Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I have not used BC a lot on past systems, but for some reason I find myself using it a lot on XB1. I think it's because many 360 games are really very good and still relevant as games, and are graphically at least "good enough."

is there a top 20 list or like it for the best XBLA games? i recently got a 360 and want to catch up.

As a PS4 owner, BC is the one xbone feature I'm truly jealous of. I play a lot of PS3 and PS2 games, and not having to juggle consoles would be awesome. However I'm probably not typical.

I love the BC on my X1 and wish Sony would have allowed it on PS4 without charging us again for games we own. They could at least do PS1 as the PS4 is powerful enough to render them at 1080p with visual enhancements. Heck, Bleemcast on the Dreamcast did it with a few PS1 games and they looked great. Sony is settling back in to their old ways. Give PS fans the option of using their old game, even if it has no enhancements. If people want the next gen features of trophies and streaming then they can buy those enhanced versions. I still have a lot of PS1 and PS2 games and would like to revisit them from time to time without having to break out my PS2 from storage.

It's one of my favorite things about my xbox. PS4 is still my primary console but I love being able to play 360 games whenever I want.

Super Meat Boy, Battleblock Theater, Shadow Complex, Braid, Castle Crashers, Ilomilo, Trials HD/Evo, PVZ, Dust, Limbo, Splosion Man/MS Splosion Man, State of Decay, Geometry Wars 2.

Hope I didn't forget anything :P

Care to share where you snoop? :D

Where is this guy getting the games list from?

He either has an Xbox One system configured with an employee sandbox id and is watching what employees play there or...

He probably follows a bunch of Microsoft employees on Xbox Live and those employees aren't properly following the HIDE-YO-PRESENCE instructions that all employees have when testing new stuff :-P

...he is doing this with a stock retail system.

I agree. I was convinced that Sony was going to do the right thing and allow people to play games in their digital library through PS Now, boy was I wrong. I was very much pro PS4 at the start of this generation, but they are absolutely falling back into their old ways while MS has been pushing new features and improvements to their platform. MS announcing BC was what finally made me switch to the XB1 as my primary platform. I play older games all the time, and MS making the effort to honor their customers past purchases is a huge deal to me. Sonys greed and complete lack of effort this generation pushed me away in a big way. I went from buying everything on PS4 to only buying the exclusives that I absolutely must play. For me it all comes down to how a platform holder is treating this customers in the here and now, and MS is killing it. I only hope BC support starts expanding at a faster rate now that the holidays are over.

I can't download anything from the site without a credit card? That seems a little ridiculous especially in the case of Deus Ex since it's free.

It is ... but thats the case for many years.

On the website you just "need" a credit card even if the stuff is free. You need an actual Xbox 360 console to buy free stuff without a Credit card.

Same here, I convinced myself PS Now would be a portal to playing digital items already on our accounts. I'm still holding out hope, but it's not feeling too good. Would be so awesome.

Hopefully Dark Arisen is added eventually. The Arisen thread has me wanting to jump back in and I enjoyed it just fine on console (although it was on PS3, as I got it from PS+.)

Sounds good on paper but with how many issues many games have and how bad performance is I think that ps now might actually be a better experience for big budget 3D games.

Unless you have a lot of games that you could play right now, don't be. It's been almost nonexistent to me so far.

If we get GTA IV / RDR next week and they work perfectly then you shall be jealous.

Still waiting on black ops. FU MS for baiting that shit.

And this is why game companies don't announce what they are working on until it's nearly done.

Transparency always bites them in the ass because people want it "NAO!!!!" and don't understand "it's being worked on."

The xbox 360 version of dragon's dogma was much better than the ps3 version. Where it was (mostly) 30 fps on the 360 with occasional dips, dips on the ps3 version were far too common.

"There is up to 33% improvement in performance on the xbox one emulation of gears of war 3 compared to the xbox 360 version."

That's a bit disingenuous to the video. 33% improvement in the cut scenes in some places, but quite heavy drops to 20fps or lower in dense fire fights when the 360 holds it closer to the 30fps target.

I wonder if this is pre or post the most recent patch that people say has helped.

I think that video was done before the patch that was supposed to improve performance.

Good, stops stores upping the price of games in advance. Fallout 3 is £15 in cex now, when before it could be had for £3.

CEX's prices on older titles are dictated by availability, if Fallot 3 has gone up, it's because people have come in to buy copies of it and reduced the stock.
There are other BC titles that are the same price

Well Dirt 3 got raised from £5 to £10. That was free at one point.
