Wow, at this point Fox have no choice but to double down on that hideous Apocalypse design, I mean the fucking thing is named after him after all.

Also it's interesting that Fassbender and J-Law get their 'hero shots' in the trailer but nothing for James McAvoy. It looks like McAvoy (whom I really like) has been deemed a non draw with audiences.

Watch Fox double down on the likes of Olivia Munn in future marketing/trailers to try and bring in the teenagers on the opening weekend while everyone else stays away.

Here's a thought...., what if Deadpool manages to break out from its core audience of angry 15 year olds and outperforms Apocalypse in the US?



That's where I am too. I liked DOFP but didn't love it, I think the film just fell into the usual over/underrating that goes with superhero films (I'm looking at you Deadpool) but this looks like it's going to be a total misfire on just about every level.



There can't honestly be people who think this way...., Oscar Isaac looks like something from an Asylum film. If he no longer looks 'not-horrible' does that make him 'just' bad?

I always thought it was more of a Power Rangers villain look. I mean, he looks a little better than Doomsday in BvS.

I just think Apoc would be too expensive to do proper on screen. He'd almost have to be 100% CG

They can Apoc just fine and yes it would be expensive but I think he will evolve over the course of the film into something more familiar

If you look in the background you can see stuff floating up from buildings so i'm guessing Apocalypse is wrecking shyt and maybe messing with gravity

Ermac(red guy) was a non-speaking role, not unusual for people to forget about.
Motaro(centaur) was constantly bickering with Sheeva, and has a pretty distinct look, it's kinda weird that you would forget him to be honest.

I don't think that's a fair criticism considering how Cyclops has been handled in these movies.

Not to mention Storm and Rogue have been plenty prominent in his movies. And Mystique was supposed to just be a background character and Singer significantly buffed up her role.

Real talk the only thing I remember from the movie is Jax was sleeping in a lab while the end of the world was happening right outside

And the Sub Zero fight was pretty awesome.

X-Men 3 actually reminded me a lot of this garbage fest, too many characters shoehorned in, even the final battle was the same tropes. I'm not nearly as worried here though, the Singer films have been largely great.

I can't get hyped. Don't get the appeal of Jennifer Lawrence in this, I heard why she's not in costume, but it seems silly.
Better to get a different actor. I just see Jennifer Lawrence now, same effect as a Tom Cruise.

To be fair he got plenty decent shots in the last trailer no? "Never felt power like this before" & the baldy shot. But still I somewhat agree, he (compared to those two) has been pushed in the background when he is probably been the best part of FC & DOFP.

It's still Singer-verse, just with a fresh coat of paint. That's why I asked for a real reboot.

The whole thing needs a back to basics reimagining with a different feel that for starters, allows for more source accurate costumes without it seeming out of place. Tired of the team suits.

There was a delayed flamethrower cue too! Then they ended up recycling that footage later in the movie when Liu Kang knocks the Baraka thing into the same pit, amazing.

I'm a huge X-men fan and loved X2, FC, and DOFP.


But I am terrified that this movie is going to be bad.

1. Big "kill everything" bad guys like Thanos, Darkseid, and Apocalypse make for fine cartoon villains but aren't very compelling for a movie. Oscar Isaac is a terrific actor and I have no gripe with how he looks - most of the social media comments that still clown on his look are from basement dwellers that are latching on to the old Ivan Ooze comments.

2. Lawrence as Mystique is awful. Mystique herself doesn't serve well as a main character let alone the leader of the X-Men. Considering this is an Apocalypse story, her role could have been far more interesting in a villainous role.

3. Black, generic, boring suits that reflect the 2000s Singerverse instead of a new continuity. DOFP was supposed to be a reboot so you can do whatever you want with the series, and this was a great opportunity to address a problem that alot of us had with the old series. Negasonic Teenage Warhead from Deadpool and the cast from First Class showed that yellow+black/blue looks fine in live action.

4. Bad CGI. May be forgivable if its not finalized.

5. Singer. I don't think he's the right guy for the job anymore. He's done 3 fine movies but i think he's said everything he wanted to say with his films. DOFP had alot of rehashed ideas that were distracting (Mystique breaking into a facility for information, Magneto pulling all the guns from dudes and pointing at them, etc.). Vaughn would have been a better choice.



I'll still be a day 1 but solely for Fassbender. The best comic book actor playing the best comic book character.

I'm not sold on everything else, but 95% of the problems I have with this are still centered on Apocalypse.

I've got nothing but respect for Oscar Isaac but this Apocalypse look is downright terrible (not in an "I want it more like the comics" way, but in an objective moviegoer sense). Unless the trailers are extremely unrepresentative, it could be disastrous to the film.

She got the shadow teleporting power from the Siege Perilous, if I recall my comics correctly (I don't remember what the Siege Perilous is.)
