited

I dont think I can get that out of my head while watching this

them going "LOOK WE KNOW WE FUCKED UP LOOK HERE'S EVERYONE THEY'RE ALL HERE! WE FIXED IT!" was perfection and then just "lol nah stick with these other guys a bit more"

Yeah, that was definitely one of the three I thought he'd be mentioning.

And to think that Spielberg didn't think there was anything else you could do to Nazis!

That might be one of the most Singer-y things ever, though.

LOL oh wow. Ballsy as fuck.

TBF for a cinematic universe with dozen's of movies the fact that the heroes almost never really fail to stop the villains objects or really lose is quite jarring. I mean i know the villain will temorarily win in Infinity war 1 but imagine a long running tv series or something, where the heroes succeed almost completely pretty much all the time. The way these films are design you could easily have a successful villain in a movie or two to hype up a confrontation in a future and they don't have to be universal level threats.

I saw this with friends who HATE Tom Cruise. Like.. Preoccupied hate towards him. They wanted to see him get killed over and over.

But Edge of Tomorrow was fucking good. You can't put a finger on it. We laughed our fucking asses off. That was such a funny, bizarre and different alien invasion film. Major kudos to Edge of Tomorrow!

BvS was at about that score with those review numbers and only went down from there.

Both are in a similar situation

The cutoff for fresh is 6/10 I believe. BvS ended up with a lot more 4s and 5s which brought it to 27%. This one could end up not scoring that much higher but if enough critics give it a 6 instead of a 5 it could swing in the other direction and end up around 50-60%
