Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

So, Reach performs rather poorly with some weird shadowing artifacts on the characters themselves in my experience. Thought this would suffice for my Reach thirst but not in this current state.

343i, please remaster the Reach campaign like you did with ODST and add it to the MCC.

A reach remake isn't so simple. Unlike odst, they would need to remaster the campaign AND the multiplayer, too. Then there's the fact that Reach is running on different tech than halo 3, an issue that ODST didn't have. Last, Reach is the least important game in the main halo series as of now. Even odst is more important as it introduces characters that later play a big role in Halo 5.

I think that the Reach remaster ship has sailed already.
Got excited reading that Halo Wars 2 was ready, apparently it's not. Hurry up Microsoft!
That's not coming out till the end of the year

MS wrote the release like that on purpose and you know it. They made sure to be ambiguous and unclear but allude to December only.

Seriously? I never once thought that's what they were saying. Didn't see it that way at all.

Don't understand how it's unclear or ambiguous, I mean...they could've been super ambiguous if they really wanted to, this just seems like people speed-reading..

It's clear as day when reading it in proper English, but not many actually read it like that, they just sort of.. read it, I can't explain it lol. It's not unclear but they definitely knew what they were doing to make people think it'd be December without actually hinting as much.

But yeah it's not really on MS if people don't read what they're writing properly, it's not like the TR Exclusively holiday 2015 which could mean a bazillion things. Compared to other MS PR this is a godsend.

People who are confused about these things either find themselves having difficulty reading between the lines or just have general comprehension issues. the TR holiday thing was obvious: MS has the game for holiday 2015 and it will appear elsewhere eventually.

Same with the December BC announcement. It was a two parter: one, that every month they will release another batch of games to the BC program and two, here are some games that we will bring to BC eventually.

Some folks just ended up reading that as ALL THESE GAMES ARE COMING IN DECEMBER which is never what anyone actually said.

"Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December. More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3. Stay tuned because this just the beginning of a long list of Xbox 360 games that will run on Xbox One."

Like....how the fuck do you read that as these games are coming in December?

Seriously, I cannot believe the amount of people who thought it and blame MS.

Musta missed that period right after December maybe?

Musta missed that period right after December maybe?

no? because that wouldn't work as a sentence with that period. They mentioned December and they mentioned new games. Considering it seemed like it would be a similar amount of games each month, there was little concern at LEAST those games would be coming, plus many more.

so it seems The Missing Link DLC isn't showing up for Deus Ex. Which is the thing I needed to finish (got screwed on an achievement where I did everything right but it bugged)

Ha!

As soon as I read it, the first thing that popped into my mind was "it even rained the day I was born", lol.

Do you think that Halo Wars (when it arrives) is going to have performance issues like Halo Reach seems to have? I feel like it shouldn't, but I remember in big 3v3 battles it would get kind of choppy on the 360.

Any Deus Ex: HR impressions? I tried Reach and the performance is pretty awful.
Runs as well as X360 from what I played in the opening gameplay. Couldn't say if it has issues later, though.
Is there any hope of Microsoft improving Reach emulation performance in the future?

Absolutely, but until they do, we'll be left wondering. They did update Gears games and Mass Effect as well as N+ and others. All saw improvements in performance and bugs fixed.

What's with the crazy bad controller input lag on every game?! I've played backwards compatability with dirt 3, gears of war and now deus ex human revolution.

They all have really bad controller input lag which makes it really hard to play. Anyone else getting this?! It's not my TV as my xbox one controller lag is none existent.

I havent had any problems at all in Ikaruga or Just Cause 2, also all of the Rare Replay games worked great for me.

Yup all rare replay games are absolutely fine for me. Playing through conker bad fur day and it's as responsive as any other game I have on xbone. But I've only tried those 360 games above with official xbox backwards compatability by using my discs and I can barely play them because of the input lag is so bad. Weird.

The only games I truly care about are Dark Souls and Tales of Vesperia, and of course they're not in this release and probably won't be until the very end likely.

Reach and Duex Ex are pretty good high profile titles but just not my cup of tea. The rest is just standard arcade garbage which will likely make up the majority of every months releases instead of retail games.

There is at least one or two frames of delay purely from emulation, that will never go away, anything on top of that is due to forced vsync and/or dropped frames in the emulation, depends on how bad the game is running.

All this games have input lag for me too. It isnt just you.

Just wait until you get to anything that requires aiming and shooting in conkers. Other then that its solid. As far as bc goes, ive played fallout 3, fable 3, reach and dirt 3. Only experienced issues with reach and fable. I did however notice that reach was far more stable later in the night when I was experiencing less issues with xbox live. Still some framerate issues but it was playable for me. Fable 3 wouldn't even load when xbox live was half down yesterday. It loaded later in the night, synced my save no problem but it, like reach, definitely has few wrinkles that need to be ironed out. That being said i wouldn't say any of the games were unplayable.

Does playing the games from an external help with the input lag or the framerate?
I've moved all my BC retail type games but haven't tried them yet, apart from Reach which seemed ok.

no because the issues are related to the emulation, not how the XB1 handles the data. There isn't a fast enough hard drive that will undo the issues with framerates and input lag

Is Reach that bad? It's the one campaign I haven't played :(

As someone who defended the games framerate on retail 360 I can say it's pretty damn awful. Normally framerate doesn't bother me but the emulated version's does. I'd say it regularly drops into the teens and twenties. I'm sure MS will eventually get it running better but yea it's bad right now.

anyone have a spare code for GoW 2 and judgment?, those are the only two i dont have, and i want to play hordes with my friends, thanks!!

I really hope battlefield 3 gets the BC. So much better than BF4, that I'm thinking getting my 360 back to just play the campaign.

Bad Company would be even better... but so far i would be more worried about the performance...

So far a lot of games suffer of worse framerate and input lag. No matter how good the game was on 360, it will never play the same on XboxOne

If dust AET does come out I wonder if they can fix the random crashes, it's very hard to play a complete start to end run on 360 without the game giving up the ghost somewhere in the middle.

I believe noogy was going to submit an update for it.. but never did?

Yeah the shooting parts are weird but it doesn't feel like controller input delay rather than loose controls in general within the game. But yeah mass effect feels fine too. It just seems to be those games I've mentioned above. I was really looking forward to deus ex human revolution on backwards compatability as well as it'd one of my favourites of all time but the lag is so bad I'm really finding it hard to enjoy it.

Maybe it would have been better to limit BC to Arcade games.

I do think they will improve Reach, but why even release it in the first place. I wan't to play a game how it was released (or better), but not worry about if I'm playing an "inferior" version. Games not running 1:1 as on the 360 (at least 98%) makes the BC feature useless to me because I have to keep my 360 hooked up to play a game how it was intended to experienced.

then play your 360. BC is good for people who either sold their 360 or never had one.
