Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Not sure if this has been asked:

For the games that allow you to play the previous 360 iterations (fallout 3, gears) do you just need to have the new game to play? For instance I read somewhere that you need to play Gears of War: Remastered by a certain date to have access to the older games. Does that mean you get them like a games for gold download for free? Or do you need to still keep the Gears Remastered disk in order to play the 360 versions, as if you actually had the original game disks?

(Does that make sense)

Pretty sure we'll just be able to download all the old Gears 360 versions in our games library once they're granted to our account. They won't need the Remastered disk as far as I'm aware.

Anyone know when they will be granted to our accounts?

Edit - just seen it's December 1st, fair enough.

In the case of Gears, if you play by December 1st and it's been on your played list before then, you will be receiving a Xbox Live message with codes for all four Xbox 360 games. So it won't be tied to the disc or anything, they will be digital versions!

So I got the Fallout 3 DL code with my copy of Fallout 4. If I had all of the previous DLC downloaded onto my 360 (not via a game of the year addition) I should be able to DL that from the marketplace onto the XB1 and apply it to the digital version, right?

Yes!

I have a question that I still haven't seen clearly answered (and if it has been, I'm sorry... I've searched):

If I didn't own a 360, now own an Xbox One and want to purchase some BC games (namely Shadow Complex), can I do so through the web store and they'll be waiting for me on the right side of My Games and Apps screen?

Yes. In a couple more hours.

Yes. You won't be able to claim 360 Games With Gold if you never had a 360 though.

If I go and buy the fallout 3 goty edition, will I be able to install the dlc on my xb1?

The way DLC is handled is still up in the air, some games will show DLC as an optional install if you look at the game install inside games&apps, some games seem to give you all the DLC for free (borderlands 1) most likely because there was no real way to apply them seperately at the time.

How Fallout 3 will handle it is still up in the air.

Just over 3 hours until my xbox hard drive finally runs out of space :P

Other than the games already in preview and rare replay, what will be the first one you try out?

Either Just Cause 2

Or co op Phantom Breakers. Actually, I always meant to 100% Phantom Breakers, but I don't remember if you have to buy that character from Stiens;Gate for any of the achievements.

I can finally play the sealed copy of Gears of War Judgement I picked up for cheap a few months ago. Might as well play the entire series again if I'm feeling like it hehe.

I know I am really wondering about this. I have all the DLC except Operation Anchorage and have no interest in that but would take it if it comes free. I own all the rest and never played through any of them but Mothership Zeta which SUCKED!

I have heard good things about the rest of the packs though and want to check them out once I get tired of FO4

Do your xbox 360 games save to the hardrive? I've only heard the cloud mentioned. I don't want to save to the cloud.

saves only work using cloud saves...but they sync to the xbox so local storage...all games have to be downloaded from microsoft's servers be they disk or digital

Fuck, I wonder how badly the servers are gonna get hammered with everyone downloading their 360 games at the same time.

I just wanna play some Gears 3 horde mode!

I want to buy some of these titles digitally.

Any other place to purchase Fable 2 or Condemned besides the Xbox marketplace ...?
I'm not seeing any buyable codes on eBay, so I'm concerned the answer is "No."

Well shit. Definitely going to stick with playing games on my 360 then.

What's wrong with cloud storage for your saves? It's not like your credit card numbers or other personal information is there, and if you're offline, the local copy of your data will work.

Microsoft's implementation of cloud saves is first-rate and I'm super happy with it.

True and it's pretty much unlimited save storage as well...

Just checked the My Games and Apps section and all my digital 360 games appeared a moment ago. Installing them now. Looking forward to some pac-man ce dx soon
