Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Buy a Brook converter. It's like 35 and allows you to use 360 periphrials (including fightsticks) on Xbox One. Have one that's Xbox 360/Xbox One to PS4 that I use to play Street Fighter V with my 360 stick that works flawless with 0 input lag.

I'd post a link but their site is down for maintenance.

But a driver patch would be 0 :(

You're probably right though.

The only reason I want an Xbox One (S or X) is to play Red Dead Redemption again (in the best possible way) before RDR 2 comes out. I just can't take the plunge to buy a whole console that doesn't interest me (I've played all the Forza's and Gears and Halos I would ever want to play) except for Backward Compatibility. First World Problem right there.

If you can only find one game you wanna play out of the hundreds available on the Xbox one it's not the console that's the problem. There's a lot more than Forza, Gears, and halo.

Damn, was kinda hoping for MGS HD for the 30th anniversary, this is totally fine though, I only own the AE version at this point so I've been waiting for that to finally show up.

Street Fighter IV!
Now i don't remember which version of it i had though. Oh well.

...okay? What do you want us to do? Clap and say "yeah microsoft sucks bro only forza halo and gears what a joke!!!"? Maybe the people who already have the console know this is far from truth so that's why you don't see posts, but it's your money so hey, do whatever you like.

Uhh, okay.

USF4 is finally available.......

Now we need 3rd Strike :)

I can get behind this.
I know we can't use X360 arcade sticks on Xbox One without a converter, but MS did a fix for some BC racing titles to see Xbox One racing wheels as X360 racing wheels. I wonder if they did that for USFIV to work with X1 arcade sticks.

Did they give a date for when Halo 3 and 4 were going to become BC?

They won't ever give you a date for when a game becomes BC. Making these games available require way too many variables for them to definitively be able to tell you an exact date.

Even if they estimated a date, if they missed it by a day it would be a shitstorm.

Does the disc version of Ultra Street Fighter IV work in BC, or only Super SF IV with the Ultra DLC? I don't own either, but I'm planning to go to the game store and need to know if I can just buy the Ultra disc.

Not going to lie...I really want the original Saints Row backwards compatible...however thank you Microsoft for giving us Super Street fighter IV...finally a BC title I will truly enjoy again...thank you

I'm wondering whether to buy the digital versions of ff xiii- and LR, they're on sale at the moment
The problem is, I have the games on my shelf right now.
They aren't multiplayer but for some reason being digital seems cool to me.

Is Deadly Premonition backwards compatible?

No. That's on my short list.

Current wishes:

Blur
Dragon Age 2
Red Faction: Guerilla
Tales of Vesperia
Crackdown
Retro City Rampage: DX
Fez
Simpson's Arcade Game
Costume Quest
Marathon: Durandal
Turtles in Time RS
TMNT 1989 Arcade
Trials Evolution
Worms 2: Armageddon
Deadly Premonition

I wonder if USFIV being available means that Capcom will start giving a shit to Backwards Compatibility and make RE 4 and 5 available too.

Because it is too expensive to buy those again on the Brazilian Xbox Live. And even if it was cheaper, I refuse to pay them again for the same game.

We have products for people who want to play RE4 and 5, they are called RE4 and 5.

Ultra makes me happy, like... really happy.

I never thought it would be added, because I could've sworn that when they revealed USF4 for PS4 they said it would be the only way to play USF4 on a current gen platform. I guess things change... or maybe I'm just misremembering.

They said definite version on console irc, which it is.

I'll have to keep that in mind, thanks. I'd love to be able to use my Fighting Edge or my favorite stick, an HRAP SE with an LS-40 in it on my Xbox One.

Oh, that's probably what it was. Now... if only SSF4 would actually show up in my ready to install list. I mean

C'mon brah! I wanna try out my Xbox One Fight Commander with some Sak in Ultra!
Never mind, a reboot was the key.

edit: Oh this reminds me! I think my 30th (or whatever number it was) anniversary came with a code for AE. I guess I could give it away, but I need to check first (probably expired...)

