Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Pretty sure this was confirmed as coming, not sure when, but it should be BC at some point.

I guess this is an ok $5 bet. Might grab the season pass for the extra $3 too. He jumped on the gun pretty quick with that tweet. Why the heck hasn't it made it out yet?

Edit: Lol, turns out I already bought it in anticipation of BC. Doubled down on the season pass though. Go big or go home I always say.

Probably is going through the review process so that it is playable with no new bugs. Takes time. My guess is he knows they're working on it and doesn't want to pretend he doesn't. I'd say it's a safe bet it'll happen in the next month or so.

The thing is if true, why was Reach and and the Gears games released?

Eh gears 3 is very playable...they never said they would reach the same perf as 360...also they needed it to come out with ultimate....reach i have no idea about

On the positive side as they improve the emulator those games should improve

Yeah, I agree with everything you said. The only thing I am unsure on how these games are going to be priced. I could see BC games not being that cheap, even during sales. I am a PC gamer as well so I am spoiled by how cheap older games eventually become but when I look at pricing of older games coming to BC they don't really seem that cheap and don't seem to go on sale.

I have kept some physical copies of Xbox 360 games like RDR, Halo, GoW and others but I would much rather have the digital copies at this point, esp for BC. I totally plan on double dipping on digital versions if the price is right. I just hope it is.

I'm also hopping for some decent prices. And so far, most titles hang around the 20 dolar mark, some cheaper, others a bit more expensive.

I'm following the Deals with Gold very closely, since there are opportunities, but that's the problem. It isn't a standard practice to go for cheap prices. Lets hope publishers change their minds about this.

If I had to guess, and going by recently released Xbox One Games and Deals with Gold, there seems to be a rising trend to discount around 10/15 dolars off new games in the weeks following it's launch. However, older titles (like Sunset Overdrive) are hardly ever discounted.

That makes a lot of sense. I had t thought about that before. It would certainly behoove publishers to wait until there is a good chance at getting some free revenue before giving the go-ahead

We can only hope. Thruth is that only the Official Launch of the BC Store (and time of course) will tell. The question is how much time...

Was this known?

Could explain the delay on some titles. Titles have to be thoroughly tested and the emulation is just now getting to a point where newly introduced titles run without issues.

Aaaaand according to this, it could be a very long time. A I to undestad that these guys got the Seriously and Seriously 2.0 achievements of Gears 2 and 3??

I simply can't imagine how long it could take one person to do all of Skyrim's unlimited quests.

Thats not really a excuse.

Sry but to me it seems like Reach wasnt really tested. I cant believe that someone thought 20fps or lower are great.

If i remember correctly frame rate really isn't the issue with Reach...what makes it so unplayable is the frame pacing is completely broken

I've barely touched BC since it came out but I've recently started putting lots of hours into Gears 2 again.

Runs pretty much flawless for me. It's pretty magical being able to play old games with the new Xbone features like DVR and screenshots. Loving it.

Can't wait for Halo Wars to finally come.

I do wonder if Halo Wars is another game that has performance issues keeping it from being put out. I know the developers cease to exist.

This is weird. I bought Secret Amory and New Revolution back in the day, but not The Underdome or Zombie Island. I can access EVERYTHING with just the base game installed, but I can waste another 3 GB if I want to install Secret Armory and New Revolution. Why even give the option?

I guess its downloaded with all dlc installed.

Why don't they just have preview members do this?

Because most preview members don't know what "beta" or "test" actually means.

They just assume it is all release software. You'd see a whole bunch of people complaining about "X game is crap."

We've had threads on GAF with people complaining about the fact that Xbox One sucks because it had updates every week, only to later admit they had signed up for the preview program (aka specifically opted in for frequent updates).

Omg, my copy of The Witcher 2 finally works. Right after I downloaded and played Stick of Truth, I tried Witcher and it began working fine.

As a guy who's never owned a 360 and experienced the exclusives (and missed out on late last gen games) I love this BC!

I wish they'd make an og Xbox exception and put KOTOR and KOTOR 2 on that list.

Yep. Snap judgements were made on the first backwards compatibility titles and there was some bad publicity when people who opted in for the beta started complaining about games not working properly. And not in a constructive feedback way.

Sucks, because I loved giving feedback on the OG Xbox backwards compatibility on 360. It sometimes felt like they just used to throw titles on that list and see what worked. The fact that the European version of Silent Hill 2 can't get past the title screen is proof of that.

If Microsoft were to offer NDA'd backwards compatibility beta testing, I'd happily help out.

I don't understand why they never put out a bundle of those games with achievements added. There is still so much hype about those games. They would make a killing.

My physical copy doesn't work yet, interesting though.

Thats always the case with physical... discs wont work until officially available.

I wish they would hurry up and get Black Ops 1 going. Just picked up a copy and trying to get on that shit.

Microsoft should concentrate on the games that arent on the Bone. Something like RDR or Halo Wars is good.
Just another CoD? meh plenty out already.

Just prefer playing those older CODs instead of the jetpack, wall running crap that is out on Xbox1. Sure I can boot em up on my 360 it's just easier to have them on just one console.

But yes, give us that RDR. Damn right.

But RDR is GTA with horses, there's already one on the Bone!
And we also already have Halo on the Bone! Why don't they concentrate on other IPs?

See how ridicolous that sounds? The three COD games we have on X1 are nothing like the previous ones.

Thats so wrong...

We dont have a Halo RTS on XboxOne.

The 3 cod games we have still play like the million other CoD games. Sure that jetpack shit etc is annoying but at its core, still the same.

And the current amount of input lag wont be a good thing for CoD. Its okeyish to deal with for 30fps titles.

Sounds like CoD ghosts is for you.

Thank you. Was about to say that.

Dammit - where the hell is Red Dead Redemption? Are they really going to wait until E3? I'm still so mad that I turned on my XBO a day late, and they changed it to Hexic. I'd like to play RDR with the XBO controller!

They don't, and you would know that if you would've ever played them for more than 10 minutes.

COD2 is a fantastic WW2 shooter with an epic campaign and a really good mp (which was dead as of 2 months ago, sadly).
COD4 is the most balanced mp (still 100% alive) and a great campaign.
MW2 is the most fun unbalanced mess of a multiplayer shooter I've ever played.
COD BO is the best zombie experience and it includes WaW maps too.
COD BO2 is the fastest COD multiplayer and a really good zombie gamemode.

Other ones are either redundant (WaW has everything covered between COD2, COD4 and BO) or completely surpassed (MW3 is the boring brother of MW2 and COD Classic/COD3, sadly, have no place today).

Just because they're part of the same series and all share the genre it doesn't mean playing one of them is the same as any others.

I've forgot which games I even own digitially on the 360 so it's always a nice surprise when they pop up. I think I do have Castlevania.

Gosh I feel bad for Major Nelson on Twitter. A lot of people give him a lot of crap on Twitter. I would think he should start blocking people, lol.

Since the XBLA port of Castlevania: SOTN is published by Konami, it makes me hopeful that the 360 Metal Gear & Zone of the Ender games are not 100% off the table.
