Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I'm a little confused about disk vs download.

When it's released on BC, I want to play Halo Reach again.

Obviously the disk is much cheaper at this point.

Can I buy a used copy from Amazon, insert into Juan, and it will download? Do I need the disk to play from then on?

I was ready to play some NBA Jam or Pacman DX, but sadly those are not available yet even on the Preview NXOE :-(

NBA JAM!!

Yeah, I can't wait to play both. The instant features of the Xbox One will make them so much easier to play. I've also been dying to play an arcade basketball game so NBA Jam will help with that (even if the rosters are outdated).

Can't wait for Skate 3 to go up. That with the Elite controller is going to feel like a new game.

BC disc games work just like native XBO disc games.

The actual game resides entirely on the system hard drive. The disc is simply used to validate the license at startup.

Question: can I import my saves from the 360? No way I start from scratch for a multitude of them

Copy or move your saves to the cloud from your 360 and your Xbox One will find them when you load them up

Doesn't work for Super Meat Boy and Gears of War made me move them not copy but outside of that I don't recall many issues

This is the one lol

Brilliant!

This is my favourite so far.

I think we have a winner here folks.

10/10. Love it.

So all the games will be available in approx 16 minutes right? About to head to bed but might set up a few to install first.

edit: bah j/k - I see it's 12PM, not 12AM. Damn.

Didn't they pull rosters from the servers? Are those still up?

So I take it you still can't use XBox Credit and have to use an actual credit/debit card to purchase any backward compatible games on the store?

Hello everyone,

How can I find the game available in the backwards compatibility directly on the marketplace of my One ?

Thanks

This may have been asked and answered a million times already, so apologies in advance.

For the BC titles, will we also be able to download the demos, as we can on 360?

so, no Rockstar titles?

After Activision recently signed on board with Microsoft to allow their Xbox 360 titles to be backwards compatible it only left one real big AAA publisher to allow backwards compatibility. So far EA, Activision, SEGA, Deep Silver, 2K, Square Enix, Ubisoft, and Bethesda, along with others are allowing their games to be backwards compatible for the Xbox One.

Rockstar Games have currently not agreed with Microsoft to allow their games to be backwards compatible for the Xbox One. This means such games won’t be possible to play on Xbox One as of yet.

what yall buying/playing for the first wave?

for me:

Mirrors Edge
Streets of Rage Package
Sonic CD
Beyond Good and Evil HD
Gears of War 3

Never played gears judgement so i'll give that a go, need to finish up the console version of dirt 3 (own it for pc and 360 on disc) but first I want to play some monday night combat, amazing game.

I'm hoping out for Every Extend Extra Extreme. They put in Lumines Live so there's some hope but...man, E4 was my shit back in the day. Loved that game.

Maybe i can get some clarification. With Gears of wars remastered do you get the 4 games for free? Or the ability to play the games only if you bought gow remastered?

To follow up on the bolded, if a game is available for BC, there is only one thing in the world stopping you from playing the game:

Whether or not you own the game.

There are never going to be any artificial restrictions. I.E. the thought that a game would only be available as a BC title to select people (i.e. to people who played Gears Remastered) is ludicrous.

I just downloaded fable 2, one of my favorite 360 games. I had a physical copy that broke years ago, before I knew we shouldnt be standing our 360's on their sides. Any way cant wait to play it again!

So got the new update installed etc, does anyone know how to get 360 Arcade titles downloaded to the Xbone?

Want to get Shadow Complex downloaded to see how I can access my old 360 digital games...

If it doesn't show up in the store and you don't have a disc how do you get it?

You find them in the "ready to install" list that appears on the right, in "my games and apps".

Thanks. I don't seem to have a 'Ready to Install' list, just 'Find more in the Xbox Store'

I should note I'm not in the preview, this is the real NXE update that just happened

BC games aren't active yet, 3pm eastern time you will begin to see them provided you own some of the compatible games.
