Yes, the story does involve the modern X-Men teaming with the original class in a time-spanning adventure. And before anyone says "why is [insert mutant] on the cover of [not an X-Title], this makes no sense," they're called variants.

Did they really use a CG model for Iceman or is my eyesight that bad.

Brandon Peterson has been using Poser/CG art in his covers for Marvel for years.

Oh wow, I would not have pegged that as Brandon Peterson. It's funny, I really hated him back in the early-90s with his Jim Lee-by-way-of-the-trashcan style, but the toner and shading he used to complement his work on Ultimate Galactus was really great. Probably the biggest turnaround personally from someone I hated to someone I was really excited about.

Not very excited by that Iceman piece though.

the 1990s-2000s costumes were the best now they look like crap. i don't even recognize the x-team anymore.

What ever happen to x-force, like Cannonball, Sunspot, Shatterstar, Rictor, Syrin, Domino?

I'm afraid to ask now. Cannonball was looking to be a very capable leader, it would have been cool if he ultimately became leader of the x-men blue team.

I would agree except I think Jean with the jacket looks the best for her

Cannonball is leading the New Mutants in that title. Last I read New Mutants, Cyclops was grooming him to be his future successor.

journey into mystery is fucking MINE when that bitch drops. i might have to pick up the previous issues. is beasts new design a merger of both his cat and ape forms?

It's totally awesome now. Wolverine leads a black-ops team of mutants on a crusade to kill any threat to mutant survival, all without the other X-Men ever knowing. Action, wit, moral ambiguity and win.

Is her mutant power 'extreme breast growth speeds' by any chance

No, but she is supposed to be 15 or younger. I would put down the chest issue to artists depicting her differently and most male artists not drawing teen girls as teens. Jamie Mckelvie draws a good Hope though.

Her return has heralded the reactivation of the X-gene after "Decimation" and she has shown phoenix power like tendencies (Like Jean Grey). She can mimic mutant abilities as well.

whoa whoa what now??? Oh man Rictor isn't a mutant anyone, that sucks. I hope he is a top though.

ok x-force sounds dumb now with wolverine, tired of that guy, the team should be lead by Cannonball and Boomer or is it meltdown now?

Domino is awesome hope she comes back.

I hope the current team really throws down with the year one team. Would be fun to see Cyke, Iceman, Archangel, and Emma could shut them down will little effort.

*shakes head*

Uncanny X-Force is arguably the best comic Marvel is publishing today. And while Wolverine is team leader he is not the star.

Yes, lets forget the awesome X-Treme uniforms for Storm and Rogue.

And is Hope Summers really iconic?
Is that who that is? I was like "why is Siryn packing heat as a kid"? Then I was like "how did Siryn get a cover but not Banshee"?

Storm should just ditch Panther and hook up with Thor already.

you and i need to be friends. their marriage was one of the worst marvel decisions over the years

Storm must be in her 40s now and she is wearing a bathing suit? She is the god-mother to the x-men.

Bah! Get off my lawn. Back in my day, X-force was awesome when Cannonball was leading them.

Marvel Comics, I don't understand you.

Tell me about it, the new costumes are so ugly. I need to go back and read old issues of x-force and x-men.

How does Sabertooth gets a cover and not Bishop or even Gambit.

Same reason Blob and Rusty Collins didn't get one, they are lame.

I really wish Marvel would just give us the next generation of X-Men already. There have been some great new mutants introduced over the years. The fact that Marvel acts like they can't use any of them for a new team is just ridiculous. I mean, Psylocke is considered a "newer" X-Man, and she was created almost 30 years ago.

psylocke is considered a "newer" x-man? by who? ive never heard that term tossed around when talking about her

Haven't read an X-book in years.

These covers make me happy about that.

Yea pretty much. Why do some of the costumes from the 80's look more modern than the present?

Oh and these are some of the best artists in comics right now???

I can understand why Jean is there, since she's an original 5 member, even though she's dead. But why the hell is Sabertooth getting a cover? He's dead.

this reminds me of that meme with lyrics to a song misquoted with a picture of a different singer

also rogue one is fugly...almost as bad as the iceman one

Two things:

Storm wins. Amazing stuff.

Beast used to look so fucking awesome before Beauty and the Beast Liono form. Morrison's only fuckup.

I think Beast is one of the few characters whose previous incarnations actually looked better.

Gen 1 Magneto looks... odd. I suppose it is weird of me to assume he should have metal on him of some sort, but that's probably why I prefer all the 90s versions of the x-men, it is what I learned to expect so it is what seems correct.

I myself really liked the brief Revolution Era and Xtreme-X-men costumes.

Great choices. These serve as a reminder to how AWEFUL the current "Green hoodie" era for Rogue has been.

I'm pretty sure the "third" Magneto was featured in the original X-Men volume 1...

Was Magneto featured in another comic first, or is my memory just bad...?
