Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Just applied the Reach patch. It's certainly better than before, though still chuggy enough (audio popping too) for the 360 to remain on top in the entertainment unit. :/ I applaud MS's efforts, tho Reach really deserves a proper, 60fps remaster that we pay for. If you're reading Microsoft, don't forget the Firefight (offline is better than not at all. ;)

Reach wasn't 30fps locked on 360, it was into the low 20s frequently. A lot of the classic 360 and PS3 titles manage nowhere near 30fps native sadly.

It's playable as it was on 360 with latest patch, more or less.

Out of interest, is there a (well-maintained) backwards compatability chart out there which details which games run on par with the 360 (or even better, in principle, but... yeah)?

Soo...now that I'm back in town I'm going to start working on a DF piece covering backwards compatibility. I already have some games in mind but I wanted to see if anyone had some potentially interesting requests for comparison!

I'd be very interested in seeing Mass Effect again. Keep seeing it pop up in the "recently updated" feed but haven't had the time to see if it has had any significant improvements.

UK GAF here - did they pull Soul Calibur II HD from the PAL BC list?
I grabbed it in the Xmas sale but it stubbornly refuses to show up in my 'Ready To Install' list

Running through Gears 3 for the first time at the moment. A few hitches here and there but still a fantastic experience. Loving the campaign.

Halo Reach? Also it would be great if you would do a DF piece on PS2 games on PS4 for each game released since they are releasing them so slowly.

Halo Reach for sure.

Also the Gears of War games and Hydro Thunder.

I'd like one of Shadow Complex. On XB1 I got some single digit framedrops later on in the game, but I don't remember how well it ran on 360.

Halo Reach and Hydro Thunder are certain. I'm going to do Gears but I'm not sure I'll have time to do all four games. Is there a specific one you guys would like to see? I'm leaning towards Gears 3 since it represents the last big iteration of UE3 on the platform.

It mentions Geometry Wars 2 in the OP list but its not available for my XBone UK region.

Also the streets of rage titles are on different lines in the OP, but they should be listed as one pack. I have streets of rage 2 but not the bundle so can still only play that on my XB360.

Gears 3 and Judgment are the ones that really have struggled on the xb1. Gears 3 seems to be more popular due to being the last gears game to have real gears mulitplayer in it but Judgment was pretty rough the last time i played it, prior to the updates that rolled out this week

From your post to Phil Spencer's ears.

I know Reach doesn't star 117 (nor did ODST so...), but I would still love to see a 60fps version added to MCC. I own Reach on disk, but would gladly shell out $20 to play it with super smooth frame rates using my lovely Elite.

ODST made sense for several reason: They already had done the work at getting their Halo 3 tech running on the XB1 with Halo 3, ODST doesn't have a MP component that also requires remastering (Reach does), and ODST has direct ties to Halo 5, meaning it would be a good move to have it on the same machine as Halo 5.

Reach is great, it's my favorite halo campaign (i haven't played H4 or H5 to be fair) but you can completely miss the game and still be fine with regards to the mainline halo games. I can see why they didn't bother with it after the fiasco that was TMCC at launch and feel that at least putting the 360 version on the XB1 was a decent compromise.

now if only they made the map packs free/dirt cheap so that people can get matches on those maps. I only get machines in vanilla and feel like im not getting my money's worth at all

IIRC, GW2 was in the Beta but didn't make it to release. I've not really heard any suggestions as to why.

GW1 was in the beta, GW2 AFAIK has never been part of the BC program.

Last i played of GW1, it's nearly unplayable due to input lag. I can't even play it now unless i disconnect from the internet because GW1 isn't part of the official BC list

And to introduce Buck from ODST to Halo 5 players.

I say Gears3. even after two updates I still feel like I'm getting controller lag when trying to play MP.

I'd love it if you did an ongoing series updating as they release updates of the emulator.

Could you post or link your list again?

Here is a list of things that hadn't been announced that I think are likely candidates. There are a few errors on here, duplicates and whatnot

and for reference, here was my prediction for games that I thought were coming, the white ones were all the ones that hadn't been found or confirmed. A lot of them are BC now.

Thanks. I can't wait to see which games will be bc next. Hopefully one of the Batman games will make it this month.

Is that most recent list? Thought you mentioned Fora Horizon a few days ago?

I haven't added that in, I've posted quite a few lists. I wasn't quite as confident about the sources I had found, but as time has gone by it's become clearer that they were.

Here was another list from September.
There were a few others like Dark Souls and Lollipop chainsaw which might not be on the list, but I saw very early on.

im still noticing a little bit of input lag with SMB which is kind of a bummer since you need to be damn near pixel perfect to make it through some of those stages. I'm adjusting to it but it's just noticeable enough to cost me jumps here and there

I love this feature so much. I gamed on ps3 so even games I played before I can rebuy and play on this. Cough red dead cough

The best part is they pretty much work like xboxone games. It doesn't feel like I'm going back a generation and it doesn't require a separate box. Everything works so seamlessly.
