Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

So much for the title, i've been spending a lot of my time time on Reach and Dirt Showdown lately, i think the graphics look great on some of the courses in Dirt and its a fun game once you get into it.

im still noticing a little bit of input lag with SMB which is kind of a bummer since you need to be damn near pixel perfect to make it through some of those stages. I'm adjusting to it but it's just noticeable enough to cost me jumps here and there

I didn't have a problem... Finished it with all the bandages, some of those jumps would surely be impossible with input lag.

I do wonder how much additional input lag is generated by the emulator and how much additional input lag is really "display lag" due to systems being connected via HDMI to an unoptimized setup.

At the beginning of the 360 generation, games were being output via composite (480i) and component (480p and 720p for the most part) over analog connections to CRT TVs. While those systems later were outputting at 1080p over analog component and HDMI, the games weren't really designed to account for display lag. Current gen games account for it.

well in my case my system is set to game mode with no frame delay so i know it's not my display, I played regular XB1 games, PC games, PS4 games, Wiiu games and i have zero sense of input lag like i do with most of my emulated 360 games.

It's documented stuff that the emu is having input lag issues. I'm still feeling it in SMB but it's definitely gotten better in GOW3 and Reach. I suppose its just that since SMB is a much more precise game it sticks out more

SMB? Super Mario Bros? j/k

Seriously tho, what does SMB stand for?

Guys I need your help I have the digital and physical copy of Reach on my 360 but I don't see the game on the ready to install section on my One, what can I do?

Are you sure you own the digital copy on that account? It should be listed. I'd check your xbox live profile on account.xbox.com and look through your purchase history.

Otherwise if you own the disc version just pop that in and install.

Soo...now that I'm back in town I'm going to start working on a DF piece covering backwards compatibility. I already have some games in mind but I wanted to see if anyone had some potentially interesting requests for comparison!

Gears and Mass Effect for sure. If you do Mass Effect again, see what the difference is when you disable motion blur and film grain.

I think some of the unreal engine games would be useful to compare, especially as many of them are running different builds.

Let me know you you need to know what version anything is running

Pac-Man CE DX. I think the game is probably perfect but I'm curious about input lag. I could swear I do a little better playing on a real 360. Yeah, I know you preload turns to cut corners, but there are still situations where you have to make a split-second turn.

I might have to try it again, I played through it when the emulator first came to preview... Could be a different version?

As you say you need precise controls in SMB, I cannot see how I could have got the bandages and finish the game with input lag.

Not saying you are bullshitting, but my experience was all good

Input latency comparisons would be appreciated since there's quite a bit of variance in user experiences reported in these threads.

Can you take a look at Gears of War: Judgment?

I just booted it up last night and it felt like it was running like total shit. Input lag out the wahzoo.

A 360/One comparison of Gears 3 multiplayer would be interesting. The emulated version seems to run very poorly with input lag and a low frame rate/frame drops.

Man I think I have beaten SotN on 5 different platforms now. I really hope that it comes to Bc so that I can play through it again on XB1.

isn't the 360 version considered not so hot? I know that the saturn version isn't great but I'm pretty sure that the PSX and PSP version are still better than SOTN HD as they aren't nearly as compressed and missing as many things as the 360 version is.

The music is a bit compressed, but the 360 version has Achievements that actually encourage you to do some of the side things. The reason it was missing stuff is they had to keep the filesize down back then, but that doesn't make the game not fantastic.

Me, I played through SOTN on 360 and then bought the Japanese 360 version and played through it for the stackable Achievements. Had a blast.

Since EA announced Origin Access I bet the games which are also available for the 360 will be made backward compatible.

That would be...

Battlefield 3
Dead Space 1-3
Dragon Age Origins
Dragon Age 2
Sims 3

I really hope for Dead Space, always wanted to play this game.

I've been playing a lot of PM CE DX+ lately on my X1. My save file on the cloud got corrupted about a year ago and I lost everything. Now, I'm trying to beat my old records. It's not easy, since I was around #200 overall on the leaderboards at the time I lost my save. But having completed a full-lap Ghost Combo on Highway a few nights ago, I can say I haven't noticed any lag. I'm using HDMI on a 10-year-old Sony TV that has never lagged at all through any type of connection except composite (but who uses that anyway?). I have used an HRAP EX-SA with a Brook X360 -> X1 adapter, but since the D-Pad is not garbage now I've also been using the standard wireless controller, and I still don't notice any lag.

I may go back to 360 soon just to see I feel any kind of difference, but overall I'm very impressed with the BC. Crazy Taxi did not run well but everything else I've tried has been great. It's another reason why my PS4 has just been collecting dust, and will continue to do so until SFV comes out.

ok, so I've just found a really hidden version of Bioshock 2.

I'm seeing some more activity on Dark Souls.

Burnout Crash, Sam n Max season 1/2, Katamari , Left4Dead 2 and the Soul Calibur games seem to be getting a lot of love all of a sudden also.