It would be nice to have all their games available, but to claim they don't give a shit is a little harsh. Just off the top of my head and looking at my own BC library they've so far given us:

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
Capcom Arcade Cabinet
Street Fighter 4 + Super + Ultra DLC
Dark Void
Dead Rising Case Zero/Case West
Duck Tales Remastered
D&D Chronicles of Mystara
Final Fight DI
Mega Man 9+10
Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3

And there might be more. They seem to support the program. Fingers crossed Asura's Wrath will come soon :)

Found one problem with SFIV AE/U, it does not recognize your DLC from the base Street fighter IV game. I installed it on my Xbox 1 separately from the store and the game does not see it. It can only see SFIV AE DLC in the ready to install section.

No biggie, it's just some costumes though.

I really don't have a problem with Capcom wanting people to buy their current gen ports instead of allowing those games to be BC. RE6 was kind of garbage on last gen consoles but it's so much more fun to play at 60fps, IMO it's transformative especially in Mercenaries mode. Capcom's ports are very reasonably priced too, it's not like they're charging £50 for them like Nintendo.

I think the reason Capcom hasn't done more is simply because almost every major title has received native XB1 ports and they want you to buy those before going all in on BC.

We've gotten:

Resident Evil 4/5/6
DMC4: SE
DmC: DE
Dead Rising 1/2/OTR
Dragon's Dogma
UMvC3
Plus some cross gen ports (REmake HD, RE0 HD, Strider, etc.)
RE: Revelations coming soon

I think it's good most of their BC focus has been on games with little chance of a native port or mostly their XBLA offerings.

Oops sorry I wasn't intending it to sound I was down on Xbox - I have a PC and a PS4 - so I can play almost everything already. I was only really saying hey I want to play RDR again on Xbox One - isn't that absurd. I would be buying one only to play RDR - I wasn't saying it only had one game I wanted to play. I was talking myself out if by mentioning the Halos and the Forzas lol

Played some BC Street Fighter last night. Seems to play and run very well as long as you stay in-game. However, I was able to get it to lock up by pulling up the X1 guide in-between rounds (probably during loading). Had to quit to dashboard and start over. I pulled up the guide again at the title screen and it started hitching like it was going to freeze again but recovered. I just avoided pulling up the guide after that. This doesn't bother me much but still wanted to share.

Most BC games get a patch update shortly after becoming BC. I m sure this is to be fixed soon. I still haven't tried it out yet. Had it downloading last night before I went to bed. But glad to know that it runs great aside from this issue.

i bought sonic unleashed and sonic generations on the offchance they'll hit BC sometime. they're currently 50% off.

can't remember the last time unleashed went on sale.

Hmmmm interesting.

Installed Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition digitally (I got it from Games with Gold) - 9.4GB.

Installed Ultra Street Fighter IV from disc - which shows as Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition - 10.5GB.

I had both installed so had two SSFIVAEs installed of different sizes. DLC was shared - when I deleted the DLC from one it was gone from the other.

Ah, also, Ultra SFIV (disc install) won't launch without the disc. It doesn't seem to pair with the SSFIVAE from GwG despite showing up as the same title.

This happens on 360 as well. There multiple version of the same games sometimes. They even allow you to purchase the game twice.

But what's the extra GB? Why not view the disc as Super Street Fighter IV AE and bundle the DLC as a separate install?

Seems odd to not label the disc as USFIV.

Only difference I can tell so far:
USFIV disc install has the Ultra intro video and Ultra title screen.
(USFIV disc install has the new Adobe Scaleform logo during the publisher logos too, not the old blue and grey one)
Ken had 3 costumes in SSFIVAE, Ryu 3 too. 28 stages.
Ken had 6 costumes in USFIV, Ryu 6 too. 28 stages.

It seems Alternate Costumes 1-3 are missing - they are on the Ultra disc.

Basically, it looks like loads of the costume DLC was included on the Ultra disc - which you get if you install from the disc but you can therefore only run from the disc.
