More like Fox was riding on the JLaw hype train when she was becoming a big name and decided to base the X-Men movies around her version of Mystique.
She's not even trying lol.
The CG honestly looks like straight garbage, unfinished or not.

Well she's Mystique. The essence of her character basically came from "here, we didn't really try, let's just paint her blue and she shape shifts. Enjoy".

I'm surprised people are still surprised they push JLaw so much. She is easily the biggest/critically recognized star in the cast with Fassbender being the next closest. Of course they're going to put her front and center. Fox must have been popping champagne bottles having put her in a contract before she really blew up and they're going to milk it as much as they can before she can get out.

As likely as it is that the film turns out good, I hate how cheap the visuals look.

If she was flipping with more momentum and rotating more than one conveniently slow time while cutting it might make sense and would actually look kinetic and cool af... instead they wanted the hair and the face and the pose at the end to take center stage so they slow the whole thing down and it comes across cheap as hell.
imo of course... they way it's played out for it to work right i think she would have to have been cutting behind her as she was flipping. which works - i guess? - but still feels awkward.
Besides... Psylocke woulda done a sick flip off of the car in the air and came down with her blades out all calm as shit.

Cmon now Slay she was great in Uncanny X-Force. Even post Remender she hasn't been terrible.
