Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Aegis wing....... I apparently own it. Don't even remember playing it, but whatever with CS: GO and the Witcher 2 free download yesterday it's a nice group today.

Not a great list but at least the biggest news coming out of this is that they'll be releasing titles whenever they're available instead of this current monthly schedule.

Looking at the list I was disappointed, mainly since I bought Skate 3 in November since it was coming soon but seeing Witcher 2 is great. The Witcher 3 was the first for me in the series and have really wanted to try the older ones.

I really hope the reason for the small lists is because they are having performance issues to iron out. Because that's really disappointing after how they gloated about the process to add new games being quite easy when it was announced.

Bit odd that they're holding back on Tekken Tag given that the proof is there. Ah well! Maybe in 5 months or so.

Games with gold maybe, or just a database error that made it visible. I've been seeing it for several months now along loads of others they are holding back on

I'm downloading it now? I'm in the UK.

Not for me its not, just tried the the now.

I still think a lot of publishers are waiting for the games to be buy able through the store

Nothing that I've not said already , nothing on that list today was a surprise. It's more surprising how few there are given that we now have a crystal clear view of which games they are looking at.

I think they're being more careful in the quality of performance per title released since Reach being in such a poor state is doing them no favors. With the announcement that there will no longer be a single day to dump titles and that they will release as they are ready, I think the list being small is a good sign.

New ASAP launch policy is the real news. Doesn't even matter that they only put out ten games today. It'll probably 1-3 games each week now. Much better, I think.

Hmmm... Small Arms isn't appearing for me as available to download right now. Another 4 games (hopefully 5 soon once Small Arms shows up) added to my Xbox One's download queue. Great to see CS:GO. Makes me hopeful Portal 2 will show up one day.

I also like they are transitioning to releasing when the titles are ready, rather than a monthly surge. It won't grab as many headlines but it'll stop people from having a cow over when the monthly announcements will be.

The way they worded the announcement it sounds like they need the publishers to say it's good enough before releasing it so that might be the holdup given the performence issues we've seen on the other released titles

Can't believe people are actually defending this garbage list two months in and it's still a complete joke... I guess if your really into arcade games it's been good. but fuck me the retail games are slacking Witcher 2? Like seriously it's the only retail game

Step your shit up ms this feature has been so hyped up only to fall flat on its face

Edit* just saw they are releasing as ready which is still good but Meh at the same time it's like why wasn't this the policy to begin with?

Another month, another disappointing list. BC could be such a great feature, yet MS seems unwilling to capitalize on it.

TW2 is impossible to go back to after TW3.

B/C is going to be a slow burn.... It's going to take a year or two to get really good and when it does it'll be... Really good.

I could be complaining that tales of vesperia isn't on it yet but i want them to make sure it's as playable as it was on the xbox 360 and if it takes them a year to do that then so be it.

Agreed.

If they knew it wasn't going to be great and that there would be many technical and publisher related hurdles along the way then don't hype it up and announce it at E3 like its the next big thing. Because it really isn't.

Disappointing list. Really was hoping for Halo Wars, at the least, since it's been constantly featured in marketing images for BC.

BUT... free Witcher 2 for all is a pretty nice consolation.

My suspicion, and I may be dead wrong but I'll throw it out there, is they have tightened up some of the quality requirements after all the (justifiable) bitching about Reach, so they're testing a bit more stringently now before releasing.

At E3 they announced that 100 titles would be available at launch with more added in the coming months.

That's exactly what we're getting.

This piece by piece release format is no different than what you get on the eShop with their back catalogue or on PSN with PS2 and PS1 games.

Things have to be prepped and approved for release and publishers are going to be involved in that process.

I would not be surprised by this.
