Get out of here with this "Give the X-Men back to Marvel!" crap. At most, I'd want to see Deadpool make a 30 second cameo in an MCU movie. That's it.

Eh. I dunno. I'd want to see Jackman Wolverine fighting Hulk, at least. But X-Men doesn't have to go back to Marvel to do that. GIVE HULK TO FOX!

Don't be shittin me, man. Are you saying it's worse than all mainline X-men films barring X3?

Everyone forgets X1!

I mean, I'm less than a couple hours off seeing it for the first time, but I did enjoy it, thought it was overall a good movie. I don't think it's as good as X2, or First Class. I can see arguments for it being just as good or narrowly missing the mark set by Days of Future Past. It's easily better than X-Men, X-Men: The Last Stand, Wolverine Origins, and the Wolverine.

I think I was more or less just surprised at how willing Singer was to finally stop apologizing for making X-men movies and just make a fuckin' X-Men movie.

This has been my main complaint about Singer's X-men movies for years so that's good to hear.

Unfortunately based on your rankings it sounds like I won't actually enjoy this movie much anyway.

I hope she signs up for another movie and is in the next Wolverine film too.

Oh, damn, I was looking forward to this one. Figured the trailers were just doing a bad job at showing off the money...

Will probably wait for this one to come out on Bluray.

But the score man

The score...

Also the same writer as The Last Stand actually

Singer almost had the writers who did X2 back and still decided to let Kinberg be the only one to write the script. Sounds like that was a mistake

Almost choked on my brekkie reading this.

Who on Earth thought this was a great idea?!!! FFS.

But Days of Future Past is a much better movie than First Class, so now I'm confused.

And like I said. There are more X-men moments in this X-Men movie than most of the other X-Men movies combined. There was some shit I was absolutely not expecting them to handle accurately at all, even as it was happening.

Guess the mainstream won't appreciate a completely comic-book accurate X-Men movie :(

I always omit X1 because some people love it, some people hate it :3

Well you got me convinced. But so help me God, if you've led me astray on this one, there's nothing I can do about it.

ABSOLUTELY.

NOTHING.

Shame it's one of the lesser in the series. Enjoy this series so hopefully the characters make up for any weaknesses in the overall story.

From what I've read/seen in reviews, it still seems like I'll enjoy it quite a bit. Hopefully that's the case.

I'm a gigantic fan of the X-Men movies, and I think First Class, X2, and DOFP are in the upper echelon of comic book movies.

It's hugely disappointing that his movie is getting panned especially after DOFP reset everything - what was the point in that if this movie is bad.

It's not completely comic book accurate. But it's more accurate than a lot of X-movies have ever really attempted - and I think they got Kinberg beating the press drum today specifically because the way this movie ends seems to suggest that when he says "The next one's in the 90s" he means "We're really trying to get back to that Animated Series vibe."

Ugh, I knew this was happening. Seems like the only studio that can produce good films is Marvel Studios.

Give X-Men back to the MCU and bring them home.

as expected. one more nail in that coffin and maybe marvel can start talking again.

Nah, Deadpool's success may ward off such a scenario for a while. As long as Deadpool 2 & Wolverine 3 don't end up sucking, Fox will be fine.

I wasn't wowed by any of the trailers, but I would've never expected anything less than a 80% from a Singer X-Men flick.

Don't do this.

Farm scene for life.

"Did Cap just say language?"

Age of Ultron was a mistake. Joss Whedon was a mistake. The Russos should've took over sooner.

Doesn't this come out in three weeks? Why is the embargo let off so early? These reviews are gonna cripple xmens opening weekend. Yikes.

Called this when I saw the trailer.

The first DoFP trailer was awesome. It suggested the movie would have some seriously great character moments. "Please. We need you to hope again."

The Apocalypse trailer was like "All these guys get together to fight a big purple guy. He's, like, really powerful." Nothing interesting. Seemingly just a piece of product.

Why does that gag bug people so much? Cap even says "it just slipped out" and them all being friends, make it a point to bug him about it.

Disheartening to hear. X-Men is one of the few movies nobody I know wants to see so I was hoping it would be received well. Now I have a potentially bad movie to see that I have to see alone, lol.

Batman vs. Superman and potentially X-Men getting significantly worse scores than Deadpool.

Who saw this coming.

I did. Superman vs Batman was clearly a rushed job in playing catch up to Marvel and X-men Apocalyse didn't impress me with the trailers, which is a shame as I liked First Class, Day of Future Past and Deadpool.

The next few weeks won't be fun, X-Men fans.

Well at least they had Scarlet Witch being in Civil War to soften the blow.

Can we wait until we see his solo flick first? Then we can see if it's better than SM2.

Well Spider-Man in civil war was the best movie version of Spider-Man so chances are that it will be good if not better.

Hulk rights are already a mess, lets not make it worse.

Will we get a "Sad Fassbender" video at least?

* sad loss trumpet *

Fuck. I had hoped Apocalypse would be on par with DofP, even if the main villain always did have a 'hammier' aspect to him, in the 90's cartoon anyway. There's no good reason that should have lead to being "messy" though, which is an odd descriptor to read in what is a very straightforward storyline (in the 90's cartoon that is supposedly pretty faithful to the comic line, so yeah, simple). But that's also true of Age of Ultron I suppose. Or more to the point: should have been.

This is where I'm at. The premise alone was less interesting than dofp and X2 for me. But I was hoping singer would counter that with the usual character stuff he's good at. Bobby's review sounds fairly positive at least. Curious how this turns out

I'm sure it would probably involve spoilers if you went too far into details (I don't care, but the Sculli Plague has taken an entire generation at this point), but would you attribute the film's problems to what Kinberg wrote or to how Singer approached the script?

Kinberg is hardly a master craftsman, but I've found that Singer can have a tendency to push things in a little too hard when they needed to be pulled back.

Agreed.

I'm not expecting any of the super big-bad centered movies to be good (Darkseid, Thanos, etc) but they need good character stuff to make it not a stupid movie.
