A friend saw a screening of this and gave it 3/10.

He said that the film's worst 'crime' is that it's painfully dull in parts (even the last battle apparently) and the question of whether Magneto is truly bad or not is still a plot thread after all this time.

Movie is huge downgrade from DoFP. It's like X-2 to Last Stand.

Action scenes are mediocre.

Recruitment process is so cheesy.

It's totally an apocalypse. What a boring movie.

So it is twice as good as BvS

I'm glad to see some good impressions. Frankly, I thought DoFP was fucking stellar and was really looking forward to this one. I think Singer generally does good work and I didn't want to believe that the film was "on the same level as X-Men 3" like some people were saying.

If you liked DoFP you should like this movie, though only if you're okay with how Magneto and Mystique are depicted.

Anyone here willing to spoil for me anything
Wolverine
related in the movie? I'm not all that interested in rushing out to see this but I want to know about
his cameo
and any other relevant tidbits.

I'm, uh...what?

Why is he in a box? What's the box? Who takes him out? Why is he so hairy?

Jean, Cycops and Nightcrawler are in the facility trying to free their friends. They're caught so Jean unleashes whatever is in the box which turns out to be Wolverine. He has no memories and he's pretty much just a mindless killing machine.

The box is housing Wolverine. I'm assuming he's in the Box because they were still experimenting on him and to restrain him.

Got it, thanks.

He's hairy because he has no shaving cream in the box.

This was clearly the most pressing issue I needed resolved, thank you.

The mixed reception so far really bums me out, but I'm still all in next week, hoping Cyclops finally gets room to shine. It can't possibly be worse than X3.

Are we just supposed to accept the fact that the ages of Cyclops, Jean, etc dont match up to the current timeline (post DoFP)?

They should be around 20s in Apocalypse. So theyre around 50 in the current timeline right?

They're teens in Apocalypse, aren't they? So that would mean the Scott, Jean, and Storm at the end of DOFP are the best looking 60 year olds ever.

Finally get Nightcrawler back in these movies and it has to get reviews like this. Gotta say, as a fan of Singer's X-Men films, the trailers for this one haven't been doing it for me. Seems like I know why.

Haven't seen it yet (US), but this is depressing.

Maybe if I pray hard enough, FF and X-Men will end up with Marvel.

I enjoyed the movie even though the action wasn't brilliant. Didn't like the look Apocalypse and found him too goofy looking. DOFP still best X-Men film.

I liked the film overall but I think a RT score of 50 sounds about right. It is very flawed, more than any Singer X-Men film before, but there are a lot of things to enjoy and the Quicksilver scene is some of the best superhero action I've ever seen. Even if this isn't the best movie in the franchise, it still is an enjoyable film and fans have nothing to worry about even if the film underperforms a bit.

With the success of Deadpool, they're going to keep making these movies for a while and Apocalypse paves the way for some interesting stories down the line and it certainly is a lot better than The Last Stand or Wolverine Origins. I just think Singer needs to take a break and direct smaller movies for a while and maybe produce the next couple of X-Men films instead of directing them.

Can't believe people put that much stock in Rotten Tomatoes like their lives depend on it.

Just saw it and thought it was extremely good. There's not a lot of room to breathe as it's so rushed and the character motivations aren't fully fleshed out, but everything else works really well.

I'm going to be going in expecting nothing after afew drinks. Maybe I'll get some modicum of shallow enjoyment. So disappointed by the reaction this has gotten.

Saw it last night and i agree with the score...this is bad X-Men Movie, i think its tie with X3. I usually adore Bryan Singer X-Men but this one is a mess. Bad story, boring pacing, bad character development and none memorable scene.

The great RT battle of our time: X-Men Apocalypse (51%) vs Alice 2 (36%). There's only like 14 reviews for Alice, but I think there's a chance the 2 movies do finish near other in RT score (Alice 2010 is at 52% btw).

i enjoyed it very much :) it was really cute. went in expecting stinker cuz saw the review scores and came out pretty pleased. love the little moments between the characters and the power pron deliverededededededddddddd

it was not a srs or gritty movie, and it had weak parts where the pacing was awkward and some of the characters didnt really sell me but overall i had fun :D
