Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

While it doesn't seem to be exactly faithful to the original it still seems not too bad to me. Especially if you want to experience it with the xbox one features or maybe try out a game for first time like I will with DEUS EX.

The game got a lot of lightning issue where it's like saturated, here an example with the Pillar of Autumn, the texture is completely white because of the lightning: http://xboxclips.com/AceParty/e6299d35-863a-4f70-a5a0-c925ab3fa347

I also took a lot of videos and screenshots here: http://xboxclips.com/aceparty of the Xbox One version as I played it a lot already (MP, FF, forge etc.) Honestly got a lot of FPS issue at the first start then I power cycle the console and the game is really running fine now I mean nothing that does not allow me to play correctly in MP or FF.
I’m pretty satisfied but they need to patch in the future this lightning problem that are in multiple levels.

Anyway it's really an amazing pleasure to come back on this game, I was inheritor and I still having so much fun in MP more than H5 actually.

Maybe it would have been better to limit BC to Arcade games.

I do think they will improve Reach, but why even release it in the first place. I wan't to play a game how it was released (or better), but not worry about if I'm playing an "inferior" version. Games not running 1:1 as on the 360 (at least 98%) makes the BC feature useless to me because I have to keep my 360 hooked up to play a game how it was intended to experienced.

Because it doesn't bother some people.
And those it does bother can choose not to play it.

Offering Backwards Compatibility was such a genius idea by MS, too bad the execution has been a fucking mess since day one. Personally, I won't buy a freaking game until I can buy it directly from my XB1. I don't get how something as simple as that can be so damn difficult to implement.

It's coming but I agree I don't see why it's taking so long either, all they have to do is generate a code for said game > automatically redeem it and the system currently in place will do the rest... Seems super simple to me :/

It's been real fun playing hydro thunder again, my save was not on the cloud so i've been having fun racing and collecting all the tokens again, it runs rather well on xbox one also one of the better emulated titles out of the bunch.

This somehow reminds me of

Oh well, guess I will just play PS4 and rebuy an Xbox One for Encore and patched BC in a couple of years. I'm quiet now :)

I think this is the biggest problem yeah, but I think they could've done this thing a whole lot worse than they have been doing.

They seem to update titles still. Banjo n&b just got an update and the framerate, while still a bit worse than 360, is improved by quite a bit. I saw no drops at all now during levels

I've played Reach yesterday and it wasn't as bad as i was expecting, a few glitches with sound and not quite as smooth as i remember but it's a great game imo.

BC is amazing, not perfect but if someone had said the at the start of this year that you will be able to play XB360 games on your XB1 most people especially the experts on here would have ripped you to bits. Who would have thought you could run 360 game on a low powered Jaguar chip and just how you can switch back to XB1 mode with it still running in the background. Just shows knowledge is more power in this case, it does seem to me that some people do not realise what has been achieved with BC, it is the most impressive thing in gaming this year for me.

I assume you can buy it from Xbox.com on your browser on your Xbox One. Sounds like another excuse for something you were never going to buy anyway.

so it seems The Missing Link DLC isn't showing up for Deus Ex. Which is the thing I needed to finish (got screwed on an achievement where I did everything right but it bugged)

anyone know what's up with this?

word. this is the most idiotic reason for not getting a game that I've heard. "Oh I can't be arsed to go open a web browser for 30 seconds to play a 50 hour game"

I just started Halo Reach and there was an almost 1 gig update.

Now the game is vastly improved.

I do feel there is a slight input lag however the multiplayer portion is running quiet well.

Nice if they fixed it somewhat.
I might try BTB, I like it in Halo 5.

I wish they gave us the map packs as an xmas present though.

Hmm I'll have to check it out again then.

*Edit*

Yup just repalyed the first level and it ran noticeably smoother. Still not as smooth as it was on 360 but a lot more playable I think.

Reach's framerate is still a bit ropey online, and good god it's jaggy!
BTB is ace though, carnage, so many vehicles.

So something odd happened to me in the Xbox App on Windows 10. I have always wondered why we could not have time played for back compat games as a hero stat. I understand not having other stats but why not time played.

I recently saw Reach in my recently played games in the app and I clicked on it because I should have 95% of the achievements unlocked but it was showing as zero. When I do click it for about 10 seconds it shows that I played the game for 3 minutes. Which was accurate as I just fired it up over the weekend to check the title screen. But then it flashes to "nothing to show here"

I grabbed a quick photo of it... I sure would like it to track time played and have no idea why it could not and this shows evidence that they are tracking time played on BC games. So maybe there is some hope??

To go along with this, I saw someone mention that Ms has "soft launched" the ability to purchase 360 titles in the XB1 store in HK currently. Any truth to this?

Seems the functionality for hero stats and native sales are present and it's just a matter of official implementation. Good stuff.

There are actually 2 products listed in the Xbox live databases, one which is the actual 360 game itself, this is where you achievements actually track and unlock.

Then there is the Xbox one Live "wrapper" which is what your Xbox One is running. These wrappers shouldn't appear, but sometimes they show as a separate title that you have played, they always show as 0/0 achievements. This separate product ID is used to track playtime and sort screenshots and create a game hub/store page in the Xbox One/Threshold environment. When they launch new titles, sometimes the 2 product codes become separated, but usually they get merged and it just looks like 1 game.

If you look in your achievements, you'll see a 2nd Halo reach, with a small low res box art, instead of the high res square Xbox one BC tile.

what are the chances of getting The Force Unsleahses games on BC? I'm tempted to buy them while discounted
Anyone's guess. With the Star Wars license now with Disney I'm not sure Activision releasing Force Unleashed again will cause issues with licensing. Then again, the Lego Star Wars Complete Saga game is in BC now which is not Disney's so it could be Force Unleashed is added to. Activision is on board for BC so that can't be the issue.

EDIT: Looks like muzzymate answered your question in a better way.

They are amongst some of the earliest titles I saw being tested, but this may have been because they were very CPU intensive games?
Most of the games I saw early on have already shown up

So basically the information is there but not meant to be seen? I hope they turn on time played at least.. makes sense to me. Thanks for the info, explains what I saw!

yes, particularly if you are looking at it on Windows 10. You can look at a page like that for almost any game, BC or not.
