Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

When a game is updated, there is a star symbol in the lower left corner of the game icon.

The star has been gone since NXOE sadly. Only way to see right now is to sort in games and apps by Recently Updated. Hope they add it back soon, as well as hiding uninstalled demos/betas.

After playing the lackluster new Amplitude game, I'm really hoping Harmonix allows Rock Band Blitz to be included in the BC program.

Anyone help with a question? Might have been covered, but I couldn't see anything.

I never set up cloud saves onyou xbox 360, but sometimes when I play a game on BC my old save from when I played it last on the 360 is there automatically with no user interaction, but other games there are no save.

Why is this, and how can I force the old save game from my 360 to appear on the games that don't do it automatically?

Some games used to save directly on the gamertag (which is why the profile data became bigger and bigger, as you could check in the storage on X360).

Just played a bit of Halo Reach and man several updates made it near perfect. I experience no input lag. It's looking great and maybe better than on 360 when I played it years ago.

Glad to see Microsoft is still improving the emulation, it's gonna be great in next several months. Hope this week we will see more BC titles announced.

Would be interesting if they really have to optimize for each game or if they are just optimzing the emulator in general so all future games will run better out of the box.

Installing all of my Xbox 360 titles that are compatible onto my Xbox One.
Will probably motivate me to finish some of them without the problem of having to hook up the old 360.

I also had an odd situation. My gears 3 save was corrupted, never bothered going back to get back to where I was. Loaded it up on the XB1 and my progress was there.

Reach is the only game on my list showing the a different BC build dated January

it's now on 1601 40712

Cool. They probably don't push the emulator build to all games. Just ones they think need it.

Been playing Dirt 3, that game grinds to a half in certain places and it seems like the controls get a little finicky. Anyone notice this?

I imagine that like other emulators certain builds perform better with certain titles, so perhaps that is a more recent build which is due to come with titles in January.

Some of the very first games haven't been updated since october or november, so perhaps that have decided that the stability is good enough. Reach has attracted attention for it's performance, so it makes sense to kick out a better version that performs better

I bought up the control issue back when it came out for BC, the issue is that the graph for the xbox one sticks range between 0 and 100 is different to 360, the xbox one sticks max out faster. It's enough to screw up car control in a game like dirt, you can reach full lock with about 60% stick movement compared to say 80-90 on xbox 360.

If it's not that then it has to be the way the emulator is taking inputs and converting it, but it's too sensative in BC titles.

Yeah I think that the Xbone and the 360 have different sensitivity profiles, some people claimed that Tomb Raider on the Xbone has lots of "input lag" for the camera vs the Xbox 360 version, I set my Elite pad to "instant" for the stick profile and you can see that there is no significant lag.

Based Spencer/MS.

I think this was the final push to finally accept my inevitable Xbox One purchase. That and Halo 5 of course. Keep that list coming!

I got an update yesterday, along with Gears 3.

Maybe I'm spoiled with Halo 5 rock solid 60 fps, but it seems like it runs really bad. I don't remember it being this bad, is it nostalgia?

Yes, it is. It ran poorly on 360. Of course not as bad as the first released Bc version, but it was cranky on native hw.

Yeah Reach is significantly improved. Played firefight on Overlook for the same amount of rounds as I did pre-patch and did not encounter any situations with single digit frame-rate or audio crackling like I did before.

Still feels a bit stuttery to me but coming off Halo 5 I don't think I could tell if that's just 30fps or not. Reach never felt as smooth to me as 3 did.

Have they released any patches to fix reach as of yet? Holding off from installing and playing since I've heard it runs like garbage.

EDIT: Guess there was a patch. Is it a consistent 30?

Yep, that sounds about right. I have a hard time making gradual adjustments.

Sorry if this has been asked before - but I've added Xbox credit to my Xbox one - but can't use that to purchase 360 BC titles through store.xbox.com - it will only ask me to pay by CC. Am I doing something wrong here or is this just Microsoft completely separating the two stores??

That's Microsoft being Microsoft. You have to wait until they integrate the 360 store with the X1 one, then you will be able to.

Separate stores!
Hurray!
It's dumb but I imagine Microsoft will try and change that eventually.

It's two entirely different versions of xbox live, store credit is something they never properly sorted out and xbox.com doesn't allow you to use store credit, so if you want to use it up, you need to purchase it on an actual 360.

Reach wasn't 30fps locked on 360, it was into the low 20s frequently. A lot of the classic 360 and PS3 titles manage nowhere near 30fps native sadly.

It's playable as it was on 360 with latest patch, more or less.

I just booted up the level I tried when it first came out, it's noticeably better, probably good enough for lots of people to enjoy, but not quite as good as it runs on 360

Gears 3 and reach just popped into my newly updated games, had a quick go. Feels good, are they going to do different emus for different games?

Gears 3 must run almost perfect now, right? Never played the originsl but it runs good now

Tried 3 multimatches and i did spot only one instance where it briefly dropped from 30 to perhaps 25 for a second

Probably only when the internet kicks up a stink.

Only played sp, but it was the section on the ship with the fire and it seemed as good/better(?) than the original. I retired the 360 so I'll have to take it from the mothballs to see it's improved!

It had the lowest average framerate of the series (ignoring H4 360's very rough splitscreen), easily. Nostalgia is probably part of it, but I also think the fact that all 6 of the other core Halo games run at 60fps on Xbox One doesn't help.

I'm going to play the original this evening to check it out, I still have the 360 plugged in the same TV but the controller and clunky dashboard make the X1 better for me (if they fix the emulation).

Do many people play still?
If you have the DLC no, sadly. I had to delete it and now can find games easily in TDM and S&D, haven't tried other modes.
